Chapter 373 A Woman's Intuition

Stuart said, "I can't get into the details, but she saved my life. That's the truth."

Laura's curiosity was piqued. "Why can't you say? Is it something shady?"

Stuart paused for a few seconds before replying, "There's a confidentiality thing."

"Confidentiality? Is it about that time you went to the military base? Angela saved you? Seriously?" Laura asked. "I remember Josephine was there too, and Angela only went once. Just by chance, she saved you? Sounds fishy."

Steven, who was nearby, chimed in, "Laura, you can't doubt Angela just because you have issues with her."

"Why can't I doubt her?" Laura shot back. "Angela is selfish. She would save someone? I don't buy it."

Stuart said, "It's a fact, and I can't change it. So, I owe her."

Steven nodded. "Alright, let me see what projects are suitable, and I'll get back to you later."

"Okay," Stuart said. "Thanks."

After hanging up, Laura stood nearby, arms crossed, looking pissed.

Steven hugged her. "Laura, don't be mad. There's nothing we can do about this."

Laura frowned. "I don't think Angela's like that. And when we went to the military base, Josephine got hurt. I asked her what happened, and she wouldn't say."

"You don't have any evidence. No one will believe you."

Laura looked at him. "It's a woman's intuition."

Steven sighed. "Alright, alright, intuition. So, what now?"

"I'm going to find Josephine!"

But Josephine's phone went unanswered.

Steven said, "She's probably busy. You know she doesn't take her phone into the lab."

"I know," Laura said. "I'll call Jair."

"Jair?"

"He's at the military base. He was with Stuart. If Angela really saved Stuart, Jair should know."

"Laura, this is just your intuition, and the military base has confidentiality rules. Can we just drop it?"

"No way! This concerns Josephine's lifelong happiness. I have to find out the truth!"

Steven had no choice. "Alright, you investigate. I'll go to work."

Laura called Jair directly. "Jair, I need to ask you something!"

Jair was a bit surprised. Why was Laura calling him? But he quickly said, "Go ahead."

"You know about Angela saving Stuart, right?"

Jair, of course, knew. "I know, but I can't go into details."

"You don't need to go into details. I'm not interested in your military base stuff. I just want to know, did anyone see Angela save him?"

Jair thought for a moment. "No. Stuart and Robin were both unconscious at the time."

"So, Angela said she saved them, but no one knows if she really did? And your military base isn't a supermarket. How could anyone just walk in?"

Jair explained helplessly, "There was an event at the time. It was just a coincidence."

"I don't believe in such coincidences, and I don't believe Angela is that noble. She said she saved them, and you didn't investigate?"

Jair said, "First, I can't tell you the details. Second, this happened years ago and has been settled. Why are you suddenly suspicious?"

"Intuition."

"Laura," Jair said, sounding exasperated, "the military base doesn't operate on intuition."

"So, Angela saving Stuart was something Angela herself claimed?"

"Robin mentioned it first," Jair replied. "Then Angela confirmed it."

"Robin?" Laura said skeptically. "Robin isn't exactly trustworthy. Can you believe him?"

Jair sighed, "That's all I can tell you. I can't help you with anything else."

After hanging up, Laura briefly contemplated before seeking out Steven in the study. Upon pushing open the door, she found him on the phone, saying, "Let's leave it at that."

He put down the phone and looked at Laura. "How did it go?"

Laura walked over and sat on his lap. "Will you go somewhere with me tomorrow?"

Just as she finished speaking, Steven's phone rang. She instinctively looked at it. It was an unknown number.

Steven declined the call and then asked her, "Where to?"

Laura said, "To see Robin."

Steven was taken aback.

The phone rang again. It was the same number.

Laura got up. "You should answer it. I'll go out."

Steven wrapped his arm around her waist, hung up the phone again, and then turned it off. He asked her, "Robin? You want to see him?"

Laura had always disliked Robin. Why did she suddenly want to see him?

"I have something to ask him. Are you coming? If not, I'll go alone."

"I can't let you go to a place like that alone," Steven said. "I'll contact someone and make an appointment."

Laura said, "Robin still has some status in there? We need an appointment to see him?"

Steven said, "He's had a tough time in there."

"Although you're Robin's uncle, you really don't care about him, do you?"

Steven said, "He had it coming. Why should I pity him? At least I didn't handle it personally."

"You're a cold-hearted elder."

"I'm only tough on him," Steven replied, embracing her. "If you give me a child, I'll soften up."

Laura said, "Do you have any idea how hard it is to have a child? Your body changes, you get spots on your face, your muscles get loose, and you might even experience incontinence. Why can't men go through this instead?"

Steven said, "If I could give birth, we would have had many by now."

"Then when you can have children, we'll have them. Just one boy and one girl."

Steven laughed and kissed her. "Alright."

Steven was very reliable. He made the appointment, and they could see Robin the next day.

Laura was excited from early in the morning. Not to see Robin, but to find out the truth.

Robin was surprised by Steven and Laura's unexpected visit. Following Stuart's instructions, his time in confinement had been extremely challenging.

"Steven!" Robin's eyes reddened when he saw Steven. "Steven, help me! We're family. You can't just watch me suffer in here!"

Laura was indeed surprised to see him. Robin looked completely different from before.

Steven didn't even bother to respond to him.

Laura spoke up, "Helping you isn't impossible. But first, I need to ask you a few questions, and you have to tell the truth."

Robin immediately said, "I'll tell you! Ask me anything!"
