Chapter 476 You're Alone, But I'm Not

Steven said, "Are you just going to watch us separate?"

Laura said, "Separate? You want a divorce? Fine, go ahead and get a divorce."

"What nonsense," Steven said. "I never said that. Anyway, wherever you stay, I'll stay. I'm shameless, I don't care."

"A short separation will make our relationship stronger," Laura said. "You go home and wait, I'll be back in a few days. You can't stop me from visiting my family, can you?"

"Is this your family?"

Laura said, "Claudia is like my sister. Coming to her house is like visiting my family."

Claudia also said, "Yeah, exactly."

Jair glanced at her, his eyes saying, "We shouldn't get involved in their marital issues."

Claudia pretended not to see.

Jair had no choice but to look at Steven and shrug, indicating he couldn't help either.

In the end, Steven left.

But to be honest, he and Laura had been together for so long, they had hardly ever been apart. Being alone at night, he really wasn't used to it.

When Stuart received Steven's call, he had just come out of Jeffery's room. He answered the phone and walked towards his and Josephine's bedroom.

"What's up?"

Steven said directly, "Want to grab a drink?"

Stuart was puzzled, "Drinking? What's wrong? Where's Laura?"

His first thought was that they might have had a fight. Otherwise, why would Steven call him for a drink in the middle of the night?

As he spoke, he entered the bedroom.

Stuart put the call on speaker and sat next to Josephine.

"Don't mention it," Steven said. "Laura doesn't want me anymore."

Josephine was curious, "What do you mean?"

"Josephine, you're there too," Steven quickly said. "Help me out here. Laura insists on staying at Jair's for a few days. Claudia is pregnant, why does she need to add to the chaos?"

Josephine asked directly, "Did you make her angry?"

No, he didn't. It was just that the night before, he had been a bit too rough with her.

How could he say that?

Steven quickly said, "Of course not!"

Josephine asked, "So what did Laura say?"

"She just said she wanted to keep Claudia company. Claudia has her husband, does she need her?"

Josephine said, "If she wants to keep Claudia company, let her. Claudia is probably bored at home."

"If she keeps her company, what about me? I'm all alone now, feeling so pitiful. So, Stuart, come out and drink with me."

Stuart leaned over and spoke into the phone, "You're alone, but I'm not."

"Aren't you my friend?"

"Friends are friends," Stuart said. "Call Jair. Your wife went to his wife, they might even sleep together tonight. Jair can drink with you."

Steven said, "Don't mention it. I called him. Jair is worried his wife might need something to eat at night, so he has to be on standby."

Stuart chuckled, "Sorry, but you'll have to drink alone. But if Laura isn't around and you drink alone, are you sure she won't get mad?"

"She's gone, why would she care?"

"She's gone, so find a way to bring her back," Stuart said. "What's the point of drinking?"

"You don't understand," Steven said. "If I get drunk, you call her, and she'll come back."

"So I have to be the doormat," Stuart said. "Then I'm definitely not going. Laura might think I got you drunk, and then I'll get scolded."

"Josephine, look at your Stuart, he has no sense of friendship!"

Josephine laughed, "Not only does he lack friendship, but I'm also going to tell Laura."

Steven was shocked, "What are you going to tell her?"

"You're going to drink," Josephine said. "I remember Laura doesn't let you drink, right?"

Steven said, "I have no choice. I don't really want to drink, I'm just trying to find a way to get her back. Alright, alright, just pretend I didn't make this call!"

With that, Steven hung up.

Stuart and Josephine exchanged a smile.

Stuart said, "Steven is really pitiful."

Josephine, lying on the bed with her phone, said, "I'll ask Laura what's going on."

She sent a message, and Laura quickly replied: [I can't stand him, avoiding him for a few days.]

Josephine: [You didn't have a fight, right?]

Laura: [No.]

Josephine typed: [That's good. Go back tomorrow, Steven is really pitiful alone.]

Laura: [What's pitiful about him? Men are all the same, no good.]

That insulted all men. Josephine looked at Stuart beside her, who was leaning against the headboard, reading a financial magazine.

His side profile was handsome, his jawline firm.

Noticing Josephine's gaze, Stuart looked over, didn't say anything, just bent down and kissed Josephine on the cheek.

Josephine smiled and replied: [Come on, couples fight, but they make up quickly. What's the point of avoiding him?]

Laura: [I told you, we didn't fight. I just want some peace and quiet.]

Josephine replied: [You need to give him enough security.]

Laura: [We're married, how much more security does he need?]

Josephine: [Avoiding him isn't the solution.]

Laura sent a voice message.

Josephine played it.

Laura said, "What am I avoiding? Am I afraid of him? I just want to keep Claudia company. By the way, you have nothing to do these days, why don't you come over too? The three of us haven't stayed together for a long time."

Stuart, hearing this, leaned over and took Josephine's phone to reply with a voice message. "Thanks, but my Josephine isn't going."

Laura, hearing this, couldn't stop laughing.

Laura: [Come find me, then you'll understand the joy of a short separation making the relationship stronger.]

Stuart asked, "What did she say?"

Josephine said, "Nothing, but I do like her suggestion."

Stuart quickly said, "No way! You're a married woman with a family and kids, how can you stay at someone else's house?"

Josephine still occasionally stayed at The Clarence Family's house. Though Stuart wanted to go with her, he knew he couldn't do whatever he wanted there. So he cherished the days Josephine was at home. If she really listened to Laura and stayed at Claudia's, he'd be alone like Steven.

Josephine laughed, "Even if I go, it would be just for a day, not long."

"Not even a day," Stuart said. "Forget it, you better persuade Laura to go back. I think she's the one who stirs things up the most."

Josephine smiled, "I think it's fine. The three of us always said we'd take a few days each year to travel together."

Stuart said, "What about me?"

"You stay home and take care of the house and kids."

Stuart said, "No way, I have to go too. You always need someone to carry the luggage, right?"

He couldn't let Josephine and Laura go alone. He remembered the club incident. If they went alone, who knew if Laura would lead Josephine into doing something outrageous.
