Chapter 489 Regret It Later

Laura didn't eat anything until the afternoon, just some fruit.

She was listless, couldn't muster any energy, and just slumped on the sofa, not wanting to move.

Steven didn't go anywhere, just stayed with her.

And since Laura couldn't eat, he couldn't either.

Laura felt so bad that she didn't even notice he hadn't eaten.

"How about we go to the hospital?" Steven suggested.

Laura weakly replied, "What's the point? It's always the same."

When Claudia went to the hospital, it didn't help at all.

Besides, Laura really hated going to the hospital, and if she had to be admitted, she definitely didn't want to go.

Just then, Laura's phone rang.

She didn't want to answer it, so Steven took a look and saw it was Josephine calling.

Josephine had sent several messages before, but Laura hadn't replied, so she called out of concern.

When the call connected, she asked, "Did you go to the hospital for a check-up?"

Steven said, "No, she's not feeling well and hasn't eaten anything since this morning."

"Did she throw up?" Josephine immediately got worried. "How is she now? I'll come over!"

Steven said, "I suggested going to the hospital, but she doesn't want to go."

"I'm coming right over."

After hanging up, Steven went to Laura and said, "Josephine is coming over."

Laura weakly responded with a hum.

Seeing her like this, Steven felt incredibly heartbroken.

Laura was always full of energy, lively and spirited.

But now, she was a stark contrast to her usual self.

It was impossible for Steven not to feel heartache.

Josephine arrived quickly, with Stuart.

Seeing Laura's condition, she got anxious, "You haven't eaten all day? Still feeling like throwing up?"

Laura weakly nodded.

Steven invited them to sit.

Josephine said, "Let's go to the hospital."

"Going to the hospital won't help."

"Let's at least do an ultrasound," Josephine said. "Did you forget what I told you yesterday?"

In the end, they went to the hospital and got checked.

When Steven saw the ultrasound report, he felt a strange thrill.

Josephine told them, "Look, it's still tiny, right here."

Laura momentarily forgot her discomfort, and the two of them stared at the report for a long time.

Steven even took a photo, then carefully folded it and put it in a file folder.

On the way back, Laura felt a bit better and said she wanted Tom Yum soup.

Stuart said, "I'll make it."

Steven had just learned how to make it but hadn't tried yet, so he said, "Great, I can learn too."

Worried about Laura feeling unwell, they went straight to their house.

Luckily, the kitchen was well-stocked, so Stuart got busy right away, with Steven helping and learning.

Josephine kept Laura company, chatting with her.

Laura felt a bit better, and Josephine started talking about pregnancy precautions.

Laura said, "You can tell me, but don't tell Steven."

Josephine said, "Don't think I don't know you. You'll forget everything soon. Since you've decided to have a baby, you have to be responsible. You can't be reckless during pregnancy and risk the baby's health. You'll regret it later."

"What could go wrong?"

"Many babies are born malnourished, small, and weak, and they get sick easily. Look at well-nourished babies, they're chubby and have good immunity."

"I get it. I'll eat well."

"Unhealthy foods are okay occasionally, but don't think about eating them every day."

"You're even more nagging than my mom."

"Don't worry, I'll definitely tell Steven too, so he can keep an eye on you."

"Spare me," Laura said. "Do you know why I don't want him to know? If he knows I'm pregnant, he'll be overly cautious. If you tell him all that, how will I live?"

"Look at Claudia, so well-behaved, and then look at you."

"I just don't have an appetite," Laura felt wronged. "I don't want to eat anything else."

Josephine sighed, "Just try to eat normal food as much as possible.

Laura laughed. "Being pregnant means I can be a bit special."

Josephine had no choice but to say, "Pregnancy reactions are normal, but keeping a happy mood can lessen them."

Laura said, "As long as Steven doesn't make me angry, I'm always happy."

Steven, who was bringing out a dish, heard this and looked up.

Josephine said, "Aren't you ashamed to say that? You're the one who makes him angry. When has he ever made you angry?"

Laura snorted.

Steven smiled and went back to the kitchen.

After watching Stuart once, he learned how to make it.

After a while, the two men came out of the kitchen.

Laura wanted Tom Yum soup, and it was time for dinner, so they made a few simple dishes.

Stuart asked, "What else do you want me to make? Tell me now, and I'll teach him today."

Laura shook her head. "I haven't had a chance to eat your other dishes."

Josephine said, "You're welcome to come to our house for dinner."

"Is it convenient?" Laura said. "I feel bad."

"Do you ever feel bad?" Josephine served her a bowl of soup. "Try it."

Laura took a sip and nodded, "Delicious!"

Stuart said, "I guided Haustia, and he made it."

Laura was surprised; she couldn't tell the difference.

She gave Steven a thumbs up, "Great job!"

Most of the time, as long as she wasn't being difficult, she could provide a lot of emotional value.

Steven smiled, "This dish has a strong flavor, sour and a bit spicy, so it's actually quite easy to make."

Seeing Laura with an appetite made him happy.

As long as Laura could safely deliver the baby, he would do anything.

But Laura only drank a little soup and didn't want to eat anymore. She didn't touch the other dishes at all.

Before bed, she suddenly wanted ice cream.

Steven couldn't refuse her, so he gave her the smallest one.

Laura ate it contentedly and then fell asleep.

She slept well, and her frown relaxed.

Steven finished his work and then held her as they slept.

Fortunately, in the following days, Laura's condition improved a bit. Apart from occasional mood swings and a small appetite, she didn't throw up again.

She was never overweight, and during this pregnancy, her irregular eating made her visibly thinner.

One day, Josephine and Claudia came to see her.

Claudia was now over four months pregnant, looking fuller and more charming.

Seeing Laura, they thought she was too thin.
