Chapter 317 If It Makes Stuart Unhappy

"Josephine," Stuart's voice was low and a bit sad, "I've told you before, I don't have those kinds of feelings for her."

Josephine felt a mix of softness and some kind of bitter feeling in her heart.

"What kind of feelings?" she asked.

"First love," Stuart said, "It's supposed to be this deep, deep affection. Something you hold in your heart, worship, love, and can't attain. So, if that's the case, my first love should be you."

Josephine's lips curled up, "I don't believe you."

"Then what will make you believe?" Stuart's voice got even lower, "Since my teenage years, my dreams have always been about you. I've never liked any other girl, never dreamed of any other girl, never wanted to do those things with any other girl."

Josephine felt her face heat up, "Stop talking."

"I'm telling the truth," Stuart continued, "Back then, I didn't dare tell anyone, especially not you, for fear you'd laugh at me and look down on me. You already disliked me."

"No," Josephine said softly, "I didn't dislike you."

Stuart fell silent. His Adam's apple bobbed, and after several seconds of silence, he spoke with difficulty, "What should I do, Josephine? I want to see you right now."

Josephine stood facing the wall, tapping it lightly with her hand, feeling very uneasy. "It's too late, let's talk tomorrow."

Stuart could no longer suppress the turmoil of his emotions. He wanted to see Josephine right now, to hold her, kiss her, and tell her how much he missed her.

Josephine added, "I need to go back and take care of Jeffery."

Stuart calmed down a bit, his voice hoarse. "Alright, but you need to get some sleep too, don't overwork yourself."

Josephine responded with a hum.

Stuart added, "Anyway, you should know, Angela is not my first love. Her coming back has nothing to do with me."

Josephine said, "I know."

Stuart didn't want to hang up, but he had no choice. Jeffery was still sick, and now was really not the time to discuss feelings.

Reluctantly, he hung up the phone and ignored several new messages from Angela on his phone.

Unexpectedly, Vincent called him.

The night before the Starlight Festival, many people were staying up late, and Vincent was one of them.

"What's up?" Stuart asked, tugging at his collar with one hand and opening his wardrobe.

Vincent said, "Got time tomorrow? Have a meal with Angela?"

"No time," Stuart replied bluntly.

Vincent was like, "That's not cool, right? Angela saved our butts. She's our savior. What's the harm in grabbing a bite?"

Stuart eased up a bit, "You guys go ahead, I'll foot the bill. I'm swamped, got stuff to handle."

"What could be so important? Besides, no matter what you're doing, you still have to eat, right? You don't have to come early, just show up for half an hour."

"Really can't. Not even ten minutes."

"What's so important? What's wrong with you now?"

"My son is in the hospital, isn't that important?"

Vincent was shocked. "Your son? Since when do you have a son?"

"None of your business," Stuart said with a hint of joy in his voice, "It's my business."

Vincent thought for a moment, then said in shock, "You don't mean you're taking Josephine's purple-eyed son as your own, do you? I'm telling you, don't be foolish! If you want kids, you two can have your own in the future, but don't take someone else's kid..."

"He's not someone else's kid, he's mine," Stuart said, "Alright, if you don't have anything else to say..."

Vincent said, "Are you high? How is he yours? Jeffery has purple eyes!"

Stuart couldn't go into details, so he just said, "What's wrong with purple eyes? You got a problem with purple eyes?"

Vincent thought Stuart was beyond help. After hanging up, he called Angela, "Stuart's gone off the deep end. If he flakes, we'll still grab dinner. But he mentioned he'd cover the tab."

Angela gritted her teeth, forcing a smile. "It's more important for him to be there. I'm planning to stay in the country from now on. If he doesn't show up when I return, who knows what people will say."

"Our relationship is our business, don't worry about what others say. I'm telling you, Stuart really has something going on tomorrow and can't make it. How about we reschedule?"

Angela asked, "Do you know what he's up to?"

"I guess it has something to do with Josephine, but I don't know the details. Anyway, Stuart is chasing her pretty hard right now."

Angela didn't say anything.

Vincent added, "Angela, it's your fault for not coming back all these years. If you had come back earlier, Josephine wouldn't even be in the picture."

Angela forced a smile, "Alright, I get it. If dinner doesn't work out, we'll reschedule."

After hanging up, Angela threw her phone.

Was it her choice not to come back? She didn't even want to leave in the first place!

Thinking of this, she started cursing Robin through gritted teeth. It was all Robin's fault! If she hadn't gone abroad back then, she might have developed a steady relationship with Stuart.

Stuart's attitude towards her was clearly softening at that time. If it weren't for what happened later...

Anyway, Angela regretted it now. She had heard about Robin's kidnapping incident.

Originally, Robin would definitely be sentenced for what he did. With Stuart's intervention, Robin would never get out of prison in this lifetime.

It was obvious that his days inside wouldn't be good. But Angela didn't expect Robin to be doing so poorly.

Robin looked at her with a smile, the handsome features of the once-dashing young man long gone. "Visiting me first thing on the morning of the Starlight Festival, how thoughtful of you."

Hearing him speak, Angela got angry. "How did you end up like this? Robin, weren't you supposed to be so capable?"

Robin said, "Are you here to gloat? Just say what you want."

Angela sneered, "I'm here out of pity, bringing you some things. Look at yourself, do you think I'd need anything from you?"

"You know what you want. Now that Stuart is like this, I don't believe you don't feel any resentment."

"So what?" Angela gritted her teeth, "Can I force him?"

"That's why you came to me," Robin said, "Don't deny it. We're in this together, so stop pretending to be high and mighty."

Angela felt humiliated and didn't want to talk to the current Robin. But the situation was against her, and she really had no one else to turn to. After all, everything that happened between her and Stuart back then was orchestrated by Robin.

"Alright, name your terms," Angela said, "I need your help, and I'll give you a corresponding reward."

Robin flashed his cuffed wrists at her and quipped, "What kind of reward do you think would be attractive to me right now?"

Angela said, "There's just no way you're getting out, and I ain't got that skill."

Robin laughed, "I don't expect you to get me out. But..."

Angela felt nervous, "What are you laughing at? Speak properly, don't look at me like that!"

It was especially frightening. She wondered if Robin had gone insane in prison. Anyway, she thought he seemed a bit off.

Robin said, "If I can make Stuart unhappy, I'll be happy."

"Hurry up and tell me if you have a plan!"

Robin said, "Alright, listen carefully, I'll explain it to you slowly."
