Chapter 137 A Major Dramatic Confrontation Scene
Robin was surprised and asked, "Noon or evening?"
Stuart said, "Evening."
Robin replied, "I'll let her know. I can't make it."
Stuart frowned. "Why not?"
Robin explained, "I've been swamped. Plus, I'm prepping for a new project with an overseas company and have a video call tonight."
Stuart just said, "Alright."
Robin asked, "What's up with you and Josephine? I think she's just trying to get your attention, and you fell for it."
Stuart asked, "What do you mean?"
Robin said, "I get women. Josephine's playing a more sophisticated game. Ignore her. She says she wants to go abroad, but if you act like you don't care, she might come back. The more you chase, the more she'll resist."
Stuart gritted his teeth. "I knew it! Everyone else is fooled by her!"
Robin advised, "Play along. Ignore her for a bit, and she'll come back. Then you can decide what to do."
Stuart stayed silent.
Robin concluded, "Alright, let's drop it. Tomorrow night, Donna will wait for you at the club."
Stuart had doubts after hearing Jair's take on Josephine, but Robin's words made more sense to him.
Jair might sound logical, but he spends most of his time on a military base and has never had a girlfriend. He doesn't get women.
Robin's advice seemed more credible.
Josephine had no clue what Stuart was thinking. After she left, she felt relieved, glad she had contacted Jair earlier.
If he hadn't shown up in time, who knows what Stuart might have done.
Feeling relieved but exhausted, her last bit of affection for Stuart vanished that night.
Josephine went home, took a bath, did her skincare routine, lit an aromatherapy candle, put on an eye mask, and went to sleep.
The next morning, she woke up feeling refreshed, like a new person.
From now on, her life had nothing to do with Stuart. How wonderful.
The sky seemed especially blue today.
In the morning, Liam called to say her visa process was complete; barring any issues, she'd have it in two weeks.
Josephine couldn't wait to share the good news with Claudia and the others.
Claudia and Laura were thrilled. Laura sent a voice message: [We must celebrate! Dinner's on me tonight!]
Liam: [I have a surgery, not sure when it'll end. You guys go ahead. I'll join you later.]
Josephine packed for her trip abroad. At 5 PM, she changed clothes and headed to meet Claudia and Laura.
At the same time, Stuart got news about the restaurant they were going to.
Laura arrived first, only to be told their reserved private room had electrical issues, so the air conditioning and lighting weren't working, and they'd have to dine in the main hall.
Laura asked, "What about other private rooms?"
The waiter replied, "Sorry, all other private rooms are booked."
Laura didn't mind and found a window seat after checking with everyone.
Josephine and Claudia arrived soon after.
Not knowing when Liam would show up, they started eating.
They'd been friends for years and didn't mind.
Laura raised her glass, "To Josephine's bright future!"
Claudia added, "Yes, away from bad men, healthy, and with a promising future!"
Josephine smiled and raised her glass. "Thank you."
They were chatting and laughing when Claudia tugged on Josephine's sleeve.
Josephine asked, "What's up?"
Claudia said, "Look behind you."
Josephine turned and saw a familiar face—Doris.
The last she heard about Doris was from Claudia, who said Doris was flaunting a Starlight Festival gift from Stuart on Instagram.
With her recent divorce and plans to go abroad, she had almost forgotten about Doris.
Now, Doris was glaring at her with jealousy and malice.
Laura noticed too. "Josephine, did you kill her parents or burn her house down? She looks like she wants to kill you."
Claudia said, "No, she stole Josephine's husband."
Before she could finish, Doris stormed over.
"Josephine!" she fumed. "You deceitful, vicious woman!"
Josephine was baffled.
Laura wasn't having it, "You were the vicious one!"
Doris' eyes welled up with tears in irritation..
She looked at Josephine, sobbing. "You must have said something to Stuart; that's why he's treating me like this! You're divorced, but you still won't let me be. You're trying to ruin me, you heartless woman!"
Josephine was speechless.
Laura chimed in, "You're just a mistress. Are you proud of it? Who gave you the nerve to act so arrogant in front of Josephine? You have no shame or conscience!"
Josephine sighed, "I don't want to argue, but that doesn't mean I'm easy to bully. Doris, any decent person would feel ashamed. The problem isn't us; you intruded on someone else's marriage, and that's wrong."
"You two are divorced now!" Doris gritted her teeth. "I'm not a mistress anymore!"
Josephine said, "Then I wish you two a lifetime together."
Laura swirled her wine glass. "Yeah, you two shameless people deserve each other forever!"
Doris's face turned pale, and she looked like she was about to collapse.
In the middle of winter, she had taken off her coat, wearing only a white turtleneck knit dress, making her look even more fragile and helpless.
"You all..." Doris's tears fell; she looked like a delicate flower in a storm. "You're bullying me too much."
The three women found her behavior baffling.
Claudia glanced up and saw Stuart! She instantly understood that all of Doris's actions were just an act! All to make Stuart see!
Unfortunately, Doris probably didn't realize her information was incomplete.
Stuart wasn't alone. Beside him was someone who looked more like Stuart's first love, with a demeanor and appearance far superior to Doris—Donna.
Laura saw it too. She put down her wine glass, curved her lips into a wicked smile. "Wow! What a dramatic showdown! This is so damn exciting!"
