Chapter 543 I Won't Be Mean to You Anymore

Kathy was taken aback.

Then she turned her head to look out the window, not wanting to admit that she was scared by Gerald.

The more Kathy thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, and her eyes turned red in an instant.

Gerald pulled her, "Look at me."

Kathy avoided him, twisting her body, "I won't!"

Her voice was clearly choked with emotion.

Gerald was stunned for a moment, then reached out to grab her shoulders.

Kathy was forced to turn around, and only then did Gerald see that she was crying.

"What's wrong?" Gerald hurriedly wiped her tears, "Don't cry, please don't cry."

"Why are you being so mean?" The more Kathy thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, "You're so mean."

Gerald was at a loss, "How was I mean?"

He recalled what he had just said and sighed, "Why don't you listen to what you said?"

Kathy said, "What did I say? No matter what I said, you can't be mean to me. I'm not your subordinate."

Her crying made Gerald's heart ache.

"Okay, okay, I was wrong. I'm sorry. I won't be mean anymore, okay?"

Kathy glared at him fiercely, tears still in her eyes, "Did I say something wrong? Didn't you choose me because I happened to be there at the right time?"

Gerald felt like being mean to her again.

But he took a deep breath and suppressed his emotions.

He said, "Do you think you're right? In your eyes, am I that kind of person?"

Kathy sniffled and didn't say anything.

Gerald continued, "So you've always thought that way. That's why when I proposed to you, you thought I was doing it to repay you for saving me, right?"

Kathy said, "Isn't that the case?"

Gerald gritted his teeth, "Sometimes I really want to strangle you."

He leaned in close to her and couldn't help but nibble on her earlobe.

"I think you're trying to drive me crazy," Gerald said. "I've told you before, no one can force me to do anything, not even my mom or Josephine. If I wanted to be single for the rest of my life, they couldn't stop me."

Kathy looked at him with tearful eyes, "But, but..."

"But what?" Gerald wiped her tears with his thumb. "Silly girl, if you have something to say, why not ask me directly instead of keeping it to yourself and feeling sad?"

"You were mean to me."

Gerald had no choice but to say, "It was my fault. I reflect on it. I won't do it again. Please forgive me, okay?"

Kathy let out a soft humph.

Gerald enjoyed her little tantrum towards him.

Since they had been together, Kathy had always been accommodating and gentle.

But Gerald had always hoped she would throw a tantrum at him.

In a normal relationship, there were always arguments and disagreements.

If one of them had to give in, he hoped it would be him.

He held Kathy's hand and kissed her fingertips, "Babe, please forgive me. From now on, let's communicate more and talk things out, okay?"

With his sweet voice coaxing her, Kathy felt like she was being enchanted.

But being so easily coaxed by Gerald made Kathy feel like she had no backbone.

She forced herself not to look at him.

Gerald continued to coax her, "If there's anything in the future, just tell me. I'll apologize if I need to, and I'll change if I need to. In any case, I won't let you feel aggrieved again."

Kathy couldn't resist this.

She said, "So you really are with me because you like me?"

After saying this, she felt very embarrassed.

It was as if she was chasing Gerald for an explanation.

"What do you think?"

Kathy realized that Gerald always liked to throw the question back at her.

Because he never gave a direct answer, Kathy would overthink.

She said, "I won't say. I want you to answer."

"Okay." Gerald kissed her fingertips again before saying, "Kathy, I like you. Although we haven't been together for long, the moment I kissed you, I was ready to spend my life with you. No one can force me to do anything, but liking you is something I can't control. And there's no one or anything that can separate us. Unless you don't like me anymore."

"I won't." Kathy was deeply moved.

She said, "I like you too."

Gerald hugged her, "Kathy, I'm sorry. I owe you a proper confession. I thought what I did was enough to give you a sense of security, but it seems I was wrong."

"It's not that," Kathy reflected after her tantrum, "I was just a little scared. I was worried you were with me out of convenience. And because of the earthquake, you didn't want to owe me anything, so you proposed to me."

Gerald smiled bitterly, "Even if you saved my life in the earthquake, if I didn't like you, there are many ways to repay you. I proposed to you because I want to spend my life with you. It has nothing to do with whether you saved me or not."

Kathy felt overjoyed hearing this.

She thought she was too easy to coax.

Gerald's few words had already made her feel better.

"Don't cry anymore. It makes me feel bad." Gerald unbuckled her seatbelt. "Come to the passenger seat. I'll drive. You need to take care of your shoulder."

This time, Kathy obediently switched seats with him.

She moved to the passenger seat, and Gerald sat in the driver's seat. He leaned over to buckle her seatbelt and kissed her cheek.

"Where were you planning to go just now?" He asked, "I saw you had a destination in mind."

Kathy felt embarrassed.

Gerald looked at her curiously, "Hmm?"

Kathy said, "I'll navigate. You... just drive."

Gerald had no objections, "Okay."

Kathy gave him directions, telling him to turn or go straight at intersections.

Gerald didn't ask where they were going and just followed Kathy's instructions.

At the last intersection, they were almost there.

Kathy had him pull over.

Gerald looked around.

He wasn't familiar with the area.

He asked, "Are we there? Where do you want to go?"

Kathy didn't answer his question but asked, "Will you go wherever I take you?"

Gerald said, "Of course, I'll go. No matter where it is."

"And will you do whatever I ask?"

Gerald thought for a moment and said, "As long as it's not illegal, I'll do it."

With the conversation at this point, Kathy didn't ask any more questions.

A man like Gerald, who kept his promises, would definitely keep his word.

Kathy got out of the car, and Gerald followed.

"Take your bag," Kathy reminded.

Gerald thought she was worried about leaving the bag in the car, so he took his briefcase.

Kathy held his hand, "Then, follow me. No matter where we go, you can't regret it."

Gerald smiled, "I won't regret it."
