Chapter 571 It's Not Heartache, It's Guilt

Ulysses glanced at it, then looked away and walked off with large strides.

Isadora saw Ulysses, but she didn't chase after him. Instead, she said to the boy, "I've told you many times, we're not suitable for each other."

The boy looked at her affectionately, "Isadora, I really like you. Why can't you give me a chance? We have many common interests, our families are well-matched, I'm definitely better than that Ulysses, right?"

Isadora said, "What do you know? I like him precisely because we're not well-matched."

The boy was puzzled. "What do you mean?"

Isadora said, "Then tell me, how much do you like me?"

"I..." The boy thought for a moment and said, "I can do anything for you, Isadora, without hesitation!"

Isadora said, "Let me just ask you, if we were to be together in the future, would you be willing to marry into my family?"

The boy was stunned, his face showing surprise, "What did you say?"

He thought he had misheard.

Isadora said, "Marry into my family, and our children would take my last name."

The boy was so scared that he took a step back.

Isadora said, "Don't you like me a lot?"

The boy scratched the back of his head, "This, this is different."

"Then, you should go home and ask your parents before you talk about pursuing me."

"No need to ask." The boy was very troubled, "How could my family possibly agree to something like this?"

"Exactly." Isadora said, "See, I gave you a chance, but you can't do it."

"Who could do something like this?" The boy said, "This isn't just about me, it's about my whole family. I can't make decisions for them."

Isadora said, "I don't care, I will find someone willing to do this for me."

The boy said, "Alright, I understand."

"Will you still come after me in the future?"

"Can you change your criteria for a partner?"

Isadora shook her head, "Impossible."

"Then I probably won't pursue you anymore." The boy said, "I'm sorry."

Isadora knew he was a good boy.

But they really weren't suitable for each other.

And she didn't like him anyway.

She patted his shoulder, "It's not about who's right or wrong, we just don't have fate."

After explaining things to him, they parted ways. Isadora immediately called Ulysses, "Come downstairs! I'm outside your dorm!"

Ulysses angrily said, "You think I'll come down just because you tell me to? What do you take me for?"

Isadora said, "I have something for you."

Ulysses said, "I've already told you I don't like you. Why are you still like this?"

"We've worked together for so many days, I'm leaving, there should be a farewell, right? I'll give you the thing and leave immediately."

Ulysses was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Fine."

When he came down, hands in his pockets, he glanced at Isadora and then looked away. "What is it?"

"I have something to give you." Isadora walked up to him, "Ulysses, I like you."

After saying that, she quickly stood on tiptoe and kissed Ulysses on the cheek.

Ulysses was shocked, covering his face and stepping back, his ears turning red, "You! What are you doing!"

Isadora said, "Giving you a kiss!"

"You!" Ulysses was furious, "You're such a rogue!"

Isadora said, "What's wrong? I wouldn't do this for anyone else! Besides, kissing you, I'm the one at a loss!"

She thought to herself, this was her first time kissing someone.

Ulysses was both embarrassed and angry, "How can you, as a girl..."

He was really furious.

It was his first time being kissed by a girl, and it was a forced kiss.

Luckily, it wasn't on the lips, otherwise, he would have lost face.

Anyway, he was furious.

Isadora said, "Alright, what do I have to do for you to forgive me?"

"I won't forgive you!" Ulysses glared at her.

"Then I'll treat you to dinner." Isadora said, "I'll make amends, okay?"

Ulysses looked at her, "Can you not ignore what I say? I said I don't like you, can we not see each other anymore? Don't come looking for me again."

Isadora said, "What can I do? I don't want to either, but I can't control myself, I just like you."

Ulysses looked at her angrily, "Anyway, if you keep this up... don't blame me for being rude!"

Isadora got close to him, looking at him eagerly, "How will you be rude?"

The girl's breath was warm on his face, and Ulysses felt his ears burning.

He took a step back, then turned and fled.

Isadora stood there, then clenched her fists to cheer herself on, "Isadora! You can do it!"

But in the following days, Ulysses kept avoiding her.

Isadora had to wait for him in the classroom and the dormitory.

Ulysses made several harsh statements, but Isadora acted like she didn't hear them.

However, no one expected that just when Ulysses was thinking about how to get rid of her, Isadora suddenly stopped coming.

He was puzzled, and another person in the dorm asked, "Isadora didn't come today?"

Ulysses shook his head, "Ignore her, it's good she didn't come."

At this moment, a roommate came over and said, "I came back yesterday and saw Isadora standing outside the classroom. You were talking about her inside, and Ulysses said he wouldn't like her. She probably heard and got hurt."

Ulysses felt a pang of anxiety.

Yesterday, the guys in the dorm were teasing him, saying that Isadora was so good, he should stop being reserved and just be with her.

What did Ulysses say?

He thought about his words and felt increasingly uneasy.

For the next two days, Isadora seemed to have disappeared, not appearing in front of Ulysses.

Ulysses now realized that the campus was very large, and if he didn't deliberately look for someone, it was really hard to see them.

Ulysses originally thought he would feel relieved after getting rid of Isadora.

But who knew, his mood didn't lighten; instead, it became heavier.

He couldn't muster any enthusiasm for anything.

He went home, and his family teased him, always mentioning Isadora.

They didn't know that Isadora had stopped talking to him.

Ulysses became more irritable and found an excuse to return to school.

For the next week, he didn't see Isadora.

Sometimes he wondered if his words that day had hurt Isadora's feelings.

Thinking about Isadora possibly being sad somewhere, Ulysses felt a pang of heartache.

He comforted himself, saying it wasn't heartache, maybe just guilt.

After all, his words might have made Isadora sad.

He thought about whether he should find Isadora and explain.

After all, he had said hurtful things.

He didn't know how to explain his feelings.

When he realized it, he was already standing outside the girls' dormitory.

And he happened to run into Madeline.

Madeline was coming back from a date with her boyfriend. Seeing him, she asked, "What are you doing here?"

Ulysses was too embarrassed to say he was looking for Isadora.

But Madeline asked, "Are you here to see Isadora?"
