Chapter 544 Knelt Before Her

Kathy held his hand and led him forward, and Gerald saw a place.

He paused, realizing what Kathy wanted to bring him here for.

Kathy didn't move either.

Coming here, the choice was handed over to Gerald.

What to do next was up to him.

Kathy had no say in it.

She brought him here just to show her attitude.

As for Gerald's choice, she didn't know.

The two stood at the entrance of City Hall for about ten seconds.

It was a short time, but Kathy felt it was very long.

So long that she almost couldn't help but want to turn around and leave when Gerald held her hand and walked forward.

As they walked, he asked, "Did you bring the documents?"

This time it was Kathy's turn to be surprised.

She asked, "Do you know what I mean?"

Gerald said, "I'm not stupid. We've come this far, how could I not know what you mean?"

"So, are you willing?"

Gerald stopped, looked at her, and said, "Do you listen to what I say, or does it go in one ear and out the other? When I said I wanted to spend my life with you, I wasn't just saying it."

He finished speaking and looked at the City Hall sign, smiling, "I should have brought you here, but you beat me to it. Kathy, thank you."

Kathy had decided to come, but when they got here, she started to hesitate.

Gerald held her hand, but she didn't move.

Gerald looked at her, "What's wrong?"

Kathy said, "I suddenly feel like we're being too hasty."

"Then let me ask you, do you want to spend your life with me?" Gerald looked at her, "If you do, let's go in."

Kathy nodded.

Gerald held her hand tightly and led her inside.

Today wasn't a special day, nor a holiday, so there was no need to wait in line.

They had all the necessary documents, and the process was quick.

Before signing, Kathy suddenly remembered, "By the way, should we sign a prenuptial agreement or something?"

Gerald smiled, "What? Are you afraid I'll take your money and run?"

Kathy said, "I don't have much... I mean you."

"No need," Gerald said, "Once we're married, what's mine is yours. What's yours is still yours."

Kathy hadn't considered this before, but now that she thought about it, she felt she couldn't take advantage of him.

Seeing her hesitate again, Gerald sighed, held her hand, and had her sign.

While the staff was checking her documents, Gerald made a phone call.

He quickly returned, and they finished the process.

While waiting, they decided to take some photos as a memento. While taking pictures, Gerald looked into her eyes.

"Why are you smiling?" Kathy asked him.

Gerald said, "You're probably the first bride with red eyes."

After crying in the car earlier, Kathy's eyes were still red, but luckily not swollen.

Kathy couldn't see herself and exclaimed, "What should I do?"

"It's okay, you still look beautiful." Gerald kissed her, "Now, strike a pose."

With a click, the camera captured the moment.

Their smiles were forever preserved in the photo.

After getting their certificate and looking at the photos, Kathy still felt it was unreal.

Seeing her in a daze, Gerald waved his hand in front of her, "Snap out of it."

"My eyes are really red," Kathy said.

Gerald smiled, took a photo of their marriage certificate, and said, "Very beautiful."

Then he took out his phone.

Kathy leaned over to look. "What's up?"

Then she saw Gerald posting on Instagram.

In all the time they had known each other, Kathy had never seen Gerald post on Instagram.

"Making it official," Gerald showed her, "What about you? Want to introduce me to your friends?"

Kathy refreshed her feed and saw Gerald's post.

The caption read: [Married. With you by my side, the future is complete.]

The photos were of their marriage certificate, a candid shot of Kathy's profile, and a picture of their hands intertwined.

Kathy's heart felt full and warm, filled with happiness.

She posted a similar Instagram.

Soon, the likes and comments started pouring in.

Kathy didn't have many friends, just a few hundred, mostly classmates and colleagues from over the years.

Gerald had even fewer friends.

But Kathy occasionally posted on Instagram.

But Gerald never posted on Instagram.

Now, suddenly posting about their marriage, his friends on Instagram were genuinely shocked.

Gerald didn't even look at his phone, just put it away and held Kathy's hand as they walked out.

In the plaza in front of City Hall, Gerald suddenly said, "Wait here for a moment."

Kathy was puzzled.

Gerald told her to stand still, "Be good, I'll be right back."

He quickly kissed her forehead and then turned and walked away.

For a moment, Kathy had an illusion.

It felt like Gerald regretted marrying her and was eager to escape after getting the certificate.

Kathy was scared by her own imagination.

She even wanted to chase after him, hold him, and not let him go.

Her eyes followed the tall figure of Gerald.

Then she noticed a car parked by the roadside, which she hadn't seen before.

Gerald was heading towards that car.

Someone got out of the car, someone Kathy recognized as Gerald's secretary.

The next second, the trunk was opened.

When Gerald walked back holding a bouquet of flowers, Kathy was stunned, her mind blank.

Gerald stood in front of her, his eyes full of tenderness, looking deeply at her. "Kathy, I'm so glad to have met you, to know you, to love you."

"Today, I'm even luckier because you became my wife."

"From now on, I hope we can be happy every day."

"Kathy, thank you for marrying me. Let me take care of you in the days to come, okay?"

After saying that, he knelt on one knee, holding the bouquet in one hand and a ring he had prepared in the other.

Kathy, who had dared to bring him directly to City Hall to get the certificate, didn't care about these formalities.

But honestly, what woman didn't dream of being proposed to with flowers and a ring?

Gerald was actually a public figure in a way.

He frequently appeared on local news channels.

But at this moment, this high and mighty Gerald was kneeling in front of her.

Kathy quickly looked around, relieved to see only a few people around.

She hurriedly pulled Gerald up, not even having time to collect the flowers and ring, and ran with him.

Gerald followed her, and they quickly reached Kathy's car.

Once in the car, without saying a word, they embraced and kissed.

Their breaths were rapid, and the small space inside the car suddenly felt cramped.

Kathy felt a strong desire from him that she had never felt before.

She vaguely remembered Gerald saying that they would only make love on the day they truly became husband and wife.

Kathy's heart was pounding, and Gerald finally let go of her lips, planting soft kisses on her ear.

Kathy murmured, "Let's go home, okay?"
