Chapter 452 It's All Tears When We Talk About It
It was a little past ten in the morning, and Josephine was still busy. Stuart had come by earlier and registered, but the staff could only tell him that Josephine was currently unreachable and he would have to wait for her to come out.
Stuart had mentally braced himself for the wait, and indeed, he waited until it was past eleven.
Gerald called and said that Nicole had woken up and asked why they hadn't returned yet.
Stuart said, "I ordered lunch for twelve o'clock. Someone will deliver it, and there's also a cake. Just wait a bit longer; Josephine isn't done yet."
Gerald chuckled, "Alright."
A man's love for a woman wasn't just about words; sometimes it showed in the details.
Gerald felt he couldn't do what Stuart was doing. He was increasingly satisfied with Stuart.
Of course, the prerequisite for satisfaction was that Josephine liked Stuart.
When Josephine came out of the lab, her assistant informed her that Stuart had arrived.
Josephine was surprised. Stuart hadn't come for her birthday before, so she thought he would obediently stay away afterward.
He would only come to pick her up when she was leaving.
Why had Stuart come again? Logically, if he were to come, shouldn't it have been on her birthday? Why come after her birthday had passed?
Josephine quickly changed her clothes and walked out briskly. Immediately, she spotted Stuart, who was sitting in the reception room with his legs crossed and a magazine resting on his knee.
Hearing the commotion, he looked up, and the next second, a doting smile appeared on his stern face. "Josephine!"
He stood up, put the magazine aside, and hugged Josephine.
The two quietly embraced for a while, their bodies pressed together, without any extra movements, and it was already very comfortable.
Stuart gently patted her back, then released her and said, "Happy birthday."
Josephine was stunned, "Birthday?"
Wasn't her birthday already over?
Stuart said, "Nicole said today is your real birthday."
"Today?"
"Yes."
Josephine said, "Why is Mom only telling me now? She never mentioned it before."
But she quickly understood. Nicole was always cautious about what she said to her, afraid of making her unhappy.
Even if she wanted Josephine to celebrate her actual birthday, she worried Josephine might find her too particular. It was similar to the previous concern about changing her surname.
Anyway, Nicole always prioritized Josephine's happiness. Her return was more important than anything else; everything else was secondary.
"Are you unhappy about it?"
"Of course not," Josephine said. "But it does feel a bit strange. After all, I've celebrated that birthday for over twenty years."
Stuart held her hand, "Alright, let's go back and celebrate your real birthday together."
"Together?"
Stuart smiled, "Yes, Nicole, Gerald, and Ulysses, Jeffery, they're all here."
Josephine looked incredulous.
"Surprised?"
Josephine quickly nodded, "Are they all here? Let's go!"
On the way back, Stuart sent a message to Gerald.
So when Josephine arrived, she saw several people standing at the door.
She ran over and hugged Nicole.
"Mom, thank you," Josephine felt warm inside. "Thank you for giving birth to me."
Nicole's eyes immediately reddened, "Josephine, happy birthday."
Josephine then hugged the others, and each of them wished her a happy birthday.
During the meal, Josephine first raised her glass to Nicole, "A child's birthday is a mother's day of suffering. Mom, you've worked hard."
Nicole had been a bit worried that they had come to celebrate this birthday without Josephine's consent and that she might feel uncomfortable. But clearly, they had overthought it.
After the meal, the children were the first to present their birthday gifts.
Ulysses gave Josephine a set of his favorite assembly toys. When giving it to Josephine, he was very reluctant, "Josephine, you have to cherish the gift I gave you."
Josephine smiled, "It's beautiful. But I'm abroad now and have no place to put it. How about you take it home for me, and I'll get it when I return."
Ulysses quickly hugged it to his chest, "Alright."
Gerald laughed, "Don't be so stingy."
Ulysses was unhappy, "What's wrong! I earned the money for this myself, of course, I have to cherish it!"
Josephine stood on tiptoe and patted his hair, "Good boy, Ulysses."
Ulysses was immediately comforted, "Josephine, you're the best."
Next was Jeffery's gift. No one expected him to give a set of real estate.
Josephine looked at the property deed he took out and was surprised, "When did you... Did Great-Grandpa give it to you?"
Jeffery shook his head, then said a bit proudly, "I earned it myself!"
Ulysses, standing next to him, was shocked, "What? What!"
He couldn't believe that Jeffery's earning ability was stronger than his!
He thought earning a few hundred or thousand dollars from part-time jobs was already impressive. How could Jeffery earn millions?
He didn't believe it!
Jeffery said, "I gave my money to Dad, oh, and Liam. They helped me invest it, and the money I earned, I used to buy a house for Mom."
Ulysses remained silent, too shocked to speak. He sighed and remarked, "The value of having a good father."
In terms of father-son relationships, Stuart was always eager to meet Jeffery's every need. However, Gerald's treatment of Ulysses left him looking distressed.
Gerald said, "What, your dad isn't good? Want to switch?"
Ulysses quickly waved his hands, "No, I didn't mean that. But, Dad, can I manage my own money?"
Gerald smiled at him, "What do you think?"
Ulysses was on the verge of tears. Same world, different dads, his life was so hard.
The Clarence Family certainly wasn't short of money, but Gerald had been training Ulysses from a young age, not allowing him to develop bad habits.
To this day, none of Ulysses' classmates knew his family's financial situation. They all thought he came from an ordinary family.
After all, he was the kid who had to work at a coffee shop during summer and winter breaks.
Compared to Jeffery, who at just over four years old, could give away a house. Ulysses felt his gift was simply too shabby.
Looking around, his gift was the cheapest. Ulysses was even more depressed.
But Josephine thanked to him privately, and he was happy again.
Other people's gifts were valuable, but only his was handmade! The most meaningful!
Indeed, Josephine was the best aunt in the world.
In the afternoon, Josephine didn't go to work. She spent time with her family, walked around the area, and in the evening, they went to see the city lights and had dinner at the most beautiful hotel.
When it was time to sleep, Stuart thought he could finally have some alone time with Josephine. But who knew, Jeffery wanted to sleep with Josephine.
Stuart pulled him aside, "Jeffery, you're grown up now. You can't sleep with Mom anymore."
Jeffery looked at him without blinking, "Then how old are you, and you still sleep with Mommy?"
