Chapter 498 So Stingy

When the two came downstairs, a long time had already passed.

Nicole knew that Josephine wanted to tell Stuart the good news, so she didn't rush them.

When they came down, Andrew and Jeffery had also finished practicing their writing, and the four of them were chatting in the living room.

Jeffery was overjoyed to learn that Nicole and Ulysses were both going to stay for a while.

Ulysses said, "I'm taking a day off tomorrow, have an exam the day after, and then I'll be on vacation."

"Great," Nicole said. "If Mr. Haustia doesn't mind you being a bother, you can stay with me."

"I don't know when my dad will be back," Ulysses said. "Will he stay here too when he comes back?"

Andrew smiled and said, "Of course, it's best if we all spend the New Year together!"

As they were chatting, Nicole's phone rang. It was a video call from Gerald.

He had arrived there, finished his work, and had a meeting later. During his break, he called home to check in.

They chatted for a bit, and just before hanging up, Ulysses said, "By the way, Dad, I took one of your scarves."

Gerald casually said, "Take it."

After all, it wasn't the first time.

However, he quickly paused and asked, "Which one?"

Ulysses was also taken aback.

He had taken Gerald's scarves before, and Gerald had never asked.

What was different today?

"The gray one," Ulysses said. "It doesn't have a logo, so it matches clothes well."

Gerald was silent for two seconds. "Bring it over and let me see."

Ulysses, full of confusion, showed him the scarf.

Gerald said, "Put that one back and take another."

Ulysses looked at the scarf.

It was a very ordinary scarf, with no distinctive features.

"Dad, what's wrong with this scarf?" Ulysses asked, puzzled. "Can't I wear it?"

"Take another one," Gerald said. "Why are you asking so many questions?"

"Got it," Ulysses obediently replied.

Nicole, standing nearby, said, "It's just a scarf. Why can't Ulysses wear it?"

"Mom," Gerald explained, "that one was a gift from someone else, it's not appropriate."

"A gift from someone else? That's rare. You actually accepted a gift from someone? Who gave it to you? A man or a woman? When did they give it to you? Was it on your birthday?" Nicole's barrage of questions gave Gerald a headache.

He said, "Mom, I have another meeting here, I have to go."

With that, he ended the call.

Nicole was quite upset. "Look at his attitude! He avoids the topic whenever it's brought up, never gives us peace of mind."

Andrew said from the side, "He's prioritizing work. We can talk about it when he gets back."

"Right," Nicole said. "I'll definitely ask him when he gets back. He never accepts gifts from others, but he accepted a scarf."

She turned to Ulysses. "Ulysses, you did a good job. By the way, what do you want for a New Year's gift? I'll buy it for you."

Just then, Stuart and Josephine came downstairs.

Nicole's attention was immediately diverted.

She saw Stuart's red eyes and noticed how long they had been upstairs, guessing that Josephine had already told Stuart about the pregnancy.

"Come over here," Nicole beckoned. "Sit next to me."

Josephine sat next to Nicole, with Stuart carefully protecting her.

"Did you tell him?" Nicole asked.

Josephine nodded lightly.

Nicole smiled at Stuart. "Are you happy now?"

Stuart smiled. "Overjoyed."

Andrew asked from the side, "What are you two talking about?"

Josephine glanced at Stuart, and Stuart said, "Grandpa, I have some good news. Josephine is pregnant, you're going to have another great-grandchild."

"Really?" Andrew was overjoyed. "When did you find out? How long has it been?"

"We just found out today. I've been holding it in for a long time, wanting to tell you," Nicole said. "I thought it would be better for Stuart to tell you."

"That's wonderful!" Andrew was moved to tears.

"Grandpa," Josephine quickly handed him a tissue. "Don't be like this."

"I'm just so happy." Andrew knew very well that his grandson had been quite a troublemaker back in the day.

Getting Josephine back was no easy feat.

It wasn't that Stuart had it easy, but that Josephine was willing to forgive him, which made Andrew very grateful.

Especially since Josephine had raised Jeffery alone for several years, Andrew felt heartache whenever he thought about it.

He always felt that the Haustia family owed her.

However, Andrew always felt that having another child would make their relationship even stronger.

He also wanted to use this opportunity to have Stuart make it up to Josephine.

Now that Josephine was finally pregnant, he was getting his wish. How could he not be happy?

After finally calming Andrew down, Jeffery had a chance to speak. "Mommy, are you really pregnant? Am I going to have a little sister?"

Ulysses also looked at Josephine with bright eyes. "Aunt Josephine, is it a sister? Is it really a sister?"

He had seen other classmates' moms having a second child, and it was a sister, soft and cute. Ulysses was very envious.

Although the brothers were also cute.

But he wanted a sister more.

Even Andrew looked at her expectantly.

Josephine felt a lot of pressure. "It's only been a little over a month. How would I know if it's a boy or a girl?"

Andrew quickly said, "Both are good, both boys and girls are good!"

Ulysses said, "But I want a sister..."

Before he could finish, Nicole gave him a light slap. "You want? You want, let your dad have one!"

"My dad?" Ulysses pouted. "I can't count on that in this lifetime."

"Not necessarily," Nicole said, looking at Josephine. "Gerald actually accepted a gift from someone else. Do you think he might have a girl he likes?"

"A gift? Gerald accepted a gift? What gift?"

"It was a scarf," Ulysses pointed out. "Look, the one I wore. I just told him, and he wouldn't let me wear it, so stingy."

A thought quickly flashed through Josephine's mind.

It came and went so fast that Josephine couldn't catch it.

Stuart laughed. "I told you I'd buy you one, so stop taking your dad's stuff."

"By the way," Nicole said, "we haven't told your dad the good news yet!"

"My dad is probably in a meeting," Ulysses said. "Let's call him tonight."

Nicole said, "And ask who gave him that scarf!"

The family happily had dinner and drinks to celebrate Josephine's pregnancy.

Andrew said that when Gerald came back, during the New Year, Stuart's parents would also come, and they would celebrate again.

And he would prepare a gift for Josephine.

Josephine said, "Grandpa, it's too early. The baby won't be here for another eight months. It's not too late to prepare a gift then."

Andrew said, "The gift is for you. You're the hero for having the baby. The baby's gift can come later."
