Chapter 25 Owen's Pursuit of Elizabeth
Elizabeth suddenly fluttered her curled eyelashes a few times. She couldn't remember who this man was at first, but after a few seconds, she pursed her lips and said, "Mr. Tudor."
Immediately, the director, as if meeting a noble, stood up from his seat, bowed, and said, "Mr. Tudor, what brings you here? Are you here to inspect the work?"
"What's wrong with this employee?" Owen asked nonchalantly.
"She's a new hire, no education, no experience. But she's been absent for several days. The company can't keep someone like that," the design director said.
"I won't skip work again. I'll work hard on the construction site," she promised. Elizabeth was desperate to seize the last chance.
"Isn't she just a design assistant? Our company is big enough to be forgiving. Every new employee should be given a chance. Everyone makes mistakes, and as long as they correct them, it's fine!" Owen's casual tone surprisingly made sense.
The director could see that Owen seemed to know this shabby Elizabeth.
Since Owen wanted to keep Elizabeth, the design director couldn't say anything more.
"Don't let it happen again!" The director said hypocritically to Elizabeth, "This time, Mr. Tudor helped you. Hurry up and thank Mr. Tudor."
Elizabeth obediently bowed deeply to Owen. She remarked politely, "Thank you, Mr. Tudor. I'll get to work now."
"Go back to your desk first," the director said.
"Okay," Elizabeth agreed, then she turned and walked away.
The design director looked at Owen curiously, and asked, "Mr. Tudor, who is Elizabeth to you? Should I arrange an easier job for her?"
Owen thought, 'An easier job?'
Owen had seen countless delicate women in the office. Every time he came to the company, those women would swarm around him, their sharp voices and the pungent smell of perfume were enough to please Owen.
However, his taste in women had changed.
The submissive, cold, and restrained Elizabeth had piqued his interest greatly.
After all, Alexander had said that Elizabeth was just there to comfort his mother.
Owen was already eagerly imagining that scene.
What would it be like when he had Elizabeth underneath him in bed and made love to her?
Just thinking about it made him excited.
"Treating company employees should be done by the book. Even if she were my girlfriend, she wouldn't get special treatment!" Owen said in a very serious tone.
"Understood, Mr. Tudor!" The design director, after receiving Owen's order, went to Elizabeth and said sternly, "Elizabeth, after lunch, you still need to go to the construction site for some training."
Elizabeth immediately nodded affirmatively. She replied, "I know, I'll go after lunch."
Just keeping her job was good enough; she didn't care whether she was moving bricks or drawing blueprints in the office.
At lunchtime, while others were eating a ten-dollar fast food at the restaurant, Elizabeth went downstairs to the supermarket and bought a loaf of bread.
She had to be frugal and spend her money wisely, even a loaf of bread cost her a dollar.
Drinking water, Elizabeth ate happily.
"Elizabeth! I've been looking for you for a long time!" Owen stood in front of Elizabeth and said directly.
Elizabeth, with half a loaf of bread in her mouth, stared blankly at Owen. "Mr. Tudor."
"I saved your job. Shouldn't you thank me?" Owen asked with a mischievous smile.
"Thank you," Elizabeth said sincerely, pursing her lips.
"Not sincere enough!" Owen said, disappointed.
Elizabeth inquired, "Mr. Tudor, what kind of sincerity do you need?"
He replied, "At least treat me to a meal." Owen looked around at the restaurants, all dark and shabby, places where workers ate fast food.
He pinched his nose. To get Elizabeth, he was willing to go all out!
"At least treat me to a ten-dollar fast food meal?" Owen suggested.
"Okay," Elizabeth agreed readily.
They ordered a fast food meal.
Elizabeth was already full from the bread. She sat across from Owen, watching him eat.
It felt very awkward.
What was more awkward was that Elizabeth had an extremely calm expression while she sat across from Owen.
Eating the unappetizing fast food, Owen really wanted to reach over and playfully pinch Elizabeth's cold and helpless cheek.
It would be best to pull her into his arms and play with her fiercely.
He didn't believe she could remain so calm and indifferent.
However, Owen was like a good hunter. He was always very patient with his prey.
After the meal, when Elizabeth went to pay, she found out that Owen had already paid.
Elizabeth felt very embarrassed and looked at Owen as she realized, "I'm sorry, Mr. Tudor. I should have treated you to this meal."
"A ten-dollar fast food meal? Yet you still dared to splurge? I can see you're quite poor. You owe me this meal. When you get your first paycheck this month, you must treat me to something good!" Owen spoke bluntly and without reservation.
In Aldoria, he only feared Alexander.
Besides Alexander, there was no one else for him to fear.
In Sunwillow City, everyone would step back a bit when they saw Owen.
He didn't expect Elizabeth to laugh.
Her smile was pure and sincere.
Owen was stunned by her smile.
"You're a good person," Elizabeth said. "Although you speak bluntly, I can see that as a rich kid, you don't have any bad intentions. You're also handsome and sunny. I'm sure many girls like you, right? That's great."
Elizabeth genuinely envied those young people who could experience the feeling of falling in love, something she couldn't leisurely experience herself.
Owen was silent.
"Mr. Tudor, I have to go to the construction site. When I get my paycheck, I'll definitely treat you to a good meal. You can come to find me anytime. Goodbye, Mr. Tudor," with that said, Elizabeth left.
Watching Elizabeth's departing figure, Owen took out his phone and excitedly called Samuel. He said excitedly, "Samuel, I bet you, I can definitely get that Elizabeth who has been working on the construction site."
Samuel mocked Owen, "Didn't you say she was Alexander's lover? You're not afraid of messing with Alexander's lover?"
"She's not Alexander's lover at all!" Owen said proudly.
On the bus, Elizabeth had no idea that Owen from the Tudor Group was plotting against her.
She genuinely thought Owen was very kind-hearted.
He had once taken her from the construction site to the hotel where the wedding was held.
Today, he helped her keep her job.
Owen had given Elizabeth a bit of warmth and hope, so she was in a good mood that afternoon. The work on the construction site was tough, but she didn't feel tired. After work, she still went to the hospital to visit Esme as usual.
When she arrived outside the hospital room, Elizabeth saw two women.
It was Lila and Clara.
