Chapter 561 I'm Afraid They Might Fight

Stuart knew that Josephine was also a bit sensitive.

But comparatively, Josephine was much more reasonable than Laura.

Laura was the type who wouldn't let go of any mistake.

This time, she caught Steven's mistake, who knew how she would make a fuss.

Stuart guessed right, up until now, Steven was still standing outside the door, and Laura hadn't even opened the door for him.

"I'll go down and take a look," Josephine waited for a while but still felt uneasy.

"What are you going down for?" Stuart stopped her: "It's their marital issue, we shouldn't interfere."

"I'm not interfering, I'm just going to take a look."

"Even if a couple fights, they'll make up quickly. What are you going to see? The door is closed, you can't see anything."

"I'm just going to take a look, what's wrong with that?" Josephine said, "I'm afraid they might start fighting."

"How could that be? Fine, I'll go with you."

The two went downstairs and awkwardly found that their worry was unnecessary because Steven was still pleading at the door.

"No way," seeing Stuart and Josephine, he wasn't embarrassed. "She won't let me in."

After coaxing for a long time, there was no response from inside.

Josephine thought Laura was being too much.

Regardless of whether someone made a mistake, they should at least be given a chance to explain.

She said, "Let me try."

She knocked on the door: "Laura, it's me."

There was a quick response from behind the door.

Laura opened the door, leaving just a crack. "Do you want to come in?"

Josephine couldn't help but laugh. "Steven is here, at least let him in."

"Why should I let him in? Seeing him ruins my mood!"

Steven quickly said, "It's not what you think, let me explain..."

Josephine pushed him. "Hurry up and get in."

Steven didn't dare to use force, afraid that Laura might fall if she lost her balance.

Josephine reached in, grabbed Laura's arm, and squeezed through the door crack.

Laura, afraid of squeezing her, quickly opened the door.

Josephine went in, holding Laura's arm and guiding her back.

Only then did Steven enter.

Josephine, having accomplished her mission, said, "You two talk it out, no fighting."

Then she left.

Stuart looked at her and smiled.

She asked, "What are you smiling at?"

"You look like a teacher mediating a fight between kindergarten kids," Stuart replied.

They both smiled at each other.

Steven finally entered the room and immediately said, "Laura, how could you sneak out while I wasn't looking? Do you know how worried I was?"

Laura got on the bed, leaning against the headboard.

Next to her were various fruits that Josephine had someone prepare for her.

She said, "I was afraid of staying home and interrupting your romance with a college girl."

"You really are..." Steven sat by the bed, looking at her. "What college girl, she's really my niece."

"You don't even have a brother, where did this niece come from?" Laura said, "The Bailey Family people are all enemies, where did you get a brother?"

"She's from my mother's side, the girl is my mother's aunt's son's child, does that make sense to you?"

"How do you know? Why didn't you recognize her before?"

"That girl had seen my photo at home before, she recognized me on stage that day, mentioned my mother's aunt's name, and asked if I knew her, that's how I found out she's my cousin's child."

Laura rolled her eyes and said nothing.

"Now that you know, are you still mad?" Steven said, "I was even planning to invite her grandmother and father over to meet us."

Laura knew Steven had no relatives left in the Bailey Family.

On his mother's side, he hadn't mentioned them before.

This explanation made sense, and Steven's previous conversations were all about asking the girl about her family's preferences to prepare for them.

"Then why didn't you tell me?"

"You've been a bit irritable these days, so I thought I wouldn't tell you."

Laura glared at him. "Do you know why I've been irritable?"

"Laura," Steven hugged her. "You're pregnant now, there are many things you can't eat. Eating those things isn't healthy, it's bad for you and the baby."

"Baby, baby, is the baby all you care about now?"

Steven put her hand on his chest. "Honey, you can cut it open and see if it's filled with you."

"Why are you so gory?" Laura glared at him. "Don't scare the baby."

"I'm such a miserable dad. Baby," he touched Laura's belly, "When you come out, can you stand up for me?"

Laura continued to glare. "What are you thinking? I gave birth to him, shouldn't he side with me?"

"Yes, you have worked hard." Steven said, "So dear, can we go home now?"

"No," Laura said, "I'm waiting to eat Stuart's pancakes tomorrow morning."

"Didn't I learn how to make them?"

"The taste is still a bit different. If I can eat the original, why eat a copy?"

Steven was furious. "I'm a copy now?"

Laura ignored him.

Steven pitifully got on the bed and hugged her. "Then let's make do here for the night, tomorrow I'll taste Stuart's pancakes and see what's different. I think mine tastes better than his!"

Laura held back her laughter. "What a ridiculous sense of competition."

"Of course, because you call me a copy."

"Don't worry, in other places you're a copy, but as the baby's dad, you're definitely the original."

The two cuddled and slept.

Josephine saw they didn't come out and felt relieved.

With Laura's temper, if Steven had really done something, he would have been kicked out.

Early the next morning, Stuart dutifully went to the kitchen.

Last night, Steven messaged him to cook.

Now, nothing was more important than a pregnant woman.

Stuart had no objections.

Laura usually stayed in bed at home, but today she got up early to eat Stuart's pancakes.

She was very happy while eating, completely satisfied. "This is the taste!"

Which led to Steven glaring at Stuart. "Did you secretly hide some exclusive recipe and not teach me?"

The breakfast atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. Andrew was happy today and ate half a pancake more.

After breakfast, Laura finally agreed to go home with Steven.

Before leaving, she didn't forget to set a condition, she wanted pasta for lunch.

Steven decided to make it himself.

He didn't trust the ones outside.

No choice, he had a wife who was such a foodie.

But later, Laura accompanied Steven to the university, met the girl, and also called Ulysses out.
