Chapter 568 Don't Regret It Later

At lunchtime in the cafeteria, Isadora blocked Ulysses.

"Ulysses!" She called out with a smile, then jogged up to him. "Don't eat in the cafeteria! I'll treat you to a big meal!"

Ulysses, knowing things had turned out well, still asked her, "What's going on? Did your family's issue get resolved?"

"Yeah," Isadora tilted her head and looked at him. "It's resolved, so I want to treat you to a big meal!"

"I didn't even help. Why are you treating me to a big meal?"

"Because of your good words," Isadora said. "You said things would get resolved, and they did."

Ulysses said, "No need, I think the cafeteria food is pretty good."

"Ulysses," Isadora leaned closer to him, "are you really short on money?"

Ulysses looked at her, "Yes, very short."

"Then I'll give you a job to make money, will you do it?"

"What? Be your personal assistant again?"

"No, no," Isadora waved her hand and said, "be my boyfriend, how about that?"

Ulysses said, "Not interested."

Isadora said, "You need to make money anyway. Be my boyfriend, I'll pay you, isn't that good?"

"Of course not, making money by selling myself, do you think that's good?"

"I won't make you sell yourself." Isadora's ears turned a bit red. "What are you thinking, you rogue!"

Ulysses wanted to laugh, "Isadora, you're thinking of keeping me, and you call me a rogue?"

"I'm not keeping you!" Isadora said. "It's just... You know how people hire boyfriends or girlfriends to go home for the holidays? Why can't I hire one?"

"Then go hire someone else," Ulysses said. "I love money, but I want to earn it properly. I don't want to earn your money."

"You really are..." Isadora stomped her foot in frustration. "Fine, I'll treat you to a meal, you have to give me some face, right?"

"Isadora, relationships between people are reciprocal. If you treat me to a big meal, I won't have the financial means to return the favor. So, let's forget it."

Isadora said, "But you treated me to a meal last time."

Ulysses said, "Then this time, you can treat me to the cafeteria."

"I don't have a meal card."

"No problem," Ulysses thought of a solution. "I'll pay, and you can transfer the money to me later."

Isadora was fuming, thinking Ulysses was just a straightforward man who didn't understand romance!

Even for a meal, he wanted her to transfer the money.

She offered to treat him to a big meal, and he wouldn't go!

Isadora felt frustrated.

Despite her frustration, Isadora still followed him into the cafeteria.

Seeing her obediently following him, Ulysses' lips curled up slightly.

Back at the dorm, a few roommates surrounded him with questions.

"Are you and Isadora together?"

"I saw you two chatting and laughing in the cafeteria!"

"Come on, tell us, how far have you two gone?"

Ulysses waved his hand, "Alright, alright, one at a time, I'll tell you all. We're not together, just ordinary friends, just having a meal in the cafeteria, what are you guys thinking?"

"Really?"

"Really," Ulysses said. "When have I ever kept anything from you guys?"

Only then did the others let it go.

Meanwhile, in the classroom, Charlotte was showing off the bracelet her boyfriend had given her.

"This bracelet is the latest model, over ten thousand dollars!" A classmate next to her said.

Charlotte said, "You have good taste."

Another classmate said, "Speaking of which, that Ulysses from the finance department used to chase after Charlotte. He didn't even consider his own situation, with barely a few hundred dollars on him, working part-time every day, and he had the nerve to chase Charlotte!"

Everyone laughed together.

Madeline happened to pass by and couldn't help but speak up, "What's past is past, why are you still talking about it? Don't you know it's wrong to gossip about others?"

"What does it have to do with you? What? Do you know Ulysses?"

"Yeah, does it concern you? You already have a boyfriend, and you're still thinking about other guys. If your boyfriend finds out, it wouldn't be appropriate, would it?"

These people were really unpleasant, but Madeline wasn't afraid of them.

She directly said, "Ulysses is my friend, and my boyfriend knows. Do you think it's right to talk about people behind their backs? A bracelet worth over ten thousand dollars is considered valuable to you, but you really haven't seen anything good."

Madeline's family was well-off, and her boyfriend was also a rich second-generation, so when she said this, the others really couldn't argue.

But Charlotte was also very angry, "What? Did we say something wrong? Can Ulysses afford a bracelet worth over ten thousand dollars?"

"How do you know he can't afford it?"

Charlotte sneered, "If he can afford it, he probably has to use three months of part-time wages to buy it, right?"

Everyone laughed maliciously.

Madeline couldn't be bothered with these people. She said, "Some things can't be judged by appearances. Charlotte, I hope you won't regret it in the future."

Charlotte scoffed, "A poor guy, what would I regret? Even if he becomes successful in the future, at most he'll start a small company, can he become a tycoon?"

Madeline smiled meaningfully and then walked away.

Charlotte felt a bit uneasy, but she didn't dare to openly fall out with Madeline.

But everyone in the class knew that their relationship wasn't good.

Ever since his roommates saw him eating with Isadora, Ulysses had been trying to avoid her.

Isadora had now returned to her carefree self.

After all, her family's issues were resolved, and her parents were as happy as if it were a holiday every day.

Isadora had no more pressure.

She didn't plan to learn how to do business; she would find a boyfriend in the future and let him take over the family business.

She thought Ulysses was pretty good, who was diligent, kind, and capable.

He could handle several part-time jobs a day, so his physical condition must be good.

And despite her offering him a lot of money to be her boyfriend, he wasn't tempted.

Such a good man was rare.

Isadora thought she should hold on to Ulysses and eventually win him over.

That way, Ulysses could manage the company for her family.

Yes, this plan was flawless!

No wonder she had searched for so long in school to find the right person.

If she told her parents, they would definitely praise her.

Isadora now followed Ulysses almost every day, wherever he went, she went.

After a while, seeing the two of them always together, there were bound to be some rumors at school.

One day, Isadora ran into Charlotte, who said to her, "As a classmate, I'll give you a heads-up. That Ulysses is poor and stingy, what do you see in him?"

Isadora said, "You say he's poor because you're not rich either. I have money, so if he's with me, he won't be poor. If he's not poor, he won't be stingy."

Charlotte was furious, "I'm giving you a kind reminder, and you don't appreciate it! There are so many stories of guys from poor families being ungrateful and treating their wives badly after marriage, haven't you learned from them?"

Isadora said, "Thank you, but I think Ulysses is different from them."

Though she said that, Isadora was actually troubled.

She had been pursuing Ulysses for so long, but he remained unmoved.

She hadn't made any progress at all.
