Chapter 228 I Heard You Have a Boyfriend
Rex wasn't someone to be trifled with, and he often played by his own rules. However, he still had his limits.
Despite that, he couldn't stand to see others doing well if he wasn't.
With Steven's help, a few of them met up at a dinner.
Robin heard the news and came over too. When he saw Steven, he pulled him aside.
Steven didn't have a good relationship with his family, mostly due to past issues.
Thus, he couldn't take it anymore and left home to work on his own.
Over the years, he did better than the Bailey family.
Previously, no one in the Baileys thought much of him.
Now that he was successful, they were trying to get closer to him.
Robin hadn't been involved much and didn't meet Steven often, but when facing him, he couldn't match his aura.
So every time he faced Steven, Robin was respectful.
Robin called him politely, "Uncle Steven."
Steven held a cigarette in his hand but didn't light it.
Robin flicked his lighter and leaned in to light it for him.
However, Steven pushed it away. "Don't."
Robin asked, "What's wrong?"
Steven said, "I quit smoking."
Robin knew he had a big smoking habit and asked curiously, "Why?"
Steven didn't say much and retorted, "Do you have something to say?"
Robin replied, "Yes, I do."
Steven said, "Go ahead."
Robin said, "Grandpa and Grandma want to know if you can get married soon?"
"My business is none of their concern." Steven sniffed the cigarette.
Robin said, "They're getting old."
However, Steven didn't show any concern. "Then they should rest and worry less."
"Steven!" Robin steeled himself and said, "To be honest, Grandpa and Grandma don't approve of you being with Laura."
Steven sneered.
Robin got anxious. "Steven, Laura, she..."
"Shut up!" Steven's face turned colder. "Before you talk about her, weigh your importance to me. She'll be your elder, so think before you speak!"
Robin was furious. "Steven!"
"I don't need the family's approval to choose my partner. I've worked for so many years; I can decide my own matters." After saying that, he went inside.
Robin took a deep breath outside to suppress his anger.
He wondered, 'What's so good about Laura? Bad temper, sharp tongue, questionable character! A woman who even goes to clubs to find men; she's unpure! Besides, Josephine doesn't like me all because of her.'
In short, Robin couldn't stand Laura no matter how he looked at her.
He didn't know what she did to infatuate Steven..
However, a woman like Laura didn't need to be sabotaged; she had plenty of issues herself.
Robin couldn't wait any longer. First, his family didn't like Laura at all. Second, if she really got together with Steven, it would be even harder for him to pursue Josephine in the future.
He had already thought of how to deal with Laura.
He was feeling a bit better, but when he entered the room, he heard Rex say Josephine had a boyfriend.
Rex had planned to share the news and make Stuart upset too.
As a result, Robin came in just in time and reacted even more strongly than Stuart. "What did you say? Josephine has a boyfriend? Since when? How come I didn't know?"
Everyone looked at him, making Robin realize his reaction was overboard.
He quickly said, "I mean, she got a boyfriend so quickly? Wasn't she single before?"
Rex looked up at him. "What does it matter to you?"
"I'm just..." Robin glanced at Stuart. "Worried for Stuart."
"No need." Stuart got up to leave. "You guys eat, put the bill on my tab."
Seeing Rex was enough to fill Stuart up, let alone Rex bringing such news.
Rex was here to make him uncomfortable.
Seeing Stuart like that, Rex, who was initially uncomfortable, now felt better.
Steven glanced at him. "Satisfied?"
Rex raised an eyebrow. "This is just the beginning. It'd be best if he acted up with Josephine, making her completely fed up with him. See? Effortlessly, I'd have one less competitor."
Steven said, "Your real competitor should be Josephine's boyfriend. Why are you competing with Stuart?"
Rex replied, "He treated Josephine badly before. I just stand up for her."
Steven laughed. "You're always right. So what's your next step? You're not really going to interfere in her relationship, are you?"
Rex said, "I definitely won't do that, but what if they break up on their own?"
Robin asked from the side, "Mr. Armstrong, do you have any good ideas?"
Rex glanced at Steven before looking at Robin. "Why are you still here? I'm talking to Steven. Why are you butting in?"
There were quite a few people watching, and Robin had never been humiliated like this.
If it were someone else, he might've flipped out on the spot.
However, Rex was the young master of the Armstrong family in Celestia Springs. Not to mention that he couldn't mess with the Armstrongs, even Rex's own abilities commanded his respect.
Robin was still hoping Steven would say something to save his face, but Steven just looked down at his phone and ignored him.
After going back, Robin smashed things around the house again.
He did so much to make Josephine and Stuart divorce.
Now, after finally being on the same starting line, besides Stuart, there was Rex.
Moreover, she had a boyfriend abroad.
Robin wished he could kill all these people so that she'd only have eyes for him.
However, he also knew he couldn't rush things.
Despite Rex's impressive stance, Robin felt his chances weren't great.
After all, he had a daughter, Jessica, holding him back.
As for Josephine's boyfriend abroad, who knew what he was like.
As for Stuart, his past mistakes were enough to leave him with no chance.
Stuart knew that he had no chance. Hearing that Josephine had a boyfriend, he felt worse than anyone.
After leaving the restaurant, he went to Josephine's current residence.
Five years ago, Stuart would never have imagined that one day, he'd linger below her residence like a creep, looking at the lights in her home.
Now, it was so hard to even see her.
Josephine called out, "Stuart?"
His heart skipped a beat, and he turned around sharply.
She was wrapped up tightly, with only her eyes showing.
Her tone was icy. "What are you doing here?"
He didn't expect to be caught standing under her building.
He looked up at the sky, then at the ground, before awkwardly saying, "I just came to see."
She frowned. "See what?"
He replied, "I heard you have a boyfriend."
She was puzzled. "You came to see my boyfriend?"
