Chapter 239 We Are Perfect for Each Other

Esther said, "I don't see any issue here. Emily's got a knack for painting, and Mr. Campbell's really impressed with her."

Todd replied, "We can't rely on Josephine anymore. It's like a blessing that Emily came to us. If we can lock down an engagement with Mr. Campbell, even without Stuart's backing, no one will dare to look down on the Kalmien Family."

Esther started, "But she's not really..."

Todd shot her a look and frowned. "What are you even talking about?"

"Alright, alright," Esther said, "I'll drop it, okay?"

Todd continued, "Those shareholders have always been tight with Josephine, which is why they're so against Emily. But if Emily gets engaged to the Campbell Family, they'll have nothing to say."

Esther asked, "But won't those two shareholders spill the beans to Josephine?"

"Nope," Todd said, "They signed a confidentiality agreement. As long as we don't mess up, they won't get a chance to tell Josephine anything."

Esther grumbled, "Good. The company's grown because of your hard work, but Josephine keeps talking about donating it. It's ridiculous!"

Todd said, "Enough about her. She's divorced from Stuart, so she's not much use anymore."

Josephine, who was now considered useless, had no idea how Todd and Esther were talking about her at that moment.

After hanging up, Josephine went online to look up some info and got an idea for a research project.

She had a new idea, but to see if it would work, she needed to test it repeatedly in the lab.

Looked like she'd have to head back to Celestia Springs.

The next day, Otis drove her to Celestia Springs and asked on the way, "With this delay, will Jeffery be coming back a few days later?"

"Yeah," Josephine said, feeling a bit guilty, "I hope once he gets here, I won't be so swamped."

"Jeffery's pretty understanding," Otis said, "If needed, I can help take care of him."

Josephine laughed. "You've already been a bodyguard and a driver, isn't it too much to ask you to be a nanny too?"

"It's no big deal," Otis said, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even be alive. What's wrong with being a nanny?"

Josephine replied, "No need. If I really get busy, Laura will help me. Besides, I've already planned to have much less work by then."

Otis added, "Just remember, no matter what happens, I'm here for you."

Josephine said seriously, "Otis, thank you."

When she got to the research institute and finished her work, she found an unexpected visitor in her office.

It was Rex.

"Mr. Armstrong," Josephine greeted him with a smile, "Back from Hustalia?"

These days, wherever Josephine went, Rex followed.

She came to Celestia Springs, which was Rex's territory, so he naturally had to come back, too.

"Yeah." Rex also smiled. "Are you tired? What do you want for lunch? How about we eat together?"

Josephine looked at him curiously. "Mr. Armstrong, have you forgotten that I have a boyfriend and a child?"

"No," Rex said, "We agreed we're friends now. What's wrong with friends having a meal together?"

Hearing him use this as an excuse, Josephine smiled. "Why not. Today, Kenneth and Ronald are also in the lab. They've been working hard, too. Since Mr. Armstrong, you're so concerned about the staff, let's invite them to join us."

Rex was almost amused with anger.

But as a guy, could he really argue with Josephine?

What was supposed to be a date for two turned into a work lunch.

Still, Rex found a chance to talk to Josephine alone. He cornered her outside the restroom.

"I've been thinking, and I believe we're quite compatible," he said to Josephine. "I heard your boyfriend is a foreigner. Foreigners have language differences and different living habits. It will be troublesome for you two to be together."

Josephine replied, "Thanks for your concern, Mr. Armstrong. My boyfriend and I have already adjusted to each other, and we respect each other."

"Will he stay here with you, or will you go abroad?" Rex asked.

"I plan to stay here, and of course, he will be with me," Josephine said.

Rex gritted his teeth. "I heard he's quite young. Not to be harsh, but young people often lack loyalty in relationships. Unlike me, I think things through carefully."

"That's right, Mr. Armstrong, you are indeed mature and steady," Josephine said. "But my boyfriend is not immature either. I trust my own judgment."

Rex continued, "You have a son, and I have a daughter. We would be a perfect match."

"Mr. Armstrong," Josephine interrupted him, "What you're saying is a bit far-fetched."

"Is your son really your boyfriend's biological child? I heard you had just divorced Stuart at that time," Rex said.

"Whether he's my boyfriend's biological child or not, you'll know when you see him," Josephine retorted.

Rex said, "How long had you known each other by then? And you were willing to have his child?"

"These things are hard to explain," Josephine said. "Maybe it was fate."

"Fine." Rex gritted his teeth. "When are they coming? I want to see how good your relationship really is!"

"After I finish my work in a few days," Josephine said. "I'm also looking forward to them coming soon. I haven't seen them since I returned to the country, and I miss them."

Rex didn't gain any advantage from the conversation.

And seeing how confident Josephine was, it seemed the child had nothing to do with Stuart.

Although his chances were slim, it also meant Stuart had no chance either.

For now, they were on the same starting line.

After all, Stuart and Josephine had a history, while Rex had no emotional foundation with her.

Although the current situation wasn't promising, Rex hadn't given up.

Firstly, he genuinely believed foreigners had language differences.

Secondly, when that foreigner arrived, he would naturally find a way to make him back off.

Josephine didn't know that Roy was already on Rex's mind before he even arrived.

After lunch, Josephine threw herself back into her busy work.

It wasn't until after 10 PM that she returned to the accommodation arranged for her at the research institute.

Laura called her and said, "I heard that Emily is going to get engaged to the Campbell Family."

"The Campbell Family?" Josephine was stunned.

Laura explained, "The Campbell Family is a prestigious family. The current head, George Campbell, is quite famous for his calligraphy and painting. It seems Emily is also studying painting and is said to be quite talented."

Josephine wasn't very interested. "That's good."

"Good?" Laura said, "Do you know who supports the Campbell Family? If Emily really gets engaged to them, you will have even less standing in the Kalmien Family."
