Chapter 117 Let Alice Be My Hostage
Elizabeth was caught off guard when Alexander asked Alice to call him dad.
She gave a bitter smile and said, "So, you actually acknowledge her now?"
Alexander shot her a cold look and sneered, "Do you think I'm blind?"
"Call me Daddy," Alexander said gently to Alice.
"You're not my daddy, you're a bad guy! You're the man Mommy is most afraid of. You..." Five-year-old Alice looked at Alexander's dark circles and suddenly had an idea, "You're a raccoon!"
Alexander was silent. Alice's imagination was something else!
Elizabeth immediately pulled Alice into her arms, gently holding her head and saying, "Alice, be good. Don't make him angry. Listen to Mommy."
Elizabeth couldn't understand why Alexander suddenly wanted Alice to call him dad. She only remembered that during her days on the run, he had constantly sent people after her. Once, one of the pursuers told her, "Mr. Windsor knows you're carrying his child. But you still have to die. Even if you give birth to the child, both you and your child must die. Mr. Windsor doesn't want his offspring to be born like him. He only allows his wife to bear his children! Any illegitimate children outside, none of them can live!"
Elizabeth had felt utterly hopeless at that time.
Luckily, Samuel had arrived just in time to save her.
So now, how could Elizabeth believe that Alexander had suddenly changed and wanted Alice to call him "dad"?
Elizabeth had no idea what Alexander was thinking. Her only hope now was that she and Alice could die together.
But it would be best if Alice didn't die in fear.
Alice's eyes were filled with fearful tears, but she still pretended to be brave and comforted her mom, "Mommy, don't be afraid, Alice will protect you. This man is a bad guy!"
Then Alice raised her voice and provocatively screamed at Alexander, "Bad guy!"
As if by doing so, she could scare Alexander away.
Alexander slowly stood up and asked, "You won't call me dad, huh? Fine, we'll settle things another way."
He then looked coldly at Elizabeth and said, "I'll give you a chance to speak. Tell me, how are you going to repay ten million dollars?"
Elizabeth, holding Alice tightly, looked at Alexander with an indifferent expression and slowly said, "I knew one day I wouldn't be able to escape from you. Instead of hiding forever, I'd rather face it head-on. I don't have ten million dollars. Not even a million. And you have so much money you can't even count it. Your main purpose isn't to ask me for money, is it? If you want to kill us or whatever, do as you please!"
Alexander sneered, "You're wrong! I'm a businessman. Money talks. Besides, I'm here to discuss compensation on behalf of my friend. Your daughter injured him, so you have to compensate."
Elizabeth replied, "I have no money!"
Alexander sneered again, "You're being unreasonable! In this case, I have no choice but to use force."
After that, he took a quick step forward, yanking Alice from Elizabeth's arms and striding out.
"Mommy!" Alice screamed in fear.
She tried to kick Alexander, but no matter how hard she kicked, he didn't budge. Alice thought Alexander was afraid of her, but now his strength was so overwhelming that she couldn't break free.
"Mommy, mommy!" Alice's voice was sharp and filled with terror.
"Alexander! Let go of my daughter! Alexander!" Elizabeth shouted, lunging at him like a madwoman, clinging to his arm with both hands. "Don't scare Alice, I beg you, tell me how to repay. I won't be unreasonable. Alexander, tell me, I'll do whatever you say."
At that moment, Elizabeth suddenly realized that Alexander wasn't here to take her life.
What he wanted was to make her life a living hell.
Alexander stopped, looking at Elizabeth coldly, and said, "Now you understand? Thinking about repaying the money?"
Elizabeth nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I'll repay! Please put Alice down. She's only five years old, and she's scared."
Alexander handed the crying Alice back to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth and Alice huddled together, Alice glaring at Alexander with hatred. The tall, strong man was much more formidable than her friends at kindergarten; she couldn't beat him.
Alice silently thought of a way, 'How could I defeat him?'
Alexander spoke again, unhurriedly, "Elizabeth, tell me, how are you going to repay the ten million dollars."
He looked down at his shoes and added, "And these shoes cost over a hundred thousand dollars, add that to the total."
Elizabeth was silent.
She had no way to repay.
Alexander smiled meaningfully and said, "Elizabeth, think about those three months in Sunwillow City. You were quite the troublemaker. You had the entire upper-class circle of heirs in Sunwillow City wrapped around your finger. You were so glamorous and clever back then. Why can't you come up with a way to repay the money now?"
Elizabeth had no choice but to bite the bullet and say, "I have this house that I designed and built myself. It's not worth much, but with the land and the house together, it's about three hundred thousand dollars. I'll sell it and repay part of it first. I'll spend the rest of my life working to pay it back."
She was being sincere now. She truly had no assets left and could only sell this house.
"That's a good plan. But how can I trust you? What if you run away again? Do you want me to spend a few more years looking for you?" Alexander asked unhurriedly.
Just as he finished asking, his phone rang. He picked it up and answered, "Hello?"
The voice on the other end was urgent, "Mr. Windsor, Mr. Marcus Windsor has had a sudden illness and has just been taken to the hospital."
"Got it, I'll be back right away!" Alexander replied.
Hanging up the phone, Alexander didn't wait for Elizabeth to answer and said directly, "Alice will be my hostage, and you will return to Sunwillow City to repay the money with your lifetime earnings."
