Chapter 188 Father's Way of Education
Actually, when Elizabeth left the house in the morning, Alexander had already noticed that her outfit was a bit outdated. After his meeting at noon, he made a call to the fashion department, ordering these two truckloads of clothes. There were even four attendants who came along to help.
Watching them carry the clothes up trip after trip, Elizabeth was stunned.
Alice, on the other hand, was as excited as a little bird. Looking at Elizabeth's beautiful new clothes, she thought back to when they were in Collinsport; Elizabeth never had such pretty clothes. Now that Elizabeth had so many beautiful clothes, the kids at kindergarten would definitely not say she dressed old-fashioned anymore.
After the attendants left, Elizabeth looked at the now-filled walk-in closet, feeling a mix of emotions.
Was it joy?
Alexander had changed a lot since he first brought her from Collinsport, probably because of Alice.
Logically, Elizabeth should feel grateful and warm.
However, while she and Alice were enjoying Alexander's care, what about Samuel?
Where was Samuel?
That evening, as usual, Elizabeth watched from outside the playroom as Alexander and Alice played. She didn't know if Alexander used to come home on time every day, but since she and Alice moved in, she noticed that Alexander rarely went out at night.
He almost always came home for dinner, and after dinner, it was time to interact with Alice. Initially, Alice didn't really accept Alexander, but now she loved the games they played together.
Elizabeth could see that Alice was growing more and more fond of Alexander.
The cold and ruthless exterior Alexander showed to the outside world was completely absent when he was with Alice. With Alice, he became very patient.
Standing outside, Elizabeth felt a sense of enchantment.
Who in this world doesn't wish for a harmonious family? Who doesn't want their child to have a complete family?
Elizabeth wished for that too.
"Bad Daddy, I can't assemble this. If you help me, I won't call you bad anymore." Alice said, having tried to assemble a toy several times but failing each time. She wanted to give up, but with Alexander watching, she decided to act spoiled.
She didn't want to assemble it herself, wanting Alexander to do it for her.
At this moment, Alexander suddenly put on a stern face, saying, "I won't help you assemble the toy!"
"I..." Alice pouted to say, "I have a deal. If you help me, I won't call you bad daddy anymore."
"Three hours ago, outside the kindergarten, you told me that if I bought clothes for your mom, you wouldn't call me bad anymore. Are you going back on your word now?" Alexander asked seriously, looking at Alice.
Alice rolled her eyes, arguing, "That doesn't count!"
"Why not?" Alexander asked, puzzled.
"I said if you agreed to buy clothes for my mom, I wouldn't call you bad daddy. But when we got home, you had already bought them. That means you didn't agree to my request; you had already planned to buy them! That doesn't count!" Alice argued confidently, not giving an inch.
Alexander was silent. Alice was indeed his daughter; her ability to argue without reason was just like his.
Standing outside, Elizabeth couldn't help but smile, feeling a tinge of schadenfreude at the same time.
"Alright!" Alexander suddenly said from the playroom.
Alice asked excitedly, "You're willing to help me assemble it?"
"No!" Alexander said firmly.
"You can keep calling me bad daddy, but I won't help you assemble the toy." Alexander's tone was calm, carrying an unyielding firmness.
Alice, now frustrated, pouted and said, "I won't assemble it. I don't want to play anymore! Is that okay?"
At four or five years old, Alice often lacked focus and persistence in her tasks.
After all, Alice was still young. Back in Collinsport, she often gave up halfway.
But back then, Samuel always protected her. Whenever Alice failed at something and acted spoiled, Samuel would coax her, "Alright, Alice is still young. If Alice can't finish something, of course, Uncle Samuel will help. Alice is a cute little princess. I just want to spoil you."
Samuel gave Alice enough love and warmth but was never strict with her. So, Alice tried her spoiled tactics on Alexander, thinking they would work.
But to her surprise, Alexander, with a stern face, coldly said, "No! You must finish assembling this toy today. You can go to bed only when you succeed!"
Alice retorted, "No! I want my mom!"
Alexander said calmly, "Your request is invalid!"
Alice said, "Bad daddy!"
"Yes, you can call me that! But you must finish assembling the toy!" Alexander said firmly, not giving an inch.
Outside, Elizabeth suddenly felt touched, realizing that Alexander was truly a father who balanced love and discipline. He would love Alice but never spoil her.
Seeing that her usual spoiled tactics didn't work on Alexander, Alice softened, saying, "It's really hard. I can't do it."
"It is a bit hard, but I can give you little hints for each step," Alexander said. "But you must assemble this toy yourself today, or I won't let you sleep!"
His words were so stern that Alice didn't dare to argue. With tears in her eyes, she nodded, replying, "Okay, I understand."
With that, she obediently started assembling the toy. With no way out, she began to think seriously, finding that with each correct step, she felt a small sense of accomplishment. With Alexander's hints, she managed to assemble a robot in less than ten minutes.
Holding the robot she had assembled, Alice jumped with joy, even forgetting to call him bad daddy, instead shouting, "Daddy, Daddy, look! I assembled it myself. I can assemble a robot now."
Outside, Elizabeth remained silent.
This was a father's way of educating a child, completely different from a mother's.
