Chapter 270 The Ex-Wife Clings Shamelessly
Josephine grew up with her grandpa, Percy. The Todd couple? They were always cold towards her.
Percy used to tell her that her parents did love her, but now, with Jeffery in her life, she saw things differently.
It was clear as day—they just didn't care about her. Family or not, if someone didn't care, they could easily ignore you.
Josephine turned to Todd. "I've divorced him. I have Jeffery now, and a boyfriend, Roy. What do I have to do with him?"
Todd, clueless about who Roy was, assumed he was just some random guy.
He snapped, "Stuart still thinks about you and wants to remarry you. What are you so proud of? What does Roy have? What kind of life can he give you? Can he compare to Stuart?"
"It's not about what he can give me, but what he can bring to your business, right?" Josephine smirked. "Are you looking for a son-in-law or a business partner?"
Todd took a deep breath, trying to keep his cool.
He muttered, "You're just ungrateful!"
Josephine replied, "Sorry to disappoint you."
Just then, Stuart called out, "Josephine."
She looked up to see Stuart, looking all dapper and handsome, walking towards them.
"Stuart!" Todd quickly went to greet him, "I was just asking Josephine to find you!"
Stuart glanced at him and then turned to Josephine, "No need for her to find me, I came to find her."
Todd's smile was awkward. "Yes, you two have a good chat."
He pulled Esther away.
Stuart then said, "Josephine, you look stunning today."
Her stunning appearance made him want to shield her, especially her alluring back with its delicate skin.
He wished he could gouge out the eyes of all the men present.
But in reality, he didn't even have the right to be jealous as he was just an ex-husband.
The title of ex-husband was something Stuart didn't acknowledge at all.
But now, it was indeed his label.
Stuart wanted to tear it off and throw it into outer space.
But clearly, he didn't have that ability right now.
"I see some friends, I'll go say hello." Josephine smiled at him. "Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Haustia."
Josephine did see some familiar faces, but honestly, she just didn't want to be alone with Stuart.
She greeted them and found a quiet spot to wait for the ceremony to start.
Next to her, separated by a curtain, a few girls were chatting.
"Shirley, did you see Mr. Haustia? He's so handsome! I think you two are a perfect match!"
"Yeah, you two are a perfect match!"
"The only bummer is that Stuart's been through a divorce."
"Divorce is pretty common these days. As long as he's moved on from his ex and they have no contact, it's all good."
"Hey, I heard that Stuart's ex-wife still has feelings for him!"
"I heard it's Stuart who can't let go."
"What are you talking about! It must be his ex-wife clinging to Stuart! Compared to Shirley, how can his ex-wife measure up to Shirley!"
"Exactly."
One of the girls accidentally stepped on the curtain, muttered something, and then lifted it, revealing Josephine sitting nearby.
"Who are you? Why are you sitting here eavesdropping on our conversation?"
Facing the girl's question, Josephine propped her chin and looked over. "I'm just sitting in a regular guest seat. If you didn't want anyone to hear, maybe you should've found a more private spot?"
Josephine noticed the girl in the middle.
It was Shirley.
The youngest and only daughter of the Campbell family.
Rumor had it her health wasn't great, but she was super talented.
Seeing her today, she did look a bit sickly, but she was quite pretty, with a delicate beauty that made you feel sorry for her.
"Ah, you're that," someone recognized her, "Stuart's ex-wife!"
Rarely socializing and acquainted with few, Shirley believed her refined demeanor, shaped by knowledge, excelled in Hustalia.
But when the curtain was lifted and she saw Josephine, she was momentarily stunned.
Beauty was secondary; Josephine's presence was truly outstanding.
That black dress made her look even more noble and charming.
'But she, she is Stuart's ex-wife?' Shirley thought.
Shirley felt momentarily uncomfortable but would never concede being overshadowed.
Moreover, in her view, a woman's appearance was the least useful thing.
Beauty shouldn't be a woman's weapon to attract men.
And she was the most talented child of the Campbell family, with enough confidence and self-assurance.
She spoke softly, "Don't be rude, it's impolite to talk to her like that. Apologize to her."
Her voice was calm and gentle, making people feel comfortable.
The girl who had spoken earlier listened to her and immediately said to Josephine, "I'm sorry."
Josephine smiled. "It's nothing, you all continue, I won't disturb you."
As she spoke, she stood up and slightly turned, revealing the beautiful view of her back to everyone.
Her waist was slender yet her chest was full, and her back was straight. It was a body that would mesmerize men.
"What's she so proud of?" someone whispered, "Stuart doesn't want her anymore!"
"Yeah," another agreed, "she's clinging to Stuart, isn't she ashamed?"
Shirley frowned. "Stop it."
"Right, let's cut it out. If anyone's at fault, it's 'cause Stuart's just too darn impressive.."
"Yeah, I mean, he's the kind of guy who's a perfect match for our Shirley. No doubt about it..."
The girl who was speaking was suddenly tugged on her sleeve.
She looked over, puzzled. "What is it?"
The person tugging her pointed in a direction, "Look."
She looked over, and her eyes widened in disbelief.
Not just her, but all the girls who had been surrounding Shirley were now captivated by the scene not far away.
To call it a scene was because the two people were both extremely attractive, and seeing them together was a feast for the eyes.
The man knelt down, bent his back, and extended his long, elegant fingers to tie the woman's shoelaces.
The man was Stuart.
The woman was Josephine.
The ex-husband and ex-wife.
"Who just said Josephine was clinging to Stuart?" someone couldn't help but speak, "It doesn't look like that to me."
Not just not like that.
Anyone with eyes could see that for Stuart to kneel and tie Josephine's shoelaces, he must be deeply in love with her.
Shirley's previously calm eyes finally showed some ripples.
At this moment, Josephine also felt very uncomfortable. "I can do it myself."
