Chapter 133 Apologize to Me
"There's a bit of a problem," Liam said. "The government over there is in turmoil, so we can only get a regular visa for now."
Josephine asked, "A three-month one?"
Liam nodded. "Yeah, so you can either wait or go now. But if you can't get things done in three months, you'll have to come back."
Josephine didn't want to wait; she wanted to leave now.
Seeing her hesitation, Liam knew what she was worried about.
He said, "I suggest you wait. You've been busy with work for years and rarely take a break. Use this time to relax. If you don't want to stay in Hustalia, you can go out and have some fun."
Josephine nodded. "Okay."
Because of the Starlight Festival, there were fewer patients, and Josephine had already arranged for her previous patients. So, she had some free time.
In the evening, she had dinner with Claudia and Laura.
Claudia angrily recounted Stuart's misdeeds to Laura again.
Laura was so angry she slammed the table, wanting to confront Stuart.
Josephine held her back. "Stuart's not right in the head; you can't stoop to his level."
Laura said, "It's because you always let him off that he thinks he can bully you!"
Josephine smiled. "I don't care about that."
"Infuriating!" Laura huffed. "Do you think his erratic behavior means he regrets divorcing you?"
Josephine shook her head. "He just feels his pride was hurt. He told me more than once that the divorce had to be on his terms."
"He's so arrogant!" Claudia cursed. "So annoying!"
Laura said, "Is it possible that he actually likes you?"
"No way!" Claudia said. "I've never seen someone show affection like that! Even kindergarten kids know to give rings to their crushes!"
"That's true." Laura sighed and shook her head. "Stuart is just weird. A man being so petty even after a divorce is just lowering himself."
Josephine said, "Let's not talk about him. I can't go abroad for a while, so I plan to travel domestically. Do you want to join?"
Claudia said, "I'd love to, but I'm swamped with work right now."
During the Starlight Festival, her dress designs were highly praised, attracting many clients.
Laura was also regretful. "I just got back, and my family has lined up a lot of tasks for me. If I go on a trip now, my parents would be furious."
"Alright," Josephine said, "I'm fine going alone."
"Wait!" Laura suddenly said, "I'll find you a travel companion!"
Josephine asked, "Who?"
Laura said, "William!"
Josephine quickly shook her head. "Nope. It's inappropriate for me to travel with him."
Laura said, "What's wrong with that? It's normal for friends to travel together."
"We're not really friends," Josephine said, "Besides, knowing he's interested in me, inviting him to travel would just mislead him."
"You can let him misunderstand," Laura said, "Traveling is a great way to get to know someone. You can observe him and see if he's boyfriend material."
Josephine shook her head. "Forget it, I'm not in the mood for that right now."
Claudia suddenly spoke up, "Josephine, maybe you can't go abroad because Stuart is meddling."
Josephine was stunned.
Laura was also surprised. "Stuart? No way."
Josephine said, "No, he's too arrogant to do something like that."
"But he's so bad," Claudia said. "I noticed last night. If Jair hadn't arrived in time, he would have forced me to call you out."
"Next time something like that happens, don't handle it alone," Josephine said. "Call me, and I'll go. What can he do?"
Laura said, "He can do a lot. Men can be beasts; there's no limit to what he might do."
Josephine was shocked. "He can't; we're divorced."
"Divorce means nothing to him," Laura said. "Someone like him, used to being in power, isn't bound by such things."
"Then I'll ask around," Josephine said. "I need to leave the country as soon as possible."
Laura said, "I'll also ask around and see if we can expedite the visa."
Initially, Josephine didn't suspect Stuart would do such a thing. But after asking many friends, they all said they couldn't help.
Laura also got some news. Although the contacts didn't give a definite answer, it was clear that Josephine's visa issue was due to human interference.
No one but Stuart would block her from going abroad.
Apparently, Liam hadn't expected Stuart to interfere either.
Josephine didn't plan to tell him. She feared that if something really happened, Stuart would target the Clement family.
Stuart was unpredictable; no one knew what he might do.
Josephine called Stuart directly.
Stuart answered the phone, "You know you were wrong."
Josephine suppressed her anger, forcing herself to stay calm. "Stuart, we're divorced."
"Regretting it?" Stuart's voice was filled with pleasure. "Josephine, I'm at the office. Come over."
Josephine wanted to hit him.
She took several deep breaths before speaking. "We're divorced, so we shouldn't interfere in each other's lives. Stuart, you're still meddling with my visa."
Stuart's tone changed. "You called just for this?"
Josephine said, "I just want to know if you had a hand in this."
Stuart uttered, "Even if I did, what can you do? Our divorce isn't finalized; you can't leave."
Josephine was stunned. "We have the divorce certificate; it's finalized."
"So what," Stuart said. "I say it's not finalized, so it's not."
"You're being unreasonable!" Josephine was furious. "Stuart, what do you want?"
Stuart said, "You still don't think you were wrong."
Josephine asked, "What did I do wrong?"
Stuart said, "You were wrong because I said the divorce had to be on my terms. But you made me lose face in public."
Josephine really wanted to hang up. She didn't want any more entanglements with Stuart.
Seeing she wasn't speaking, Stuart said, "I'll give you one more chance."
Josephine said directly, "I don't want such a chance."
"You don't have the right to refuse," Stuart said. "Come to the club tonight and apologize to me in front of everyone. Then, I'll reconcile with you."
Josephine found it laughable. "And after we reconcile? So we can divorce again and let everyone laugh at me?"
Stuart said, "You're deliberately provoking me. We haven't even reconciled, and you're talking about divorce again."
"Stuart, stop it," Josephine said tiredly. "I divorced you not because of any scheme or whim. It's just what I want."
