Chapter 570 I Just Don't Like You

Ulysses said, "I don't like her that way."

Gerald asked, "If you don't like her, why are you helping her?"

"I just..." Ulysses said, "It's just a small favor."

"You really think you're something, huh?" Gerald said, "Do you have the ability to ask your family for help to complete what you call a small favor? Do you know that Stuart gave this project to your friend's company, which means another company lost this collaboration, and possibly everyone there will lose their jobs?"

Stuart said, "It's not that serious."

Gerald looked at him, "But it can happen."

Stuart quickly nodded, "You're right."

Ulysses said, "So what now? The project is already signed, right? Uncle Stuart, you can't back out now, can you?"

Stuart asked him, "Ulysses, if your friend's company and another company were both facing bankruptcy and needed this project, who would you choose for me to collaborate with?"

Ulysses said, "Of course, my friend's company!"

"But you don't like her, right?" Gerald said.

Ulysses said, "There are still degrees of closeness. I don't know the other company, but Isadora is at least my classmate."

"Isn't that a bit of a stretch?" Gerald said, "Maybe you like her and don't realize it?"

"Impossible!" Ulysses almost jumped up, "I like gentle girls, she's always so wild, not ladylike at all!"

The family looked at him and thought he was acting a bit strange.

Nicole said, "Ulysses, if you don't like her, just make it clear to her, don't be ambiguous, okay?"

"I did, Grandma," Ulysses said, feeling wronged, "I made it clear from the start."

"And now?"

"Now she hangs out with me every day at work."

Kathy said, "That girl is quite nice, her family is well-off, and she still works with you."

"Not at all," Ulysses said, feeling even more wronged, "She can't do anything! She just causes trouble! I have to clean up her mess!"

Josephine was puzzled. "Ulysses, if you don't like her, you can just ignore her."

He hadn't thought about that.

It seemed like whenever Isadora had a problem, he instinctively helped her.

Could he ignore her?

He decided he would ignore her next time!

Seeing his reaction, the family knew that perhaps Ulysses was too close to the situation to see clearly.

Josephine said again, "If you don't like her, then tell her again, don't let her work with you."

Kathy also said, "Is that girl very pretty? Her family is well-off, and she's outgoing. Aren't there many boys chasing her?"

Hearing this, Ulysses remembered the boy who had publicly confessed to Isadora recently and had been following her around.

After work, Ulysses always took Isadora home.

Otherwise, he wouldn't feel at ease.

Ulysses suddenly realized. Why wasn't he at ease?

Before he could figure it out, Josephine said again, "Ulysses, if you don't like her, don't waste her time, okay? Make it clear to her. If she comes to your workplace, can't you change jobs?"

He didn't want to say anything anymore.

Why did he feel like he didn't like what his family was saying?

They hadn't even met Isadora, yet they were speaking for her.

Ulysses, feeling a bit angry, returned to school.

At lunchtime, he indeed saw Isadora.

Recently, Isadora had been sticking with him for meals every day.

But now she had a cafeteria card and sometimes insisted on paying for Ulysses.

Last time, when Ulysses accidentally got his shirt wet while working, Isadora had paid for a new one at the clothing store next door.

Isadora even asked him, "Isn't it nice to have someone take care of your food and clothing? Aren't you tempted?"

Ulysses said, "I can earn my own money; I don't need anyone to take care of me."

To be honest, Isadora's actions had already crossed the line of ordinary friendship.

In the past, Ulysses would never have let a girl get so close to him.

But now things had changed.

At lunch, Isadora insisted on paying again.

Ulysses didn't say anything, but when he returned to the classroom, he heard some people talking about him.

"What's with the high and mighty act? Poor people don't need self-respect? Isn't he letting Isadora buy his clothes and meals?"

"Understandable, that's how those men are! They want everything!"

"There's no helping it, Isadora just likes that type. What can you do? Are you still going to chase her?"

Ulysses suddenly pushed open the classroom door.

Those people clearly didn't expect the person they were talking about to hear them.

Ulysses didn't plan to argue with them.

He didn't want to stoop to their level.

Those people felt guilty and didn't dare say anything when they saw Ulysses.

But after school in the afternoon, when Ulysses was about to go to work, he saw Isadora.

He told Isadora, "Don't come to work anymore, and also, the money for lunch and the shirt, I'll transfer it to you, please accept it."

Isadora was stunned.

These past few days, she thought she had made progress.

Why did Ulysses suddenly say this?

She said, "No need, it's not much money anyway..."

She didn't finish, seeing Ulysses' unhappy face, she explained, "I didn't mean anything by it, I just thought if I'm pursuing someone, I should show some sincerity, right? Didn't you prepare gifts when you were pursuing Charlotte?"

Hearing her mention Charlotte, Ulysses' face darkened even more.

Isadora said, "Alright, I know she's your first love, I won't mention her, okay?"

She felt quite sad.

She couldn't even mention Charlotte's name.

But aside from that, Ulysses was great in other aspects.

She told herself to bear with it.

But shecouldn't help but sniffle, stomp her foot, and glare at Ulysses, "What's so great about her? Worth you thinking about her like this? She's vain, talks behind people's backs, and has poor character!"

The more she said, the more Ulysses felt that his past was embarrassing.

He blurted out, "What do you think you are! Isadora! You have good character! But I don't like you, I just don't like you!"

He clearly saw that as soon as he finished speaking, Isadora's eyes turned red.

Ulysses felt a pang of anxiety.

But once the words were out, there was no taking them back.

He steeled himself, turned around, and left.

After that, Isadora indeed didn't come.

Ulysses didn't know why, but he was preoccupied all night, unable to concentrate, and made several mistakes.

In the end, he had no choice but to take a leave and leave work early.

When he returned to the school gate, he saw the boy who had been pursuing Isadora, talking and laughing with her.
