Chapter 319 Deal with It Yourself

Stuart actually went for that purple-eyed Jeffery over Josephine! Angela was fuming!

She knew she was the perfect one for Stuart, always had been. But Josephine, who had a kid with Roy, wasn't even looked down on by Stuart! How could someone like Josephine even exist?

After Angela stormed off, Josephine was left in a bit of a daze.

Jeffery looked up at her, worried. "Mommy? You okay?"

Josephine snapped back to reality. "I'm fine, sweetie. It's just been a long day. Are you tired?"

"Not really," Jeffery replied. "Mommy..."

Seeing he had something on his mind, Josephine ruffled his hair. "What's up?"

"That lady from earlier, she was acting kinda weird."

Kids always picked up on things. He could sense Angela's bad vibes even though she was smiling.

Josephine kissed his forehead. "Don't worry about her. We don't need to pay her any mind. I don't really know her."

"Oh," Jeffery said, still a bit puzzled.

Stuart showed up with dinner while Josephine was out.

"Stuart!" Jeffery called out.

Stuart set the food down and adjusted the table on the bed. "Hey Jeffery, let's eat first, okay?"

"Thanks, Stuart."

Stuart set out the food, reserving some for Josephine, hoping to share the meal with her upon her return, but Jeffrey declined to eat.

"What's up?" Stuart asked, curious. "Don't you like it?"

"No, it's just... a lady came by this afternoon, and Mommy seemed upset."

Stuart's interest piqued. "Which lady? Why was Mommy upset?"

Jeffery shook his head. "I don't know who she was, but I remember everything she said."

Then, he repeated Angela's words, mimicking her tone perfectly.

As soon as Stuart heard about returning to the country, he knew it was Angela. And hearing what she said made him furious!

What was Angela trying to pull? He never said any of that! She was just trying to stir up trouble!

He didn't care what Angela was up to. Even if she was causing a scene, it had nothing to do with him.

Stuart took a deep breath and told Jeffery, "I'll handle it. Don't worry, Jeffery. I won't let Josephine be hurt."

"Just don't tell Mommy I told you."

Stuart smiled. "Got it, it's our secret."

Josephine had gone to sign some papers and ran into an old colleague, so they chatted for a bit. When she came back and saw Stuart, she was a bit surprised.

Stuart was all casual. "I brought dinner. Can't have you and Jeffery eating cafeteria food."

Josephine smiled. "I haven't had it in a while, kinda miss it."

"I think my cooking's better."

"Thanks." Josephine lowered her head to eat, not saying much more.

Stuart tried to make small talk, but Josephine only gave polite responses. Clearly, her attitude had changed.

All because of Angela! Stuart wished he could strangle her!

After eating, before Josephine could say anything, Stuart offered to leave.

Josephine lowered her eyes, hiding a bit of sadness. "Okay, goodbye."

Stuart wanted to hold her hand but didn't dare. "I'll contact you later," he said, then hurried out.

Thinking about Angela mentioning dinner, Josephine figured maybe Stuart was rushing to have dinner with her.

The welcome dinner for Angela was indeed rescheduled for tonight, but Stuart had no intention of attending.

After hearing what Jeffery said, he was even more determined not to go. Nevertheless, he had to meet Angela tonight. There were certain matters that needed to be addressed in person.

Even though Stuart didn't attend, a lot of people still showed up. Especially with Vincent explaining that Stuart had sent a gift even though he couldn't make it, it made everyone think Angela was important to Stuart. So, everyone at the dinner treated Angela with extra care.

But honestly, in the U.S., the Lopez Family was relatively well-off compared to Stuart, who was at the top of the wealth hierarchy.

But because of Stuart, all those young guys and gals were super nice to Angela.

While they were chatting, Angela's phone rang. She glanced at it and smiled, "It's Stuart. I'll take this outside."

"Oh, you gotta go outside for that?"

"Yeah, something we can't hear?"

"Exactly."

Angela chuckled, "You guys are just teasing me, but don't say anything weird in front of Stuart."

She stepped out of the room and answered the call, "Stuart?"

Stuart got straight to the point, "Are you at the hotel? Come down."

"You came?" Angela said, excited. "Then come up, everyone's here, and you're the only one missing."

"I'll say a few words and leave," Stuart said, trying to keep his cool. "Come down."

Angela returned to the room, leading everyone to believe that Stuart wanted to speak with her privately.

She went downstairs, stepped out of the elevator, and spotted Stuart.

He was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window on the first floor, back to her. Just his silhouette was enough to make women swoon. His lean waist looked strong and fit.

Angela watched for a moment, snapped a photo with her phone, and then walked over.

She was quite the looker and had studied art, so she had this natural elegance. Her demeanor could make many men fall for her.

"Stuart," she said softly, reaching out her hand, "Long time no see."

Stuart turned around and looked at her, feeling nothing. He didn't shake her hand, just asked, "Did you go to the hospital?"

Angela smiled and pulled her hand back, "Did she tell you? What did she say? That I bullied her? I went with good intentions, but she complained. If I had known, I wouldn't have gone."

"Complained?" Stuart said, "I wish she would complain to me."

"What do you mean?"

"It means, you're disappointed."

"Stuart, we haven't seen each other in years. If you've got something on your mind, spill it. I'm all about straight talk."

"Okay, then here's my question: What was that about at the hospital this afternoon?"

"What did I say?" Angela looked hurt, "You said she didn't complain. I went to visit her, is that wrong? If she can't tolerate your friends, should I cut ties with you in the future?"

"Let me make two things clear," Stuart said coldly, "First, I'd appreciate it if you kept your distance from me and Josephine moving forward. Second, there was nothing between us before, there is nothing now, and there will be nothing in the future."

"Stuart, did you misunderstand something?" Angela looked at him, "I thought we were at least friends. If you and Josephine are together, is it wrong for me to visit her?"

"Say what you want. In the future, don't see her alone, and don't say strange things to her. Otherwise, don't blame me for being unkind."

Stuart came just to say these few words to her face. After saying that, he turned to leave.

Angela called out, "How will you be unkind? I don't want to take credit for the past, but we had some feelings, right?"

"Yes," Stuart said, "As long as you don't harass Josephine."

"Harass?" Angela laughed angrily, "Are you saying that you don't even care about your friends because of her?"

"Strictly speaking, we're not friends," Stuart said. "I'm grateful to you. You can ask for anything, as long as it's within my power, it's no problem."

Angela wanted to say something, but Stuart raised his wrist to check his watch. "Deal with it yourself."
