Chapter 439 Got a Lesson
Josephine looked at him and asked, "You're going too?"
"It's just a few months, I can handle it," Stuart said. "If there's anything at the company, I can always fly back a few times."
"Better not," Josephine said. "If it's just about the company, I think it's fine, you can go. But now, Grandpa's health isn't good, and there's also Jeffery. I hope you can stay in Celestia Springs and take care of them for me."
Hearing this, Stuart's face immediately wrinkled.
Josephine continued, "Grandpa is getting old, and your parents are busy, they can't always be by his side. If you stay in Celestia Springs, at least you'll be there if anything happens. And Jeffery, I always feel like I owe him. Since I'm leaving, I hope you can spend more time with him."
"Okay." Before she could finish, Stuart agreed. "You go ahead, I'll stay and take good care of them."
"Thank you."
"Do you need to thank me?" Stuart kissed her. "If anyone should be thanking, it should be me thanking you. Josephine, thank you for giving me a home again."
Thanks to her, the house felt like a home and he rediscovered his ability to love.
"Just like Steven and Laura," Josephine said softly. "Strictly speaking, Steven wasn't wrong either, it was just fate playing tricks on them. So, the past is the past, let's not bring it up again."
"Okay."
For a while, Josephine had been on vacation, handling some matters through the computer.
Now, a colleague called her, and after some discussion, she was going back to work at the research institute.
Stuart had put the proposal on the agenda, but it was no use; Josephine was so busy she sometimes didn't even have time to eat. Moreover, she was going abroad soon.
Jair and Steven took over the planning and occasionally reported the progress in the group chat.
Stuart held back for a few days but couldn't anymore and replied: [You guys handle it, no need to report in the group.]
Jair had already returned to the military base, and Claudia had gone back too.
Jair thought about it and decided he should meet Claudia's parents first before planning the proposal.
Claudia had been busy with her own things these past few days and had no idea Jair was planning to propose.
That day, a client came to Claudia's studio. The client was also her friend and even knew David.
After chatting with Claudia, she said, "By the way, do you know how David is doing lately?"
"Huh?" Claudia was taken aback and shook her head. "We haven't been in touch."
"I heard he's having a tough time lately," the friend said. "After you broke up, he seemed to be doing well, which made me quite angry. But now, he seems to have lost his job and got beaten up badly."
Claudia was puzzled, "Did he mess with someone?"
"Not sure, some say he got involved with a married woman and was taught a lesson by her husband."
Claudia remembered seeing David with Lyanna that day. When she was dating David, she didn't see him as that kind of person. He was really good at pretending.
Claudia was just glad she saw David's true colors in time and broke up with him. Otherwise, if she had married a bad man like David, who knew what would have happened.
That night, Jair and Claudia had a video call. Although he couldn't come back every day, they could still video chat.
As they were talking, Claudia received a message. She checked it and was stunned.
Jair asked, "What's wrong?"
Claudia switched back to the call and thought for a moment before saying, "Do you remember David?"
Jair's eyes turned cold, "What about him? Did he contact you?"
"No!" Claudia quickly said. "My friend told me he got beaten up and is in the hospital now."
The friend had just sent a message saying she found out David was beaten up by Lyanna's husband, and it was so bad that he might not have any physiological capability in the future.
Jair chuckled, "That's the punishment he deserves."
"I mean, if we ever encounter someone like David again, let's stay away from him. Don't get into a fight with him. If he causes trouble at the military base..."
"Am I afraid of him?" Jair said. "People like David deserve to be dealt with!"
Jair didn't mention that he was the one who tipped off about David. Since David dared to do such things, he had to face the consequences.
Getting involved with a married woman, it was no surprise her husband beat him up.
Of course, Jair admitted his methods weren't the best. He actually wanted to beat David up himself to vent Claudia's anger.
Thinking about David's previous words still made him angry. But then he thought, for someone like David, it wasn't worth it. Now, David had received his punishment.
Claudia responded with an "Oh."
Jair asked, "What, do you feel sorry for him?"
Claudia widened her eyes at him, "Why would I feel sorry for him?"
Jair laughed, "That's more like it. If you feel sorry for anyone, it should be for your husband."
Claudia blushed.
Jair calling her "wife" in bed was one thing, but saying it during a video call was another.
Jair rubbed his shoulder, "I think I hurt my arm during training today."
"Huh?" Claudia was worried. "Where did you get hurt? Did you get it checked?"
"It's fine, not serious," Jair looked at her. "But I need my wife to comfort me. Come on, call me 'husband'."
Claudia blushed and turned her face away, "Stop it."
Jair stared at her. "You won't call me? Then I'll be sad."
Claudia glanced at him, "You should rest early."
Jair said, "I'll be back tomorrow night."
"Huh?" Claudia was surprised. "Didn't you just return to the military base?"
"I miss you," Jair's eyes were intense. "I can't help it. Since you won't call me 'husband', I have to come back to hear it."
Claudia asked, "Is your arm really okay?"
"It's fine," Jair said. "When I come back and hug you, you'll know."
Claudia felt that Jair had changed a lot. He used to be low-key, steady, and reliable, but now he was so flirty.
But despite that, Claudia still found him very charming.
The next night, she secretly went to the military base gate, standing far away, looking in that direction.
She was worried about Jair's arm and wanted to surprise him, so she came to pick him up.
She saw Jair's car and was about to call him when she saw his car stop.
He got out of the car, and at the same time, a woman in a military uniform came out of the guardhouse.
Claudia stared at them without blinking.
