Chapter 14 She Cheated on Stuart
The costume design competition did not provide food and accommodation, and all the contestants had to make their own arrangements.
Josephine and Claudia found a hotel nearby. Claudia carried her competition dress, a small sewing machine, and various fabrics, as she needed to make adjustments to the dress before the next round.
Josephine went downstairs alone, wanting to get some fresh air by the fountain in front of the hotel.
She was in a wheelchair, making it difficult to go anywhere, but she had no problem walking around on the ground floor.
The hotel staff helped her to the entrance, and Josephine thanked them before propelling her wheelchair forward.
She went down the ramp at the side of the hotel, but she wasn't used to it. The slope was steeper than she had imagined. Not paying attention, the wheelchair slid uncontrollably down.
Josephine exclaimed as she saw the wheelchair tilt and was about
to hit the wall due to the speed.
Even if Josephine was calm, she was still a little scared.
She was still thinking of a way to save herself when the wheelchair suddenly stopped.
Josephine was still a little scared. She took a deep breath before looking back.
Behind her stood a tall man.
He was against the light.
Josephine could only see his broad shoulders, strong build, and a blurry face.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
He pushed Josephine down the slope. When they reached the flat ground, he squatted down, looking at Josephine with concern.
Josephine finally got a clear look at him.
The man was handsome. He had a high nose and beautiful eyes. His eyebrows were thick, and his features were well-defined. He looked very masculine.
Josephine quickly smiled at him, "I'm fine, thank you."
The man reached out his hand and said, "Are you from Premland? I'm William Campbell, nice to meet you."
Josephine didn't expect to meet a fellow countryman abroad. She quickly shook his hand and said, "Yes, I am. My name is Josephine Kalmien, and I'm really grateful to you."
"You're welcome." William looked at her foot and asked, "Are you injured? Why are you alone outside?"
Josephine smiled, "I just sprained my ankle. I came with a friend, and she's working in the room. I wanted to take a walk alone, but I almost had an accident."
"With your boyfriend?"
Josephine was taken aback before understanding what he meant.
William was still smiling, but Josephine sensed a hint of frivolity in his smile.
She simply nodded and said, "Yes, I came with my boyfriend."
"Josephine, your boyfriend seems a bit irresponsible. You got hurt, and he let you go out alone. If it were me, I will be worried. By the way, can I call you Josephine?" William said.
He had just helped her, so Josephine didn't feel right to refuse. She said, "Sure. Mr. Campbell, I really appreciate your help, but I have something to do, so I'll be on my way."
"Can I have your contact information?" William asked.
Josephine was a bit hesitant.
William lowered his eyes and said, "I just want to be friends with you. I rarely meet fellow countrymen here. If you don't want to, it's fine."
Josephine had no choice but to say, "I’m sorry, but I have to go back to the hotel."
"I'll take you back."
"No need."
Josephine's protest was in vain. William stood up directly and pushed her wheelchair from behind, escorting her back to the hotel.
William pushed her into the elevator, and Josephine politely bid him farewell. Even if William was shameless, he couldn't go in with her.
He watched as the elevator doors slowly closed, a hint of a smirk on his face.
He liked Josephine's beautiful face.
William casually sat down in the lobby. His secretary had just come over after finishing her work and handed him the information she had found.
This hotel belonged to William. He would occasionally come and stay for a few days, but he didn't expect to meet a beautiful fellow countryman today.
He took the file from his secretary's hand.
His secretary said, "Mr. Campbell, this is Stuart and his wife's.
All the information is there for you to see." William said, handing the file back to Stuart. As he flipped through the pages, his eyes caught on a familiar name: Josephine. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
"What a coincidence." he thought. William now knew that Josephine had lied just now.
She was Stuart's wife. The person she was staying with at the hotel couldn't possibly be her boyfriend.
She wouldn’t overtly cheat on Stuart. William found it amusing that the woman who piqued his interest turned out to be Stuart's wife.
Josephine, on the other hand, had narrowly escaped an accident during her outing. She still felt a lingering fear.
Her injuries hadn't fully healed, and another fall would have been disastrous.
She was grateful for William's help but couldn't shake the feeling that his name was familiar.
Back in the room, Claudia was still working on the lace trim on the clothes. She was unaware that Josephine just narrowly avoided an accident.
Meanwhile, Doris received a mysterious phone call.
Despite being alone, she instinctively lowered her voice. "How did it go? Have you been following her? " She asked.
The voice on the other end reassured her, "Don't worry, we're professionals. We can keep track of her, no matter where she goes."
Doris inquired, "Did you find anything?"
The person replied, "Yes. It seems she's here to meet her lover. They're staying at the same hotel!"
Doris was taken aback.
She thought, 'Is it true? Do I have the evidence I need to confront Josephine? Has she really betrayed Stuart?'
"Send me the photos!" Doris demanded.
After ending the call, she quickly received the incriminating pictures.
In the photos, Josephine and her companion were smiling.
Though they didn't engage in any intimate acts, the man was seen escorting her into the hotel.
It was undeniable evidence!
Doris was thrilled.
However, she soon calmed down.
She pondered, 'I have solid proof now. But how can I casually bring this up to Stuart? I can't let him know that I had someone follow Josephine.'
She had to maintain her innocent image in front of Stuart.
Little did Doris know that Josephine was in the same country, the same city, and even staying in a hotel just two miles away.
Stuart had left with his luggage for a work trip, and Doris had assumed they would be apart for some time.
But Stuart had taken her with him. Despite this, Doris remained vigilant.
Though Stuart treated her well, she still felt uneasy, especially when she saw Josephine.
Doris believed that only if Stuart completely abandoned Josephine and divorced her, she would have a chance to marry him.
Just then, her phone rang.
She quickly answered, "Stuart, do you finish with your meeting?"
Stuart's deep voice came through, "Yes. Come down, and we'll have dinner."
Doris checked her appearance in the mirror.
She usually wore light makeup. S
tuart didn't care much about a woman's appearance and had always thought she didn't wear makeup.
As she left the room, she saw Stuart coming out. She hurried over and said, "Stuart!"
