Chapter 370 Just Got a Beautiful Woman
Remy smiled meaningfully. "What am I going to do? Elizabeth, what have you been doing all these years? Being a prostitute must be tough, right? That rich girl from Sunwillow City told me all about you."
Elizabeth blurted out. "Clara?"
"You're quite smart!" Remy sneered. "But you lived off her family. I heard your mom worked as a maid for them and was also her father's mistress. With your status, you dare to call your host by her name? No wonder Clara hates you so much!"
"What did Clara tell you?" Elizabeth demanded angrily.
"Yes! As soon as you come back, I will take you to her. Don't you know what you owe her? Elizabeth, you've done wrong outside. I'm your cousin; it's my duty to discipline you!" Remy scolded Elizabeth in a parental tone.
Elizabeth knew it would be hard to escape alone today, so her only option was to buy time. She discreetly slipped her hand into her dress pocket and, by feel, sent a message to Alexander. The message was short: [SOS.]
She wasn't even sure if she had sent it correctly, and she couldn't take out her phone to check.
With that, she confronted Remy, "I don't care if you're my cousin! This is my home! If you try to stop me, I'll call the police right now!"
Then she took out her phone and dialed 911. She didn't believe no one would intervene.
However, Remy quickly stepped forward and knocked her phone away.
Elizabeth fell silent.
Immediately, Remy ordered, "You guys, come in!"
Four burly men entered, addressing respectfully, "Ms. Spencer."
Remy picked up Elizabeth's phone, handed it to one of the men, and commanded, "Get her into the car!"
The men remained silent.
"Hold her down! Don't let her escape!" Remy ordered again.
They immediately moved to restrain Elizabeth, but one of them hesitated. "Ms. Spencer, isn't it a bit much to grab her here?"
Remy sneered. "What are you afraid of? She's my cousin! You know she ran away from home at twelve. We've been looking for her for years and finally found her. But she's a prostitute now. I'm just trying to set her straight! Even if the police come, it's a family matter! They can't interfere it."
Elizabeth couldn't help but admire Remy's audacity.
At the same time, she hated the Guise Family even more. They were the source of all this trouble!
Elizabeth was always calm, even in danger. She realized fighting wasn't an option, so she had to stay composed and had already considered the worst-case scenario: death.
After all, Alice was with Alexander now and had a good relationship with him. Elizabeth had experienced a brief romance with Alexander. She had no regrets in life.
The four men held Elizabeth down, and she didn't resist.
"Elizabeth," Bodhi called out with teary eyes.
As an old man, he didn't dare offend someone as wealthy and influential as Remy, who did business in the city and had extensive connections.
"Elizabeth smiled calmly, "I'm sorry for the trouble, Grandpa Evans."
"Take Elizabeth back to the city," Remy ordered, and the four bodyguards immediately escorted Elizabeth out. Many people watched from outside Bodhi's yard and just sighed.
From a distance, some said, "People without skills or support are always taken advantage of. Elizabeth has had a tough life, hiding away for over ten years. She shouldn't have returned."
Another villager said, "It's tough outside! If Elizabeth had done well, she wouldn't have come back. I heard from Clara, who visited our village six times, that Elizabeth had a child outside. Who knows what happened to that child? I think Elizabeth offended someone in the big city, probably that rich Clara."
"So, Clara and Remy teamed up to ruin Elizabeth?"
"Of course! Poor girl."
"Shut up! Remy has connections in the city; we can't afford to offend her."
"Yes, she runs nightclubs and bars in the city, and has many connections. We can't cross her, so let's keep quiet."
Many villagers held this attitude.
A few villagers, however, tried to flatter Remy, approaching loudly.
"Remy is right. Elizabeth is a few years younger and has a bad reputation outside. You should lock her up and educate her."
"Remy, you're doing great, taking on family responsibilities."
"Remy, even with your wealth, you haven't forgotten your family."
Hearing the neighbors' compliments, Remy said, "You all be my witnesses. I'm just trying to discipline my wayward relative. I'm heading back to the city now."
Remy got into the car, surrounded by the crowd.
Elizabeth was pushed into Remy's car under the villagers' watchful eyes.
At this moment, the driver stood at the door. "Ms. Spencer, this is your family matter, but my five hundred dollars..."
Remy immediately took out five hundred dollars from her bag and threw it to the driver.
The driver took the money, glanced at Elizabeth, and said incredulously, "You look so well-dressed, but you're a prostitute? If I had known, I wouldn't have given you a ride. Your cousin should discipline you. These days, many girls leave home and experience the allure of the city, only to lose their way.."
Elizabeth remained silent as Remy looked at her with a malicious smile.
The car door closed, the engine started, and Elizabeth didn't even have time to look back at her old house and the cemetery behind it. She hoped Alexander would come quickly.
After about ten minutes, the car stopped, and Elizabeth heard Remy blatantly making a call. "I just got a beautiful woman. Are you coming over now?"
