Chapter 247 Brazen Provocation
An important call?

Elizabeth thought about it and decided against it, waiting for him downstairs. Since he went to the top floor to make an important call, it must be something he didn't want anyone to know.
Elizabeth's guess was spot on; Alexander indeed didn't want her to know about this call.
Ten years ago, when Alexander was still in exile abroad, an eighteen-year-old Molly had pursued him.

Alexander sneered, "Impossible!"
Gideon patted Alexander on the shoulder, saying, "Seriously, Alexander, for my sake, let's not expose her. After all, she's not marrying you. Do me this favor, okay?"
Alexander nodded, agreeing, "I don't have the time to expose her. Don't worry!"
This was a small favor Gideon had asked of Alexander back then.
Gideon and Molly weren't particularly close, but Molly was still part of the Lavien family, so Gideon valued this favor.
So, when Elizabeth suddenly mentioned Molly to Alexander, he thought she had heard some rumors about Molly, quickly stopping Elizabeth from getting involved with Molly. At that moment, he called Gideon to ask how Elizabeth knew about Molly.
Gideon was surprised, saying, "Alexander, I assure you, I've never had a private conversation or phone call with your dear wife. I certainly wouldn't tell her about your ex-girlfriend Molly."
Alexander was puzzled, asking, "Then how did she suddenly mention Molly?"
Gideon was also puzzled, saying, "I don't know. I'll ask Robert here in Pariz if he mentioned it in front of Elizabeth. If he did, I'll make sure he keeps his mouth shut."
Alexander said, "Okay! Don't let Elizabeth find out about Molly."
Gideon jokingly said to Alexander, "I have to say, Alexander, you're such a big shot, holding so many lives in your hands, and yet you're a typical henpecked husband?"
"Shut up!" Alexander immediately hung up the phone.
Then he went downstairs and saw Elizabeth waiting for him.
"What's wrong?" Alexander asked her, knowing she had something on her mind since she got off work.
Elizabeth's thoughts were hard to guess, especially when she didn't speak. He waited for her to speak up.
Elizabeth said, "Alice's kindergarten class is having a small party in a few days, and everyone is contributing money."
Alexander finally understood why she had been distracted since she got off work.
He didn't say anything, just put his arm around her and led her to the study, taking out a bank card from a drawer, handing it to her and saying, "There's five million dollars in it. The password is your birthday."
Elizabeth refused, "Fifty thousand dollars is enough. I don't need that much."
"This is compensation for you," Alexander said.
This bank card was something he had taken out six years ago after Esme passed away, intending to give it to Elizabeth, but she had refused.
Hearing his words, Elizabeth sneered inwardly. Because Molly's subsequent teasing and humiliation would be unbearable for her, he compensated her with five million dollars in advance.

As long as Molly didn't kill her, with the five million dollars, she could immediately go back home to visit her mother. The rest could be used for many things, at least as a future guarantee for Alice.
Elizabeth immediately took it, saying, "Okay." With that, she took the bank card and turned to leave.

Elizabeth nestled against his chest, her voice soft, "Alice is still playing in the toy room. You go and coax her. I'll put the bank card away, and when Alice is asleep..."
She didn't finish her sentence, but her face turned red.
Alexander smiled, pulling her close and gently kissing her soft lips.
Then he went to the toy room to be with Alice.
Alexander took Alice downstairs for a couple of laps while Elizabeth replied to a few parents in the group chat.
Elizabeth: [I'll bring the fifty thousand dollars tomorrow morning. Sorry, I'll keep up with the group messages from now on.]
After hanging up, Elizabeth went to the bathroom.
If tomorrow was uncertain, she needed to relax and take a bath to make herself feel better.
Elizabeth took a long bath, doing a facial mask, and admiring herself in the mirror before wrapping herself in a towel and coming out of the bathroom.
When she opened the door, she saw Alexander waiting for her outside the bathroom.
That night, Alexander was very gentle.
The next morning, Alexander took the 6:30 AM flight to Pariz, while Elizabeth was still asleep at 6:30.
In the morning, it was Alice's constant knocking on the door that woke Elizabeth up.
Waking up, Elizabeth felt like her whole body was falling apart, turning to see that Alexander was no longer in the bedroom. She hurried out, with Alice following her like a little tail. Alice mysteriously said to Elizabeth, "Mommy, guess what Daddy is doing?"
Elizabeth pretended not to know and asked Alice, "Mommy doesn't know. Do you know?"
Alice smiled proudly, "Of course I know!"
At that moment, Elizabeth's phone rang. She picked it up and saw it was an unknown number, answering, "Hello, who is this?"
A familiar yet unfamiliar voice came from the other end, "Elizabeth, if you dare not come to work today, I'll drag you out of a rat hole if I have to! Don't blame me for being rude then!"
Her tone was filled with confident arrogance.
Elizabeth said with the heart tightening, "Are you Molly?"
