Chapter 263 Repeat Offender
At first, Stuart wasn't even thinking along those lines.
His mind was all about Josephine.
Back in the day, Stuart might've thought Josephine was tailing him.
But now, he felt like it was destiny, maybe even God, bringing them together.
Plus, Josephine wasn't hanging around with that annoying Roy.
Stuart spotted them first and ditched Jair, striding over.
Jair was glued to his phone, and by the time he looked up, Stuart was already gone.
Then he noticed Claudia.
Out of the three girls, Claudia wasn't as striking as Josephine and Laura.
Josephine had delicate features, Laura had a seductive vibe, while Claudia was petite.
Her features weren't as attention-grabbing, but she exuded a comforting aura, reminiscent of the girl-next-door that everyone had a crush on back in middle school.
But Jair's eyes went straight to Claudia.
She was always so quiet, with a gentle smile, her hair smooth and straight, looking all gentle as she chatted with Jeffery.
Seeing Stuart head over, Jair quickly followed.
"Josephine," Stuart grinned. "You guys here for dinner too?"
Laura snapped, "Why else would we be at a restaurant? For a haircut?"
Josephine tugged at her, nodded at Stuart, and greeted Jair, who was catching up, "Hey, Jair."
"Josephine," Jair nodded back. "Since we bumped into each other, how about we eat together?"
Josephine replied, "We don't want to intrude. My friends and I have some things to discuss."
Jair sighed, "Alright then. Claudia..."
He was about to say something to Claudia when she turned to Josephine, "Josephine, Jeffery wants some water. I'll take him to the private room first."
Josephine put her arm around her, "Let's all go together. Jair, see you next time."
And with that, the four of them left.
Stuart reluctantly tore his gaze from Josephine and noticed Jair still staring after them.
"What are you looking at?" Stuart finally sensed something was up. "Claudia?"
Jair never had a habit of staring at girls before.
Jair just hummed in response.
"Something's off," Stuart realized. "Do you really just want to apologize to her?"
"What else?" Jair shot back. "Isn't this all because of you?"
Stuart shook his head. "No, you're acting weird. You wanted to drink over this? When I got divorced, you didn't even drink with me."
Jair said, "That's because I never owed anyone, so I feel uncomfortable."
"No," Stuart's expression turned serious. "Something's definitely off."
Jair nudged him. "Stop overthinking."
Both of them were a bit distracted during dinner.
Jair kept thinking about Claudia looking all sad when she was being bullied.
Stuart was busy texting Josephine.
Stuart: [I think Jair is acting weird, he might like Claudia.]
Stuart was tattling on Jair behind his back but didn't show it, and even asked Jair, "Still want to drink?"
Jair shook his head. "Can't drink now. When I'm on vacation, I'll drink with you as much as you want."
Stuart's phone buzzed, and he quickly grabbed it.
Jair had never seen him like this and couldn't help but ask, "Who's texting you?"
Stuart replied, "It's Josephine."
Jair raised an eyebrow. "You two are getting along well now, huh?"
"Of course," Stuart said, glancing at Josephine's reply and quickly typing back.
Seeing Stuart was engrossed in his phone, Jair pulled out his own.
He scrolled to his chat with Claudia.
Not much there, just Claudia thanking him for the clothes.
'Oh right, the clothes!' he thought.
Jair's eyes lit up. Claudia hadn't returned his clothes yet!
'So, I have a reason to talk to her,' he thought, feeling a bit happier.
He turned to Stuart, "Hey, Stuart, can you tell Josephine—"
But Stuart cut him off, "Oh, by the way, Josephine said Claudia returned your clothes to my office. I'll bring them to you."
Jair went silent, not in the mood for further conversation.
Stuart still asked, "What did you want me to tell Josephine?"
Jair mumbled, "Nothing."
Stuart just shrugged and went back to his chat with Josephine, grinning.
Jair couldn't help but ask, "Are you still eating?"
Stuart didn't even look up. "You eat, don't mind me."
In another room, Laura knocked on the table, "Are you eating or not? Come on, set a good example for Jeffery, will ya? What's so important on your phone that you can't even look up while eating?"
Josephine put down her phone. "I was just telling Stuart that Claudia returned Jair's clothes to his office."
Laura sighed, "Alright, hurry up and eat!"
Josephine asked, "What about you? Have you talked to Steven?"
Laura gave Jeffery a piece of fish. "Talk about what? We didn't talk."
Claudia asked, "What's wrong? Did you argue with him again?"
"See, even Claudia said 'again'," Josephine laughed. "Shows you're a repeat offender."
Jeffery looked up at Laura.
Laura quickly said, "Can you give me some face in front of Jeffery? I don't argue, I'm a good person."
They all laughed together.
After a while, Josephine turned to Claudia, "Claudia, don't be mad at Jair. He's a good guy. Stuart probably asked him, and he couldn't say no."
Claudia shook her head. "I'm not mad anymore."
"Then about Jair making clothes?"
"Forget it," Claudia said, "He didn't really want me to make clothes."
"Alright, then we won't make them for him," Josephine said, "When Claudia becomes a world-famous designer, let him regret it!"
Laura chimed in, "That's right! Today he ignores you, tomorrow you make him regret it!"
Claudia laughed. "I'm not that great."
"Claudia is amazing!" Jeffery said, "The clothes you design are all beautiful!"
"Thank you, Jeffery," Claudia beamed, "The clothes I'm designing for you are almost done. Will you wear them to kindergarten?"
Jeffery nodded enthusiastically, "Yes!"
They were having a great time, and Josephine didn't check her phone again.
Stuart, not getting a reply, was a bit distracted while eating.
Jair nudged him, "Aren't you gonna hurry up and eat? Once we're done, we can wait outside and maybe talk to them."
"Right!" Stuart immediately sped up.
After they finished eating and paid the bill, they didn't leave but found a spot to sit in the lobby.
Jair and Stuart didn't drink, and they knew the three girls, with Jeffery, would definitely eat slower than them.
Sure enough, after waiting for almost half an hour, Josephine and the others finally came out.
