Chapter 15 How Dare She
Stuart looked at her gently and asked, "Are you bored in the room?"
Doris shook her head and replied, "No, I'm chatting with my friend."
"Is that so?" Stuart inquired, "What are you chatting about?"
"She's also abroad," Doris said, taking out her phone. "She sent me some photos of the scenery."
As she spoke, she showed the photos to Stuart.
"Wait a minute!" Stuart suddenly exclaimed.
Doris's expression turned uneasy. "What's wrong?"
"Go back to the previous photo," Stuart said coldly.
Doris looked at him with innocent eyes. "Stuart."
"Don't want me to see it?" Stuart's gaze was indifferent.
Doris hesitated, "I didn't expect my friend to capture Josephine in the photo. Stuart, I didn't want you to see it to avoid any misunderstanding.”
She handed the photo to Stuart.
Stuart snatched her phone and flipped through the pictures one by one.
Josephine was with a strange man, and the man finally pushed her into a hotel!
Stuart felt like crushing the phone.
He thought, 'Who is that man? How dare Josephine?'
"Where is this?" Stuart's voice was filled with anger.
Doris was frightened by his gaze and couldn't help but shrink. "Stuart, you're so fierce."
Stuart calmed his emotions.
He looked up again and said gently, "Don't be afraid. Ask your friend now where she took these photos."
"Okay, I'll ask her now."
Doris took her phone and contacted her friend.
She told Stuart, "Stuart, there might be some misunderstanding in this. Although Josephine has many male friends, she is definitely not the kind of person who casually goes to hotels with men."
Doris's so-called friend quickly replied.
Doris was momentarily surprised, but she quickly regained her composure and showed the address to Stuart.
Stuart frowned after seeing it. "She's here too?"
Doris said, "Maybe she didn't expect you to be here on a business trip."
Stuart thought, 'So, she thought I wouldn't come here, so she openly dated other men?'
Stuart felt a surge of anger burning in his chest.
He married Josephine just to get what they needed.
But he absolutely couldn't accept Josephine's betrayal!
Stuart believed that what she did damaged his and the Haustia family's reputation and dignity.
He would never allow such a thing to happen!
Doris gently tugged at his sleeve and said softly, "Stuart, let's go eat first."
Stuart smiled at her and said, "Okay."
Claudia finally finished her work.
She touched her hungry stomach and looked at Josephine, saying, "Josie, I'm hungry."
Josephine was reading a foreign medical book.
She looked up at Claudia and said, "You're finally hungry. What do you want to eat?"
"Let's go downstairs and check it out," Claudia said. "I heard the restaurant in this hotel is pretty good."
They packed up and left.
Claudia pushed her and said, "I usually work all day. Don't you feel bored being alone?"
"No. I rarely have free time to read and study."
Claudia said, "You were excellent in your studies, learning faster than anyone. Now you're working, and you're still excellent. You have such amazing medical skills at such a young age. But you still insist on learning. You put a lot of pressure on us."
Josephine smiled and said, "Don't say that. I don't know how to design clothes yet. You're amazing too!"
They laughed and chatted as they left the room to take the elevator.
Little did they know, a tall man was already standing next to the elevator.
It was William.
William had found out Josephine's room number before and knew she was staying with a female friend.
He wanted to create a chance encounter, but he didn't expect it to happen so soon.
He thought, 'Perhaps this is fate. It's getting more and more interesting.'
William spoke first, "Josephine, we meet again. Is this the boyfriend you mentioned?"
With a hint of banter, a smile played on his lips.
After all, William had helped her, so Josephine didn't want to be too cold to him.
She smiled back and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Campbell. We're two girls alone in a foreign country. I was just concerned about our safety. I hope you understand."
Claudia realized they knew each other but couldn't understand their conversation. She blinked curiously, holding back her words.
"Of course, I understand," William replied. "Since we've run into each other, may I invite you both to dinner?”
Josephine quickly interjected, "I'm sorry, but my friend and I have something to attend to. Mr. Campbell, I appreciate your kind offer."
"Well, in that case..."
William took out his phone and said, "She's your friend, not your boyfriend. Josephine, may I have your contact information?"
Josephine had previously declined William's invitation to dinner, and it would seem impolite to refuse again.
She reluctantly exchanged contact information with him.
William understood that some things shouldn't be rushed, so he bid them farewell and walked away.
Claudia asked, "Josie, who is he?"
Not wanting Claudia to worry, Josephine didn't mention her near-fall with the wheelchair. She simply said she had met him during a walk.
As they sat down at the restaurant, Claudia couldn't contain her curiosity and whispered, "He asked for your contact information! Does he have feelings for you?"
Josephine found it amusing. "I'm married."
Claudia huffed and pouted, "You never let me meddle in your affairs with Stuart, but you've had few happy moments these past years."
"Claudia, do you want strawberry jam or blueberry jam?"
Josephine asked, changing the subject.
Claudia's attention was instantly diverted. "I want both!"
Josephine then asked about Claudia's clothing business, smoothly transitioning to a new topic.
After their meal, they took a stroll nearby before returning to the hotel.
Claudia continued with her clothing designs, while Josephine planned to read, but her phone interrupted.
It was a message from William, asking to meet outside.
Josephine, feeling a bit uneasy.
Josephine: [I'm already resting.]
William: [I'm at the elevator. Just a few words, please.]
Josephine hesitated, but before she could respond, William sent another message.
William: [I don't want to disturb your friend by knocking on the door.]
Josephine's impression of William worsened.
She thought, 'What does he mean? Does he really like me as Claudia suggested? If so, I should let him know I'm married to avoid any
further complications.'
Thinking about how he was just outside the elevator door.
Glancing at Claudia, Josephine didn't disturb her and wheeled herself out.
She stepped out of the room and indeed saw William.
William also caught sight of her and promptly strode towards her.
As she reached the elevator, she regretted her decision because she saw what William was holding.
