Chapter 504 Let's Try to Date

She had seen Gerald many times before, both in real life and on television.

No matter when, Gerald was always energetic and tall.

But now, he was lying in a hospital bed, dressed in casual clothes, his hair disheveled, revealing a bit of vulnerability.

Kathy looked around and saw that he was alone in the ward.

She walked over with flowers and a fruit basket. "Mr. Clarence."

Gerald hadn't seen Kathy for a long time.

The last time he saw her was at the city hall, but it was just a quick glance.

Now, Kathy was standing in front of him.

Thinking about last night, Gerald felt a bit uneasy.

Their eyes met, but because they both had things on their minds, they quickly looked away.

Gerald spoke, "Why did you bring so many things?"

"It's nothing." Kathy put the things down and asked him, "Has your fever gone down?"

Gerald said, "Yes, it's much better."

"That's good."

"Sit for a while."

"Okay."

Kathy sat down by the bed.

For a moment, the ward fell silent.

Kathy didn't know how to start the conversation.

She was actually very excited because this was their first proper private meeting.

But she was also very nervous.

When she came today, she didn't know what to wear.

Too formal, and it would be obvious what she was thinking.

But too casual, and it might seem disrespectful.

In the end, Kathy just wore her work clothes.

Although it was casual wear, it wasn't too informal.

In Gerald's eyes, Kathy looked really young, like a college student.

And she looked very obedient.

Gerald cleared his throat and asked, "Um... are you thirsty?"

Kathy quickly said, "I'm not thirsty."

Kathy was so nervous that her heart was pounding.

The ward fell silent again.

Kathy twisted her hands together.

She looked at Gerald, "Do you, do you want some water?"

"I'm not thirsty either."

She quickly looked away again.

Gerald looked at the flowers she bought. There were roses and sunflowers.

He said, "The flowers are beautiful."

"I didn't know what to buy," Kathy said. "I'm glad you like them."

"Kathy."

"Yes."

This was the first time Gerald called her by her name in private.

"There's something I want to talk to you about."

Kathy suddenly had a bad feeling.

She stood up, "Actually, I have something to do..."

She turned to leave as she spoke.

"Kathy!" Gerald called out.

Kathy didn't stop and walked quickly to the door.

"I don't feel well."

Hearing this, Kathy immediately turned back and quickly walked to his bedside. "Where do you feel unwell? I'll call the doctor!"

Gerald reached out and grabbed the hem of her clothes.

Kathy didn't dare to move.

Gerald sighed, "Can't we talk?"

Kathy lowered her eyes and didn't dare to look at him. "I'm afraid of what you might say."

Gerald said, "If there's a problem, it needs to be solved."

Kathy didn't say anything.

Now, she was the problem, right?

Gerald wanted to solve her.

Gerald let go of her and asked, "What do you like about me?"

Kathy's face turned red.

Gerald watched as a faint blush appeared on her cheeks, and even her ears turned red.

He didn't expect such a big reaction from a simple question.

Kathy didn't respond, so Gerald called her again. "Kathy?"

Kathy took a deep breath and looked up at him.

Gerald and Josephine were siblings, so naturally, he was good-looking.

In fact, over the years, he was the most handsome leader.

With his sharp eyebrows, starry eyes, high nose, and thin lips, his face was meticulously crafted by the creator.

Kathy wasn't someone who judged by appearance. What she initially admired was Gerald's principles and integrity.

But she had to admit, looking at Gerald's face, it was really heart-stirring.

Gerald was also looking at her.

Kathy's features were delicate and small, maybe not as exquisite as Josephine's, but she looked very comfortable, like a breath of fresh air.

Seeing Kathy not speaking, Gerald asked again."Or, do you actually have no feelings for me?"

This time, Kathy shook her head, "No."

"Then what is it?" Gerald looked at her, with a hint of a smile in his eyes.

Even though he was leaning against the headboard, wearing a hospital gown, his calm and steady demeanor was still very intimidating.

Even if a mountain collapsed in front of him, he wouldn't change his expression.

In the political arena, few couldn't read people's minds.

In Gerald's view, Kathy was too naive.

Like a college student who just entered society, unfamiliar with the ways of the adult world.

He understood that Kathy, after all, was a researcher, and her social circle was relatively simple.

Kathy looked away again, a little embarrassed to look at him.

She said, "I do like you."

Gerald asked, "But actually, I have many flaws. Do you know me well?"

Kathy said, "When two people are in a relationship, they like each other because of their strengths. As for flaws, everyone has them. I think if two people are together, there will be a period of adjustment, and they will adapt to each other's personalities. Who doesn't have flaws?"

"You have a point," Gerald said. "But I usually don't have time. If you message me, I might not reply."

Kathy said, "It's okay, I'm used to it."

"I think you see me as a confidant, right?"

Kathy was startled and looked panicked, "I, I'm not."

Seeing her panicked look, Gerald didn't know why, but he wanted to laugh.

He said, "Really? Did you think I wouldn't read your messages?"

At first, she didn't think so, but later, Gerald rarely replied to her.

Kathy guessed that maybe too many people were contacting him, so he didn't have the time or opportunity to see her messages.

Gerald continued, "I read them. Every message you sent, I read."

Kathy's heart started pounding.

What did Gerald mean by this?

Gerald continued, "I have many flaws, no time, and I'm more than ten years older than you. Do you still like a man like that?"

Kathy bit her lower lip. "I do."

"Then let's give it a try."

Kathy gasped.

Gerald asked, "Don't you want to?"

Kathy looked at him in shock, "What, what did you just say?"

Gerald said, "I said, let's give it a try. You like me, right? Then we can try dating."

Kathy looked at him in disbelief, "Am I... am I hearing things? Or are you delirious from the fever?"
