Chapter 257 Hit Someone
Elizabeth widened her eyes as she looked at the soft, green thing in Anouk's hand.
It was clearly a snake.
Anouk screamed and flung her hand, throwing the snake to the ground. The little snake curled up and landed right on her foot.
She burst into tears, her legs trembling, almost wetting her pants.
"You're such a scaredy-cat. Look at me." Alice said with a giggle, squatting down to pick up the snake and playing with it.
Behind her, a group of children also giggled.
Even Daphne mocked Anouk, "Mom, why are you so scared? None of us are afraid. It's not a real snake; it's a toy. Mom, you're so funny."
Anouk and all the ladies were silent.
Their lips turned pale with fear, but hearing the children laugh so easily made them furious.
After a moment, Heather, the group leader, was the first to react.
She looked sharply at Alice and then asked Daphne, "Daphne, what did you say? Alice brought this snake for you to play with?"
"Yes," Daphne said innocently. "Alice is the best. She always brings us fun toys. She is the smartest among us kids. She even told me that my mom looks fierce but is actually very gentle and scared. She said we could test it with this toy snake."
Daphne then looked at Anouk, saying, "Mom, Alice was right. You look fierce but are actually gentle and scared."
Alice also looked at Anouk with an innocent expression, saying, "Ma'am, I like you."
All the women were silent.
They could see that five-year-old Alice was a mischievous troublemaker.
Alice didn't like Anouk's gentleness; she saw Anouk bullying Elizabeth and came up with this nasty trick to scare her.
Anouk glared angrily at Alice.
Her legs were still weak from fear. She struggled to stand up and pointed at Alice, saying, "You little brat! You have no manners! Our well-mannered children are being corrupted by you! Daphne! Come to Mommy. You can't play with Alice anymore!"
After shouting, she looked at Heather, saying, "Heather! You saw what happened. The purpose of today's small party was to keep children from low-quality families away from ours. We pay so much for our kids to attend this elite preschool for a good environment and circle. But with Alice here, she's a bad influence. What do you think we should do? We can't let this slide!"
Heather also looked sternly at Elizabeth, saying, "Bringing a snake to such a high-class party, what do you think this is, a farm? Elizabeth, you must make your daughter apologize to all the kids and parents! Then you should withdraw her from the school!"
Heather then called Angela, "Angela, come to Mommy. Don't play with Alice. She'll lead you astray!"
Other mothers also called their children away.
"Daphne!"
Everyone scolded their children, telling them not to play with Alice.
But the children had different thoughts.
"Mom, the snake wasn't brought by Alice. It belongs to Daphne," Angela said softly.
Daphne nodded, saying, "Mom, the snake is mine. I love this toy snake. I traded a lot of toys with the kids downstairs for it. All the kids in our class love this snake. It's fun."
"Daphne!" Anouk was furious, "You weren't like this before! You've become a troublemaker since you started playing with Alice! Throw the snake away."
Daphne immediately started crying.
Alice clung tightly to Elizabeth's leg, looking up at her and saying, "Mom, I want to go home."
Alice was very perceptive and could tell that everyone disliked her.
"Since you're here, you can't leave! Ms. Spencer, you're part of this group and this party. You must come up with a solution to this issue to show your sincerity. Otherwise, you're admitting you're just like that poor family! Your daughter will face the same fate and be expelled from the preschool!" Heather said harshly.
As soon as she finished, Anouk also screamed, "Alice must apologize right now! She must confess her misdeeds! We can't let this unruly child off easily!"
Alice hid behind Elizabeth in fear.
Seeing this, Elizabeth's heart ached for Alice. She put her handbag aside and rolled up her sleeves.
Anouk immediately backed away in fear, asking, "What are you doing? Are you going to hit me? If you dare, I'll call the police."
Seeing Anouk retreat, Elizabeth sneered, taking Alice's hand, and walking out.
After breaking through the crowd, she turned back and coldly looked at the dozen or so ladies, saying, "My child did nothing wrong, and I will never make her apologize! As for a solution, I came here today to tell you that I never thought that parent did anything wrong! Did they offend you? Did they hinder you? They paid to attend this preschool. What right do you have to deny their child an education here? Do you think your cliquish behavior is noble? It's utterly disgusting! Disgusting enough to make me sick! I'm more worried about my child being corrupted by being around people like you!"
With that, Elizabeth took Alice's hand and continued walking out, ignoring the speechless ladies.
They walked quickly and bumped into someone's chest as soon as they stepped out the door, causing the person to make a sound.
