Chapter 377 All That Alexander Did for Her Behind the Scenes

Seeing Elizabeth holding Nico's urn and looking so sad, Alexander couldn't bring himself to tell her the news. He held Elizabeth tightly in his arms and whispered, "You have us. Stay strong."

Elizabeth gave a slight smile. She snuggled closer into Alexander's embrace and said more calmly, "I've endured a lot of suffering. Honestly, I'm calm about it all. I can handle it. You don't need to comfort or reassure me. I can withstand even the harshest things. Go ahead and tell me."

Elizabeth had already considered the worst possible outcome. Quiana was actually imprisoned by Oliver while she was in Sunwillow City, completely unaware.

The guilt made Elizabeth unable to stay calm, but to avoid worrying Alexander, she tried her best to remain composed.

Seeing her calm expression, Alexander said, "For a while, the Guise Family was very anxious and jealous because you were getting a lot of attention from me and my mom. They feared you would compete with Clara for my affection. Oliver tried various ways to deal with you, but nothing worked. Eventually, he sent people across the country to find your mom, and they succeeded."

Elizabeth sneered. "So, when Oliver told me in prison that my mom was sick and needed a lot of money, he was lying to me?"

Alexander sighed and nodded. "Oliver wanted to find a scapegoat to deceive me, but since that was difficult, he turned to you. His plan was to use you and then send you back to prison on serious charges to ensure you wouldn't survive. They didn't care whether your mom was dead or alive. However, the Guise Family never expected you to get out of prison so quickly. For my mom's sake, I got you out, which completely blindsided them."

Elizabeth was smart. Even if Alexander hadn't said it, she had already guessed that the Guise Family was looking for Quiana to have the best leverage to threaten her.

"But where is my mom now?" Elizabeth suddenly looked at Alexander with teary eyes, almost afraid to ask, "Did Oliver kill my mom out of anger because I escaped and ruined his wedding with Clara?"

Alexander shook his head. "No! Your mom seemed weak and quiet, and she looked very plain, but she was very clever. She was initially locked in the basement of the Guise Villa. The person who delivered her meals every day was a servant of the Guise Family, Ainsley Davis. Your mom got close to her, and Ainsley saved her and let her escape. Ainsley also left the Guise Villa."

The information about Quiana being imprisoned by Oliver was discovered by Gavin, who found the suddenly disappeared Ainsley.

Ainsley was originally Lila's trusted servant., so she let her deliver meals to Quiana every day. In the end, Ainsley helped Quiana. Knowing she wouldn't have a good outcome if she stayed, Ainsley left the Guise Villa the night she let Quiana go.

Recently, Alexander had Gavin investigate the Guise Family thoroughly, and Gavin found Ainsley by looking into the servants the Guise Family had hired over the years. To avoid the Guise Family's harassment, Ainsley hid in a remote countryside, but Gavin still found her, startling her when he arrived.

After Gavin explained the purpose of his visit, she felt a bit relieved. Thinking of Quiana, she couldn't help but cry. "She was a good woman. She looked plain and didn't wear fancy clothes like Lila, but she was very polite and graceful, like a girl from a wealthy family. She was very kind. I'm old and couldn't bear to hurt others. Later, I thought saving her would give me peace of mind, so I let her go. I never contacted her again. She didn't have a phone, and I'm too poor to own one. We lost contact. I don't know if she's still alive, but I miss her. She could write beautiful poems and recited some of them to me."

These were Ainsley's exact words to Gavin, and Gavin was moved to tears. It gave him hope: Quiana might still be alive.

Hearing these words, Elizabeth was already in tears, soaking Alexander's lapel. "Are you telling me this to comfort me?" she asked.

"No," Alexander said.

"Do you think I can find my mom in this lifetime?" Elizabeth asked again.

"Yes!" Alexander's words were very brief, but he held her tighter.

"Actually, you don't know if I can find my mom, do you?" Elizabeth said to herself, "It's been six years. She didn't return home and had no money. She's old and not in good health. Alexander, I might never see my mom again in this lifetime. I might not even find her remains."

She cried uncontrollably, eventually waking Alice.

"Mom," Alice's childish voice called softly.

Elizabeth turned and held Alice in her arms. "Alice."

"Mom, I love you. Dad and I will always love you. Don't be sad, Mom." Alice raised her hand to wipe Elizabeth's tears.

Alexander also placed his large hand on Elizabeth's face, gently wiping away her tears. Then he kissed her forehead.

At that moment, Alexander's phone rang. He thought it might be someone from the local town wanting to have a meal with him. When he looked at the caller ID, it was the head of security from their neighborhood.

Alexander answered immediately, "What's the matter?"

On the other end, the head of security spoke respectfully, "Mr. Windsor, a female homeless scavenger was just asking our residents about you."

Alexander suddenly sat up straight. "What did you say? A female homeless scavenger?"
