Chapter 124 Divorce Agreement
That night, Josephine still slept in the guest room.
Stuart finally pushed her away and kicked those unopened gifts right in front of her.
Josephine's heart broke; she didn't sleep at all.
The next morning, Stuart had already left Haustia Manor.
Josephine and Andrew had breakfast, and she quietly shared her thoughts with him.
She finally said, "Grandpa, I'm sorry. I failed your expectations and can't continue this marriage. Stuart isn't at fault; if you want to blame someone, blame me."
Andrew sat on the couch, silent for a long time.
He reached out and touched Josephine's long hair.
He said, "Josephine, I see you as my granddaughter. But I was selfish, watching you stay unhappy, trying to keep this marriage. If you want to leave, I won't stop you. It's my fault for not raising my grandson well."
Josephine was in tears. "No, Grandpa, it's my fault, I'm not good enough."
"No." Andrew wiped her tears. "I'm old, not stupid. I see how good you are. It's Stuart who's a jerk, a beast, who doesn't know how to cherish you."
Josephine cried uncontrollably.
Andrew continued, "If you want to relax, go ahead. The Kalmien family won't be affected; I'll handle it. You don't need to say anything more; this is what the Haustia family owes you."
Josephine nodded.
Andrew continued, "But about the divorce, I can't force him to go through the procedures with you. Do you have any ideas?"
Josephine said, "I'll make him agree."
After talking with Andrew, Josephine went out.
She met with William.
"Sorry," Josephine apologized as soon as they sat down in the café. "For involving you in this."
"I'm willing," William said, looking at her. "You don't look well."
She touched her face and forced a smile. "I didn't sleep well."
"You should have left him long ago," William said. "He's arrogant, proud, and immature, clueless about how to love and cherish someone."
That wasn't true. Stuart knew how to love someone. It just wasn't Josephine.
Josephine knew this and didn't argue with William.
William had approached her to help with the divorce.
Laura had been close to William recently and fully supported Josephine's divorce. She strongly persuaded Josephine to let William help.
Josephine knew Stuart was wealthy and powerful; offending him would make it hard to stay in the country, let alone in Hustalia.
However, William said most of his business was abroad, so even if Stuart wanted revenge, he couldn't reach him.
Josephine was desperate; she just wanted to leave Stuart and end this marriage as soon as possible.
William said, "Stuart will hold the first shareholders' meeting after the Starlight Festival this afternoon; all shareholders will attend."
Such meetings weren't company secrets; a little inquiry would reveal it.
Josephine nodded. "Okay, we'll go then."
"Josephine," William looked at her, his brown eyes reflecting her face. "I hope you can give me a..."
"Mr. Campbell," Josephine interrupted him, "I'm grateful for your help, but as for anything else, I'm sorry; at least for now, I have no thoughts."
"Okay, I understand," William quickly said. "I won't bring it up again, but Josephine, I'll wait for you to give me a chance."
In the afternoon, the shareholders' meeting was packed.
Stuart was the last to arrive.
Dressed in a black suit, he exuded a cold, noble aura. He was intimidating.
The meeting hadn't started yet, but those with keen intuition sensed something was off.
The atmosphere in the conference room was heavy, and Stuart radiated a cold chill.
Even though he was usually stern, today he was clearly in a bad mood, with a violent aura almost bursting out.
Everyone was cautious, barely daring to breathe loudly.
They were shareholders, but the company's operations and development relied entirely on Stuart's decisions.
His business acumen was unmatched.
The Haustia family's business had multiplied under his management.
These people received substantial dividends and naturally didn't dare oppose Stuart.
The tense atmosphere made everyone wish the meeting would end quickly.
At that moment, the conference room door suddenly opened.
Everyone looked over, curious about who dared to interrupt the meeting.
When they saw who it was, they were stunned.
They were all company shareholders and knew about Stuart's marriage.
After all, a good marriage was a factor in the company's stock stability.
Some had seen Josephine, but most didn't know what she looked like.
She was always low-key, didn't attend social gatherings, and worked at the hospital instead.
So many people, even though they knew Stuart was married, didn't know what Josephine looked like.
Another reason was that Stuart rarely brought Josephine to public events.
This naturally led to various speculations.
In business marriages, it was normal for couples to have bad relationships.
Now, with Josephine suddenly appearing at the shareholders' meeting, many sensed something was wrong.
More people were amazed by her appearance.
Josephine wore a black cashmere coat, tall and elegant. Her face was exquisite, beautiful, and charming.
Those who recognized Josephine looked at her and then quickly at Stuart.
Was there a problem between this couple?
Those who didn't recognize Josephine were instantly filled with a burning desire to discuss.
Everyone saw the heaviness and seriousness on Josephine's face.
The conference room was instantly filled with a tense and gloomy atmosphere, as if something big was about to happen.
Stuart also saw Josephine.
Everyone's eyes were on Josephine.
Only Stuart noticed the annoying man, William, behind her.
Although he didn't know why Josephine suddenly appeared here, his intuition told him this wasn't a good sign.
Stuart's face darkened further, and he coldly asked, "What are you doing here?"
Josephine held a document in her hand. She stood at the front of the conference table, looking down at everyone.
Finally, her gaze fell on Stuart. "I'm here to discuss divorce terms with you, Mr. Haustia."
"Ridiculous!" Stuart was furious. "Do you know where this is? How can you act so recklessly?"
"I won't act recklessly." Josephine calmly looked at him. "As long as you sign this divorce agreement, I'll leave quietly."
Everyone was instantly abuzz upon hearing the word "divorce."
