Chapter 177 Scolding Him
Andrew got a video call from Josephine and was thrilled. "Josephine, where are you? How've you been?"
Josephine smiled, "Grandpa, I'm good. I was at the research institute but got busy and wanted to explore, so I haven't been in touch."
Andrew replied, "As long as you're okay. When are you coming back? I miss you."
Josephine said, "In a few days. I'll definitely visit when I'm back."
They hadn't talked in a while, so Andrew asked her a bunch of questions. They chatted for about half an hour before ending the call.
Stuart took the phone.
Josephine looked down and asked softly, "Happy now?"
Stuart said, "Have you thought about how to talk to Liam?"
Josephine nodded.
Stuart added, "Choose your words wisely. Otherwise, I won't spare the Clement family's business."
Josephine knew Stuart was serious about taking over the Clement family's business. She had to follow his demands and call Andrew and Liam.
Stuart didn't bother with a video call this time; he just dialed Liam's number. He didn't even want Liam to see Josephine's face.
Liam answered quickly, "Josephine?"
Stuart handed the phone to Josephine, vowing that only he could call her name in the future.
Hearing Liam's voice, Josephine teared up and choked.
"Josephine?" Liam called again, "Is that you? Where are you? Can you talk?"
"It's me," Josephine sniffled. "Liam, I heard you were looking for me? What's up?"
"I couldn't reach you," Liam said, relieved. "Why haven't you contacted me?"
"I needed some time to clear my head and travel," Josephine said. "You know I've always wanted to see the world."
Liam replied, "At least let me know. I was worried."
"Okay, I got it," Josephine said. "How's your injury? Can you get out of bed?"
Liam answered, "Recovering slowly. I should be able to move a bit soon. It's a pity my leg isn't better; I'd want to join you."
Stuart sneered silently, thinking, 'Join her? Not a chance!'
Josephine said, "There will be opportunities in the future. By the way, our high school teacher, Mr. Thompson, has a birthday soon. We used to bring gifts every year. Can you send one for me this year? I might not be able to go back."
Liam paused, then said, "Okay, I got it. Anything else?"
Josephine added, "Oh, Mr. Thompson moved. Did you know?"
Liam said, "Moved? I didn't know. Send me the address, and I'll deliver the gift."
They chatted a bit more, and Stuart signaled her. Josephine said, "Alright, I'll contact you later. The place I'm going might not have a signal."
Liam said, "Okay, take care."
After hanging up, Josephine handed the phone over. "Happy now?"
Stuart said, "At least you know what's good for you. But if Liam knew his family's business was saved by a woman, I wonder what his reaction would be."
He always disliked Liam and couldn't resist mocking him.
Josephine closed her eyes, too tired to argue.
Stuart leaned in. "Is Liam really more important to you than me?"
Josephine stayed silent.
Stuart, burning with jealousy, asked, "What is he to you..."
"Enough, Stuart," Josephine said softly, "I need to rest."
Stuart gritted his teeth. "How long are you going to keep this up? Haven't I shown enough sincerity?"
Josephine replied, "Your sincerity just humiliates me."
"You always say that!" Stuart snapped. "Why don't I humiliate others? I did those things because I only love you!"
Josephine found it laughable. "You can't even show basic respect. What's the point of all this?"
Stuart said, "Your so-called respect would just make you leave me. Do you think I can accept that?"
"Then don't talk about your great love," Josephine said. "It's just ironic."
"I don't get why you can't give me a chance," Stuart said painfully. "This is making us both miserable."
"I missed once, and I don't want to miss again," Josephine said. "Stuart, you can't imprison me forever."
"Why can't I?" Stuart said through gritted teeth. "I can do anything!"
"I'm not afraid," Josephine said lightly. "You've already done the worst. I have nothing left to fear."
"You!" Stuart saw the resistance and disgust in her eyes.
Even if he didn't want to admit it, he knew she was right.
With a loud noise, Stuart stormed out, slamming the door.
Josephine lay on the bed, closing her eyes helplessly.
When Jair arrived, he saw several empty bottles in front of Stuart.
He frowned. "Why are you drinking so much?"
The scene was all too familiar.
"Did you fight with Josephine again? Haven't you made up yet? Didn't you apologize?"
Stuart said coldly, "She doesn't give me a chance to make up!"
Jair said, "You made a big mistake. If you apologized, you need to be patient. Why are you still getting angry?"
"I'm already so humble, and she's still indifferent!"
Jair said, "You have two options."
Stuart looked at him. "What options?"
Jair said, "One, keep apologizing with a good attitude, understand your mistake, and never repeat it."
Stuart asked, "What's the other option?"
Jair said, "If you're tired and she doesn't give you a chance, then let it go."
"Let it go? How could I let it go!" Stuart slammed the bottle on the table. "Absolutely not!"
"Then why are you getting angry here?" Jair said. "If you want to win her back, think of ways to change her mind."
"Change her mind?" Stuart sneered. "Do you have a way?"
Jair said, "It's nothing more than..."
"Forget it," Stuart interrupted. "You're someone who's never been in a relationship. I must be out of my mind to seek advice from you."
Jair said angrily, "You called me here! Why insult me? Robin has experience, but none of his advice worked."
