Chapter 336 An Unexpected Person Appears
Simon could hear the disappointment in Julia's tone, and he quickly explained, "Julia, listen to me. Robert and I had something come up at the last minute. You know my grandfather just returned from a medical trip to Pariz, and he has a good relationship with Marcus from the Windsor Family. He said that for such a big event like Marcus hosting a family dinner, I must go early with Robert to help out."
"We can't go against his wishes. Although we can't personally pick you and Harper up, we have sent a car to get you. When you arrive outside The Windsor Manor, call me immediately, and we will come out to meet you."
Simon's tone was particularly apologetic.
He was actually a very reliable person, but he didn't expect to be stopped by Declan just as he was about to leave.
At that time, Simon had explained to Declan, "Grandpa, I can't go to The Windsor Manor with you this time. You can take my parents' car. I have to pick up a very important friend. This friend might even become your granddaughter-in-law in the future. You can't delay my marriage."
Initially, Simon thought Declan would definitely not let him date someone from outside.
However, he didn't expect Declan to smile warmly, "Alright, Simon. You don't know how long I've been hoping for you to get married. Your brother abroad rarely comes back, and you're the only one at home. I've long wanted you to find a girlfriend soon. But let me tell you, Marcus is nearly a hundred years old, and this is an event Alexander is personally attending. If you don't go early to help out, it wouldn't be right. Besides, this is a good opportunity to see if that girl is sensible and gracious."
Simon was silent.
Declan's words left him with no room to argue.
After a pause, he said to Declan, "Alright, Grandpa. I'll call Robert and ask him to pick her up for me."
"Robert won't do either, Simon."
"Why, Grandpa?"
"Robert is Gideon's nephew. You know how close Gideon and Alexander are. Gideon has important matters that require Robert to discuss face-to-face with Alexander. I just received a call from Gideon about this."
Declan lied without any sign of it on his face.
Simon believed him.
The main reason was that Simon didn't think Declan would lie about Gideon.
So Simon agreed, "Alright, Grandpa. I'll call Julia right away. I'll send a car to pick up them. You go ahead and prepare; I'll accompany you to the old house now."
"You're very sensible," Declan praised Simon.
After Declan left, Simon called Julia.
"Julia, my grandfather is over eighty years old. He's used to my car. Please bear with the car I sent to pick you up. Is that alright?" Simon asked gently.
Despite Julia's usually fiery and straightforward temper, she was very sensible.
She immediately responded, "Alright, Mr. Jones. You can send a car to pick up us. I'll call you when we arrive. You must come out to meet us, or my good friend Elizabeth won't let you off!"
"No problem!" Simon laughed.
He liked Julia's fearless and straightforward personality.
"Alright, bye! We'll be waiting downstairs."
"Bye."
After hanging up, Julia and Harper grabbed their bags and went downstairs.
"Is everything okay, Julia?" Harper asked thoughtfully.
Julia laughed, "What could be wrong? Mr. Jones is always meticulous and never deceives people. He always keeps his promises. If he says he'll send a car to pick us up, he will. If it were Mr. Lavien, he might break his promise, but Mr. Jones wouldn't."
Harper immediately nodded, saying, "Mr. Jones is indeed not that kind of person."
They put their doubts aside and went downstairs.
It was only when they got downstairs that Julia remembered something and said to Harper, "Harper, I want to call Elizabeth."
Harper immediately nodded, saying, "Alright, that will make things more secure, right?"
Julia took out her phone and dialed Elizabeth. Elizabeth answered quickly, "Julia, let me guess; are you sitting in Simon's car now?"
"Elizabeth, tell me where you are right now?" Julia asked.
Elizabeth was silent, currently sitting in Gavin's car.
Next to her was not Alexander, but only Alice.
An hour ago, just as they were about to leave, Marcus had called Alexander away, saying it was urgent.
Alexander had hurriedly arranged for Gavin to wait for her and Alice to get ready, while he drove to the old house first.
"Elizabeth, your silence means Alexander isn't with you, right?" Julia seemed to have guessed something.
Elizabeth's heart sank a little, "Julia, what do you know?"
Julia's laugh was sweet, without a hint of fear, "Elizabeth, I can finally understand what it's like for you to be alone in a wealthy family that is really not easy to deal with. But no matter how difficult it gets, Harper and I will stand by your side!"
Harper, next to her, nodded vigorously.
Elizabeth asked calmly, "Julia, did Mr. Jones get called away by Declan at the last minute? And Mr. Lavien didn't come to pick up Harper, right?"
Julia replied, "That's right! It seems they want to create some trouble again! But I'm not afraid! I'm a tough woman, not afraid of anything! Today, we will join forces with you. If anyone dares to be rude to you at the family dinner there, the three of us, plus Alice, will turn The Windsor Manor upside down. How about that?"
Elizabeth smiled calmly, "Let's do it."
When it came to temper, Elizabeth was definitely not as fiery as Julia.
When it came to being tough, Elizabeth was definitely not as tough as Harper.
However, Elizabeth was the most composed of the three.
Would their alliance cause chaos at The Windsor Manor?
Elizabeth suddenly looked forward to it.
After hanging up, she still had a smile on her face.
Gavin, who was driving in front, asked her, "Mrs. Windsor, Mr. Windsor was called away by Marcus at the last minute. I thought you would become indifferent, but why are you smiling?"
"Maybe because I have some help now."
"Mrs. Windsor, what did you say?"
Alice, sitting next to her, immediately answered for Elizabeth, "My mom said I'm her helper."
Gavin immediately laughed, "Of course, you are definitely the best and most capable helper. Mrs. Windsor, you don't need to worry. Today at the old house, no one will dare to give you any trouble."
As he chatted, the car arrived at The Windsor Manor.
The car stopped, and as soon as the door opened, Elizabeth encountered an unexpected person.
"Why is she here?" Even Gavin was surprised.
