Chapter 463 Worse Off Than Before

Rex said, "I was never a moral person. Are you trying to morally blackmail me?"

Steven angrily replied, "What are you talking about? I'm just stating the facts. She's married now. If you keep being stubborn, even Josephine will look down on you."

Rex said, "People get divorced even after getting married. It's normal. Besides, haven't they divorced once already? If it happened once, it can happen again."

"There's no reasoning with you," Steven said. "Forget it, do what you want. If you really piss Stuart off and he targets you, I won't help you!"

"Switching sides so quickly?" Rex said sarcastically. "Well, your wife and Josephine are good friends, so naturally, you're on her side."

"Rex!" Steven was really angry now. "We've been friends for so many years, and you say this? Is it because of that I'm not helping you? When Josephine was single, I didn't say anything, but now that she's married, I'm advising you, and that's wrong?"

Rex said, "If you're my friend, you should unconditionally stand by my side."

"Unconditionally but with principles!" Steven said. "You're destroying someone else's family. Forget it, why am I even talking to you about this? You don't stand a chance anyway."

Rex said with a bitter smile. "Am I really that much worse than Stuart? If today, I were the one married to Josephine, can you guarantee that Stuart would be a moral person?"

"I can't guarantee that," Steven said. "But the fact is, they are married now, and you are the third party. Do you understand?"

Rex fell silent.

Steven said, "That's it. Think it over yourself. Friendship isn't something to be worn down like this."

With that, he hung up the phone.

Rex's jaw was clenched tightly, holding his phone without moving.

After a while, he made a call, "Arrange the meeting here as soon as possible. After it's over, I'll go back to the States."

The person on the other end said something, and he replied, "I know the situation is urgent. I'll come back overnight."

Josephine was a bit surprised when she received Steven's call. Usually, if Laura had something, she would contact her directly. Steven almost never contacted her alone.

She quickly answered the call.

Steven didn't beat around the bush and got straight to the point, "What I'm about to tell you, please don't tell Laura."

Josephine was puzzled, "What is it? Why can't she know?"

"Rex wants to see you and asked me to arrange it," Steven said. "If Laura finds out, she'll kill me."

Josephine found it amusing, "It's not that serious. But why does he want to see me? If it's nothing important, just refuse for me."

Steven said, "I told him about your marriage. Maybe he wants to have some closure."

Before Rex returned to the States, he called Steven again. Steven was a bit surprised by his decision to come back during a critical project phase.

After all, in his view, Rex had always been a calm and rational person, and nothing and no one had ever changed his decisions. But now, hearing that Josephine got married, he actually left the project to come back, showing how important Josephine was to him.

That was why Steven agreed to help him arrange a meeting with Josephine.

"There's nothing to have closure about between us," Josephine said.

After all, she had never promised Rex anything.

Steven said helplessly, "Just do me a favor and meet him. He came back from abroad just to see you and has to rush back afterward."

"What's the point," Josephine sighed. "Alright, give me the time and place."

Josephine hung up the phone, feeling a bit troubled.

Her time was now either spent with Nicole and the kids or with Stuart. If she wanted to find time to go out alone, she didn't know what excuse to use.

Should she tell Nicole that Stuart needed her for something, and then tell Stuart that Nicole needed her to go out?

Either way, it would be lying to both.

Josephine thought about it and finally decided to talk to Stuart. "I need to go out tonight."

Stuart was busy looking at documents. Hearing this, he looked up at her, "Where are you going? What's the matter? I'll take you."

Josephine quickly said, "No need, you continue with your work. The driver at home can take me."

Stuart raised his hand, and Josephine walked over to sit beside him.

Stuart held her in his arms and asked, "Is everything okay?"

"Well, if I tell you, you can't get mad."

Stuart immediately looked at her, "What's the matter?"

Josephine thought about it and decided she couldn't hide it from him. Stuart was already quite sensitive. If he didn't know, it would be fine, but there was no secret that could be kept forever. If he found out later, he would probably be hurt again. So Josephine decided to tell him the truth.

"Rex wants to see me."

Sure enough, as soon as she said it, Stuart's expression changed. "Why does he want to see you? You can't go! He doesn't have good intentions!"

"I'm just meeting him to talk for a bit. He has to rush back to the States, so there's no time for a long conversation."

"You still want to have a long conversation with him?" Stuart immediately felt wronged. "We're already married. You can't have any feelings for other men."

Josephine couldn't help but laugh, "What feelings could I have for him? After this meeting, we won't see each other again."

"Really?"

Josephine nodded, "Really."

Stuart said, "Then I'll go with you."

Josephine didn't hesitate, "Okay."

Her straightforwardness made Stuart feel a bit embarrassed. He thought for a moment and added, "I'll take you there and wait for you in the car."

"You're not coming in?"

Stuart held her hand, "I trust you."

Josephine kissed him, "Don't worry, I don't like him."

Stuart wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close to his chest, "Then who do you like?"

Josephine put her arms around his neck, "Who do I like, don't you know?"

Stuart was very close to her, their breaths mingling, "If you don't say it, how would I know?"

Josephine chuckled softly, then leaned close to his ear and whispered, "I like you, I like you the most."

Stuart turned his head and kissed her lips.

In the evening, after dinner, Stuart took Josephine out.

In the car, he took out a jewelry box, took out a necklace, and put it on Josephine.

Josephine didn't even see what he took out. "Bought something again?" she asked.

Stuart lifted her hair and carefully put the necklace on her.

"I saw it at an auction I was following. It looked beautiful, and I thought you'd like it, so I bought it."

"I already have so many."

"You having them is your business, me buying them is mine." Stuart leaned back to take a look, "It looks really good."

Josephine smiled, "Thank you. Mom and Gerald have already given me a lot. Don't buy anymore, there's no more space."

Stuart said, "There's no reason for you to marry me and live worse than before. Don't worry about it. I make all this money to spend on you."
