Chapter 419 Will It Affect Our Relationship?

Kathy's hard-earned courage was instantly shattered by that remark. She held her phone and sighed. Forget it, after all, her feelings for Gerald were just the kind of admiration an ordinary person has for a celebrity, not real emotions. It was still not too late to back out now.

However, if before, she could only look up to a man like Gerald. But after what Josephine said, she had a faint sense of expectation.

Thinking about Gerald's face and his overall demeanor, Kathy gritted her teeth, picked up her phone, and shamelessly sent another message.

But after that, Gerald didn't reply.

Kathy sighed. She felt that the distance between her and Gerald was as far as the sky and the ground, so far that it seemed impossible for them to be together.

But everyone has dreams. Kathy closed her eyes and cheered herself up.

Then the next morning, she opened her eyes and picked up her phone to send a message to Gerald.

Gerald had just finished his morning workout. Although he was busy, he still maintained the habit of running for half an hour every morning.

Gerald, in his forties, kept himself in great shape, and standing next to Stuart, he was not inferior at all.

He saw the message on his phone, it was from Kathy: [Good morning.]

Gerald frowned, feeling an urge to block Kathy. But thinking of Josephine, he held back.

While having breakfast, he saw Josephine and asked her, "Did you meet with Kathy?"

"Oh, yeah," Josephine said quickly, "Gerald, why are you asking all of a sudden? We even took a photo together, do you want to see it?"

"Why would I want to see that?" Gerald said, "It's good that you're making friends, but did you say something to her?"

"What could I have said to her?" Josephine said, "But I think Kathy has a good impression of you, she really admires you."

"So you two are friends now?"

"Of course!"

"Okay, then gently tell her not to message me anymore."

"What?" Josephine exclaimed, clearly upset. "Gerald, Kathy reached out to you first. Why are you acting this way?"

Gerald was never one for relationships, and most of his friends were colleagues. Anyone bold enough to confess their feelings to him would be promptly deleted from his contacts.

Kathy was the exception, and the only reason she hadn't been deleted was because of Josephine.

"What attitude should I have? Chat with her? Do I have the time for that?"

"Gerald, if you keep this attitude, you'll be single for life!"

"I was planning on that. I'm busy with work, so busy that I can't take care of family, why drag Kathy into it."

"No matter how busy you are, you have downtime. Are you planning to wait until you retire to find an old lady? Can an old lady have feelings for you? Maybe she's just after your pension!"

Gerald couldn't help but laugh, "You've planned that far ahead for me?"

Josephine rested her chin on her hand, "Actually, I'm curious, Mom worries about me all the time, why doesn't she consider your marriage?"

Gerald said, "She has Ulysses, what more does she want?"

"But you're alone, what if you get sick? There's no one to take care of you."

"There is, isn't there you guys? Besides, I can go to the hospital; there are doctors and nurses. Worst case, there's Ulysses, the slacker son."

Josephine laughed, "Ulysses is great, how is he slacker?"

"Joking aside, tell Kathy not to message me, or I'll delete her."

"Don't!" Josephine tugged at his sleeve, "Gerald, I've never asked you for anything, this is the first time, don't delete her, she doesn't affect you, just consider her another friend."

"When do I have time to make friends?"

"Then just ignore her."

Gerald sighed, helplessly said, "I got it."

Nicole had asked him to go on blind dates before, and he could refuse firmly. But for Josephine, he would do anything.

Gerald went to work, and Josephine quickly messaged Kathy: [Keep it up!]

Kathy replied: [Gerald is ignoring me.]

Josephine: [That's why I'm telling you to keep it up, you don't have a crush on anyone else now, what if you win him over?]

Kathy: [Right, then I'd hit the jackpot!]

Josephine had interacted with Kathy a few times and thought she was a good person, so she was actively trying to match them.

More importantly, she had a gut feeling that Gerald didn't reject Kathy.

She couldn't explain why; it was just a feeling she had.

After getting ready, Josephine also planned to go out. She had an appointment with a psychologist today, and to be honest, she was a bit nervous.

Now she finally understood how patients felt when seeking medical help.

Stuart came to pick her up and took her to the doctor's office.

On the way, Stuart comforted her, telling her not to be nervous and just to chat casually with the doctor. Despite his words, Josephine felt that Stuart himself seemed a bit nervous.

Because they didn't know how serious Josephine's condition was or if she could recover, they didn't say much.

When they arrived, Stuart held her hand and led her inside. Since they had an appointment, they didn't wait and went straight into the doctor's office.

After a few words, Stuart was asked to leave. He looked at Josephine with some concern, and Josephine smiled at him, "It's okay." Only then did Stuart leave.

He waited in the reception area, feeling a bit uneasy. After almost half an hour, the doctor's door finally opened. He quickly stood up and walked over, "Josephine?"

Josephine shook her head at him, "It's okay."

The doctor called from inside, "Mr. Haustia, please come in."

Josephine said, "I'll wait for you outside."

After Stuart went in, he quickly asked, "How is she?"

"Not a big problem."

Stuart immediately breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."

"Because most of the problem lies with you."

"Me?"

"Yes," the doctor said, "From the information Ms. Kalmien provided, your mental state at the time was somewhat unstable."

Stuart lowered his eyes, "Yes, I was very irritable and didn't want her to leave."

"So, for treatment, we need both of you to cooperate. And the key person is you."

Stuart hadn't expected that accompanying Josephine to see a psychologist would end up revealing his own issues.

They were silent on the way back. When they arrived at the place they had planned to have lunch, Stuart finally spoke, "Josephine, I'm sorry."

"Here we go again?" Josephine held his hand, "Don't blame yourself, the doctor said we can gradually improve."

"But if it weren't for me, we wouldn't have..."

"Don't think about that." Josephine asked, "I just want to know, will our current situation affect our relationship? Will you break up with me because of this?"

Stuart quickly shook his head, "Of course not!"

"Then that's it. This isn't a big problem, we'll take it slow, and we'll be fine."
