Chapter 43 Soothing Techniques
Watching Jair lead Doris away, Robin asked, "Are you sure about letting Doris go with Jair, considering his personality?"
"What's there to worry about?" Stuart replied. "If he wants to talk to her, let him. I don't mind."
Robin chuckled, "You may not mind, but Doris might."
Stuart frowned, "There's something..."
Seeing his hesitation, Robin curiously inquired, "What's making you so hesitant?"
Stuart asked, "How to make a girl happy?"
Robin laughed, "You're afraid Doris won't be happy, so you want to cheer her up?"
Stuart ambiguously nodded.
Robin said, "You've asked the right person. I'm good at making girls happy."
As they chatted, Stuart's phone rang. He answered and spoke a few words before hanging up.
Robin asked, "Is it Jair?"
Stuart replied, "He said he wanted to invite Josephine together for dinner tonight."
"Jair..." Robin paused. "I want to go too!"
Josephine had rarely dined with Stuart's friends. The few gatherings were all organized by Jair, and Robin had always been there.
Stuart agreed.
In the afternoon, Josephine received a package and a bouquet at the hospital.
Josephine was not one to keep a low profile at the hospital. With her exceptional medical skills and good looks, she naturally drew attention.
But with Liam by her side, no one dared to tease her.
Today, when someone sent her a package and flowers, a few colleagues who were close to her couldn't help but make a few jokes.
Liam, upon hearing the news, rushed over with an unpleasant expression. "Stuart sends this? What's his intention?"
Josephine said, "Maybe he feels guilty."
Liam said anxiously, "Josie, don't forgive him just because of some gifts. It is nothing to him for spending this money!"
Josephine reassured him, "Don't worry, I know."
Suddenly, Liam thought of something, took out his phone, and found his chat history with Claudia. "Look!"
Josephine looked for a while and understood.
Claudia saw Doris's Instagram and couldn't help but vent about Doris to Liam.
It turned out that Doris also received a purse from Stuart and showed it off on Instagram.
She said her boyfriend had upset her, so he gave her gifts to make amends.
Liam cursed, "His way of appeasing everyone is the same! I know he isn't a good person!"
If Josephine had any hesitation before, after seeing Doris's Instagram, all that was left in her heart was disgust and resentment.
She was about to throw the things away.
Liam stopped her, "Don't throw the purse away. These things are also bought with money. I'll sell them and buy supplies to donate to those in need."
Josephine gave it to him, "It's up to you."
"What about the flowers?" Liam asked.
Josephine said, "Just throw them away."
Not long after, she received a call from Stuart.
With a deep and pleasant voice, Stuart asked, "Do you receive the purse?"
Josephine felt incredibly disgusted at the thought that he had also given the same purse to Doris.
Before Josephine could say anything, he added, "What time do you get off? Jair is back, and we're having dinner together tonight."
Although Josephine had a good impression of Jair, she really wasn't in the mood to have dinner with them.
She said, "I have something to do tonight."
"What do you have to do?" Stuart's voice turned colder. "I tell you we are having dinner together to welcome Jair back, and he specifically said he wanted to invite you."
"Should I be grateful to you then?" Josephine said. "Do you want me to kneel?"
When Josephine had just married Stuart, she tried to mend her relationship with his friends.
But in the end, she was humiliated.
She could tell that by Robin's attitude towards her.
Now, she didn't care much about Stuart, so how could she care about those friends of his?
"Josephine, why are you talking like this?" Stuart snapped, "I've given you a gift; what more do you want?"
A year ago, or even three months ago, Josephine couldn't have imagined herself arguing with Stuart.
"Nothing," she said, "I just find it uninteresting."
"Fine."
With that, Stuart hung up.
Though Josephine had become bolder,every argument with Stuart, regardless of the outcome, left her feeling sad.
She was troubled by love, with only two solutions: either Stuart fell in love with her, or she let go of Stuart.
The first solution was impossible.
So now, she was trying hard to let go of him.
Josephine put down her phone and went to work, but it wasn't long before her phone rang again.
This time, it was Robin calling.
Stuart, rejected by Josephine, felt angry and upset.
Coincidentally, Robin asked him where to eat that night and what time Josephine got off work.
Stuart said she wasn't coming.
Robin then understood what was going on and hung up to call Josephine.
Josephine ignored his call.
The phone rang again.
Josephine blocked him again with impatience.
Robin paced back and forth, angry, and then called Jair.
"Jair, Josephine said she was not coming to the party tonight,"
Robin said, "What should we do now?"
Jair asked in confusion, "Does she have anything to do tonight?"
"No, she's just throwing a tantrum," Robin said, "I don't think she's the best match for Stuart."
"Don't talk nonsense," Jair said, "What are you saying? In my impression, she is sensible and thoughtful. She must have something else to do if she doesn’t come tonight."
"She really doesn’t have anything to do. It’s just… " Robin didn't dare to mention the photo incident, so he said, "Maybe she and Stuart have some conflicts. Stuart even sent her a gift, but she was still so unreasonable."
"They have conflicts?" Jair said, " Is there anything that can't be resolved between a couple? They should sit down and communicate. Let me call Josephine."
Not long after blocking Robin, Josephine received a call from Jair.
Jair said directly, "Josephine, are you and Stuart having conflicts?"
Josephine also had some understanding of his character, so she wasn't surprised to hear him ask, "It's just a small matter, don't worry."
"The couple is the closest relationship in the world," Jair said. "It's normal for couples to argue. After an argument, communicate, resolve the issue, and you're still a family."
Josephine smiled.
Jair said, "In that case, for my sake, come out for dinner tonight, okay?"
Josephine could scold Stuart and block Robin, but she really couldn't refuse Jair.
She had to say, "Okay, I'll go."
