Chapter 219 What Are You Doing Here?
Josephine didn't plan to open the door and just asked, "Who is it?"
"It's me, Stuart," he replied from outside.
"What's up?" she asked, her tone cold.
Stuart sighed and said, "Grandpa had a check-up last month. He wants you to look at the results."
Even though she suspected Stuart was using this as an excuse, Josephine couldn't refuse.
She opened the door. "What's wrong with Grandpa?"
Stuart handed her the medical report.
Josephine started flipping through it without sitting down.
Most of Andrew's indicators were fine, except for slightly high blood lipids, cholesterol, and triglycerides, especially the low-density lipoprotein.
After reading it, Josephine said, "I'll call Grandpa later."
Stuart added, "There's one more thing I need to ask you, Josephine."
Seeing his serious expression, she said, "Go ahead."
"I got punched a few times by Rex while standing up for you. Can you help me apply some medicine?" Stuart asked.
Josephine frowned. "Standing up for me? Did I ask you to?"
Stuart quickly clarified, "That's not what I meant. Just, Josephine, please have mercy on me. Look at my face, all bruised."
Josephine, who had been worried about Andrew, now looked closely at Stuart's face. His lip was split, and there were bruises.
Stuart raised his hand to take off his shirt. "There are more on my body."
"Stop!" Josephine scolded, "Did I said I would help you? Get out!"
Stuart said in an aggravated voice, "I'm already like this."
"Stop pretending to be pitiful!" Josephine was furious. "Did I ask you to fight? You're a grown man, and still so foolish? You used to fight with Liam, now with Rex. What else can you do besides fight?"
Stuart admitted, "Yes, it's my fault for fighting. But Rex is not a good person! He's so old and still pursues you! Who does he think he is?"
Josephine held back and said, "What's the difference between you and Rex?"
Stuart was taken aback, then after a few seconds of silence, he spoke again, "I'm going back to Hustalia tomorrow. It's not good for Grandpa to see me like this. For Grandpa's sake, can you help me apply some medicine, Josephine? Just treat me as a regular patient, okay?"
Josephine listened, then reached for the first aid kit.
Seeing this, Stuart was immediately happy, but when he grinned, it pulled on his wound, making him gasp in pain.
Josephine glared at him. "Shut up!"
Stuart obediently closed his mouth, blinking at Josephine with an innocent look.
Josephine looked away and started disinfecting and applying medicine to him.
When she was done, he said, "There are more on my body."
Josephine said, "Take it off."
Stuart happily took off his shirt.
Josephine didn't hesitate, treating him like a regular patient, quickly disinfecting and applying medicine.
It didn't even take two minutes.
"All done," she said.
Stuart was stunned, still staring at Josephine's face. "All done?"
Josephine got up, put away the things, and went to wash her hands.
When she came back out, she said, "That's it; you can go now. No need to thank me. Next time something like this happens, go to the hospital, and don't come to me. Much appreciated."
Stuart was speechless.
Josephine said, "Stuart, if you want to pursue me, that's your business. But don't drag me into it. I'm a doctor, not your personal nurse."
Stuart lowered his eyes. "I didn't think it through. I just wanted to see you."
"Leave. I'm tired," Josephine replied.
Stuart got up, walked to her side, and said softly, "I'm sorry."
After he left, Josephine sat in a daze for a while.
She didn't know how much time had passed when the doorbell rang again.
Thinking it was Stuart, she frowned and thought, 'Is it not over yet?'
She yanked open the door. "You..."
Standing outside was Rex, looking just as beat up as Stuart.
Josephine thought, 'Is he also here for medicine?'
If she had known, she would have prepared some poison to teach them a lesson!
Rex spoke, "Didn't expect me, did you?"
"What's up?" Josephine replied flatly.
Rex, despite his injuries, looked at ease. "Not going to invite me in?"
"It's not convenient," Josephine said directly. "If you have something to say, say it. If not, I'm closing the door."
"Of course, I have something," Rex said unhurriedly. "You always keep your word, right?"
Josephine was taken aback. "What did I say?"
"About the necklace, you said you'd treat me to a meal," Rex reminded her.
"Of course," Josephine said helplessly. She had been polite, but Rex remembered it.
She indeed said it, but no one takes polite words seriously.
Besides, the necklace was borrowed without Josephine's knowledge. If she had to thank someone, it would be Laura.
Rex had the nerve to think he deserved credit.
"How about today?" Rex asked.
Josephine shook her head.
Rex's face changed. "Going back on your word?"
Josephine said, "Since we're talking about a meal, Mr. Armstrong, you should remember what I said that day."
She was referring to the fact that she and Laura would treat Rex to a meal later.
"Laura was the introducer. Without her, I wouldn't have been able to borrow your necklace," Josephine said. "So, when she comes, I'll definitely treat you to a meal."
Rex didn't expect that after all he said, he still didn't get his way.
Josephine shut him out, but he didn't leave. He picked up his phone and called Steven.
Hustalia wasn't far from Celestia Springs; if he came now, he could still make it for dinner.
Laura had wanted to come over when she heard Josephine had gone to Rex's hot spring resort, but Steven stopped her.
Steven, of course, wanted to help Rex and was afraid Laura would ruin things. He assured her that Josephine would not be humiliated or harmed in any way. Only then did Laura not come.
But now, Steven said he was going to Celestia Springs.
Laura looked at him suspiciously. "Are you senile?"
Laura always insulted him, and now she was saying he was senile. She couldn't say a single nice word.
Steven was so angry he kissed her for a while.
Finally, he said, "Aren't you worried about Josephine? I'll take you to see if Rex is sincere."
Laura immediately packed her things and went with him.
When they arrived, Josephine was very surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Josephine thought, 'Isn't this just making things worse?'
She had thought that the chances of her, Laura, and Rex getting together in the future were slim, and she could use that to get out of treating Rex to a meal. Who knew Laura would come over.
