Chapter 132 Do You Still Think She Doesn't Want To Divorce You?
Jair chimed in, "You should talk less."
Stuart shot back, "She doesn't really want a divorce!"
Jair reminded him, "She's already divorced you! Wake up!"
Stuart sneered, "You have no idea how much she likes me! The divorce is just a tactic!"
Josephine, who had just sat down, stood up again. "Mr. Cook, there's no point in continuing this. I came out of respect, but let's not do this again."
She turned to leave.
Jair quickly stood up to stop her. "Josephine, ignore him. He's just being difficult right now."
Then he turned to Stuart. "Shut up!"
Jair was older than Stuart, known for his integrity, and always busy at the military base. He once nearly sacrificed his life to save civilians, so Stuart always respected him.
Seeing Stuart quiet down, Jair turned to Josephine. "Josephine, listen. Marriage isn't easy. Stuart has his flaws, but I'll make sure he changes. Plus, your families' businesses are connected. Think about it..."
"Mr. Cook," Josephine interrupted, "Thanks, but it's unnecessary. For me, divorce is final, and I won't look back."
Stuart, hearing this, got angry again. "Don't worry, I won't look back either! Josephine, I was going to give you another chance, but now I see it's pointless!"
"Exactly," Josephine replied, "Don't give me a chance. Thanks."
"Let her go!" Stuart shouted, "If you have the guts, don't come looking for me ever again!"
"Don't worry, I won't," Josephine said, "And I hope you won't bother my friends in the future. Let's keep our distance."
Stuart's anger boiled. "Fine, Josephine. I'll wait for the day you come begging! When that day comes, even if you kneel, I won't care!"
Josephine smiled. "Maybe, who knows? But I'm leaving the country soon, and I won't be back for years, Mr. Haustia..."
"What did you say?" Stuart interrupted, "You're leaving? Where to? Why won't you come back?"
His tone was urgent, his expression agitated. Jair watched, shaking his head.
Bystanders saw things clearly, while those involved can't. It was true.
Stuart clearly had feelings for Josephine, so why wouldn't he admit it?
Hearing she was leaving, look how anxious he got!
Josephine said, "Mr. Haustia, this is my life plan, and it has nothing to do with you, so I don't want to tell you."
She then looked at Jair. "Mr. Cook, if there's nothing else, I'll be going. If my friends need help and you see it, I hope you can lend a hand."
Jair asked, "Are you moving abroad permanently?"
Josephine replied, "No, there's a research project that invited me."
"I see," Jair said, "That's good."
Josephine said, "Thank you, Mr. Cook. I'll be going now."
Before Jair could speak, Stuart slammed the table. "Stop right there!"
Josephine turned back. "Mr. Haustia, do you have any other orders?"
"You're lying," Stuart said, panicked, "You're not really leaving, right?"
Josephine smirked. "Yeah, I'm lying. I don't want a divorce either. This is my plan. Happy now, Mr. Haustia?"
She turned and left without a second thought.
Stuart tried to chase after her, but Jair grabbed his arm.
"Let go of me!" Stuart yelled.
"Calm down!" Jair insisted.
"I am calm!" Stuart snapped.
"No, you're not!" Jair pushed him back inside and shut the door. "You're divorced! Whatever she does or wherever she goes is none of your business!"
Stuart loosened his shirt collar in frustration. "She's doing this on purpose!"
Jair said, "Stuart, honestly, I don't see any sign that she likes you."
"That's because she's good at pretending!" Stuart shouted, "She's so good at it that I didn't realize it for over three years. If I had known earlier..."
"Known what?" Jair asked.
"Nothing! Anyway, she definitely doesn't want a divorce!" Stuart gritted his teeth.
Jair said, "I don't see that she likes you or that she doesn't want a divorce. But you, you're so agitated; it seems like you're the one who doesn't want the divorce."
"Impossible!" Stuart shouted, "She better not regret it!"
"I think you're the one regretting it now," Jair sighed. "If you really want her back, you should talk to her properly and curb your bad temper."
"I don't want to win her back!" Stuart shouted, "If anyone's going to make the first move, it should be her, showing some humility, and then I'll consider it!"
"Stuart, you're calm and steady in other matters, but when it comes to Josephine, you can't see right from wrong," Jair said.
"I'm telling you the truth, she has liked me for a long time, so she won't divorce me. Just wait, she'll definitely make another move," Stuart insisted.
"How do you know she likes you?" Jair asked.
"I just know," Stuart said, "She admitted it herself."
"But didn't she say she's leaving the country in a few days?" Jair asked.
"She must be lying!" Stuart said, "Maybe she's just trying to scare me."
"This isn't something she can just say. If you don't believe it, you can check, or I can ask for you," Jair suggested.
"Ask now," Stuart demanded.
Jair contacted a couple of friends and found someone at Clement Hospital.
Because of their bad relationship with Liam, they couldn't directly use their own identities to check.
After asking, Jair hung up and said, "It's true. The research project is confidential, and they wanted Josephine to join from the start, but she didn't agree. Now the project is progressing abroad, and she has to go. She won't be back for years."
Stuart said nothing.
"She didn't lie to you. She really wants to leave. Do you still think she has a hidden agenda? If she really liked you, she'd be afraid that you'd forget about her," Jair continued.
"I don't believe it," Stuart shook his head.
"You really are something," Jair shook his head. "If you really want to win her back, adjust your attitude. Stuart, you know how outstanding Josephine is. Once she's abroad, with such a distance between you, you won't know how many people will like her and pursue her. You won't know anything. She might even marry a foreigner."
"Shut up!" Stuart shouted.
"Alright, I've said all I can. Take care of yourself," Jair sighed.
The next day, Josephine was called to the office by Liam.
