Chapter 131 I'm Divorcing You Too!
Everyone turned to see a tall figure blocking the door. It was Jair. He hadn't been around for the Starlight Festival because he was at the military base. He only got time off after everyone else's holiday ended.
Claudia knew about Jair from what Josephine had mentioned. He wasn't as bad as Stuart or Robin.
She spoke up, "Mr. Cook, Stuart divorced Josephine and now he's leaving me here, asking me to call her. Is that fair?"
Jair looked at Stuart, surprised. "You divorced Josephine?"
Stuart's face darkened, and he grunted.
Jair frowned. "So, it's come to this."
He turned to Claudia. "You're Claudia, right? I know you. You should go home. Stuart's actions today were out of line."
Robin quickly added, "Jair's here now. Stuart, you two should talk. Claudia, I'll take you home."
Claudia didn't know why Robin was being nice, but she needed to leave quickly.
Back home, still shaken, Claudia called Josephine. "Josephine, Stuart's a lunatic! Good thing you divorced him!"
She recounted everything. "If it weren't for Jair, I wouldn't know what to do! Robin said Stuart did this just to embarrass you, not to win you back! Don't forgive him if he tries. He has no heart!"
Josephine listened and then said, "I know. If this happens again, call me directly, okay?"
"I won't let them bother me," Claudia reassured her. "They can't do anything to me."
They chatted a bit more before hanging up.
Not long after, Josephine's phone rang again. It was Jair. She answered, "Mr. Cook."
"Josephine," Jair said, "Can you come out? We need to talk."
The room was quiet. Robin had taken Claudia home, and everyone else had been sent away by Jair. It was just him and Stuart now.
"If this is about the divorce, forget it," Josephine said. "The agreement is signed; there's nothing more to say."
Jair replied, "Divorced couples can still remarry."
Stuart looked up at that.
Jair continued, "You can't be so absolute. Stuart has a bad temper and doesn't express his feelings well. But you didn't have to divorce."
Stuart knew Josephine hadn't said anything nice. He snorted. "Don't tell her that. She'll regret it later!"
Jair shot back, "I think you're the one regretting it now!"
Stuart, embarrassed and angry, retorted, "I'm not regretting it."
Jair asked, "Should I ask Josephine to come over or not?"
Stuart gritted his teeth but didn't refuse.
Jair spoke to Josephine again, "Josephine, just do me this favor, okay?"
Josephine sighed. "Alright, I'll come over."
Jair said, "I'll send someone to pick you up."
Josephine declined. "No need, I'll drive myself."
After hanging up, Jair turned to Stuart. "You can run a huge corporation, but you can't manage your family."
Stuart grumbled, "I've spoiled her! Divorcing me, she must be out of her mind!"
"I think you're the one out of your mind!" Jair shot back. "Josephine's a great girl. You've been bullying her since you were kids. I've wanted to call you out for ages!"
"She bullied me too," Stuart retorted. "She was with Liam and never suffered any losses."
Actually, he felt he was the one who suffered more often.
"You're so childish," Jair said. "Like a little boy in kindergarten who pulls a girl's hair to get her attention."
"Who does such childish things?" Stuart snapped.
"Pretty much you," Jair replied. "I know you have feelings for her. You two got married, so you should understand each other."
Stuart interrupted, "I don't have feelings for her. Don't talk nonsense!"
"Fine," Jair said. "After the divorce, Josephine can date other men, get married again, and be intimate with someone else. Don't come crying then!"
Stuart shouted, "She wouldn't dare!"
"Of course she would," Jair said. "After the divorce, you can't control who she's close to."
Stuart, furious, threw the fork he was holding.
"You're upset?" Jair said. "Why didn't you think of this earlier? When she gets here, apologize properly. What's wrong with lowering your head a bit?"
Stuart stayed silent.
Jair continued, "Josephine is reasonable. If you hadn't gone too far, she wouldn't have divorced you."
Stuart asked, "What did I do?"
Jair replied, "Just with Doris, you were wrong. You were married and still being ambiguous with another woman. You're too much."
Stuart said, "I wasn't ambiguous."
Jair countered, "You're still denying it. Taking Doris to the doctor, comforting her at night, buying her jewelry and bags—that's called being ambiguous."
Stuart was furious. "Josephine is just being petty!"
Jair shook his head. "If someone did that to Josephine, how would you feel?"
Stuart blurted out, "Who dares!"
"See, you know it too, but you have double standards!" Jair said. "If it were me, I'd divorce you too."
When Josephine arrived, Jair had already said a lot to Stuart. However, he felt Stuart was stubborn and hopeless. It was up to Josephine to see if she would soften.
Josephine wore a cream-colored cashmere coat, a turtleneck sweater, straight pants, and white shoes. A simple outfit, but it made her look elegant and ethereal.
Jair sighed inwardly. Just Josephine's face and demeanor alone would attract many men after the divorce. Stuart didn't know how to cherish her.
Stuart was also looking at Josephine. He had thought that after the divorce, Josephine would be haggard and disheartened. Unexpectedly, she looked refreshed and energetic. When she looked at him and smiled, it was very charming!
Stuart gritted his teeth, feeling both sour and bitter inside.
Jair spoke first, "Josephine! Please, have a seat!"
The table had been cleaned and fresh fruit was laid out.
Josephine sat across from them and said, "Mr. Cook, Stuart and I are already divorced. There's no need to be so polite."
Stuart sneered. "You're just being hypocritical."
