Chapter 500 Daughter-in-law?

Gerald said, "No."

"What do you mean, no?" Josephine asked, puzzled.

Gerald said, "Didn't you ask if I had a partner or someone I liked? No, I don't."

"No? I don't believe it!" Josephine said, "Then what's the deal with the scarf?"

Realizing back to the scarf again, Gerald said, "A friend gave it to me. I can't even have a friend?"

"Then tell me, is this friend a man or a woman? You can at least tell me that, right?"

Gerald said, "Can't I have a bit of privacy?"

"Then it must be a woman!" Josephine concluded, "Gerald, what's so embarrassing about that? If you like her and don't know how to pursue her, I can teach you!"

"What? Have you pursued someone before?"

Josephine said, "I haven't experienced it, but haven't I seen it?"

Gerald said, "Thanks, but no thanks."

"Gerald, Gerald," Josephine hurried to catch up as he walked away, "You don't understand women, let me help you with some advice, okay?"

"No need."

"Why not?" Josephine followed him, "If you really have no interest, then I won't bother you..."

Before Josephine could finish, Gerald saw Stuart.

He said, "Quick, take your wife away."

Stuart walked over with a smile, putting his arm around Josephine's waist. "What's going on?"

Gerald pinched the bridge of his nose. "She wants to teach me how to pursue someone."

Stuart was puzzled. "Gerald, do you have someone you like?"

Gerald said, "No, that's why I want you to take her away quickly."

Josephine said, "Gerald is just too embarrassed to admit it. Liking someone is normal, there's nothing to be embarrassed about."

Stuart smiled at her, "Alright, you've been talking to Gerald for a long time, go have some soup."

Josephine's face scrunched up, "Soup again?"

"The housekeeper just made it." Stuart looked at Gerald, "Gerald, you should have some too."

Gerald said, "It's made for Josephine, what should I drink?"

"It's to replenish energy and blood. You can drink it too." Stuart said, "Mom specifically mentioned that you've been on a business trip these past few days and probably haven't rested well, so you should drink more."

The three of them went to the dining room to have soup, but Josephine was still not giving up and wanted to continue the previous topic.

But Stuart somehow managed to steer the conversation with Gerald towards the economic situation.

She couldn't get a word in.

After finishing the soup, Gerald said, "I still have some work to do, you guys continue, I'll go to the study."

After he went to the study, Josephine asked Stuart, "Did you do that on purpose? I wanted to talk to Gerald about his girlfriend, but I couldn't get a word in."

Stuart said, "You don't need to ask, Gerald doesn't have a girlfriend."

"How do you know?"

"He's so busy, do you think he has time to date?"

"That's not necessarily true." Josephine said, "Maybe he's in the ambiguous stage. Anyway, I think something's off. Who would give a scarf to just a friend? Has anyone given you a scarf?"

Stuart looked at her plaintively, "You haven't given me one either."

"I'm talking about Gerald," Josephine said, "Why are you feeling wronged? If you want one, I'll buy it for you."

"I'm not feeling wronged." Stuart kissed her, "I often feel like this is a beautiful dream given to me by God, afraid that if I wake up, all of this will be gone."

"Are you silly?" Josephine held his hand, letting him touch her face, "Look, I'm real."

She then pulled his hand to touch her belly, "And our baby, this is all real. If it's really a dream, then it's a pretty long one, you've been dreaming for so long."

Stuart's smile deepened, his eyes seemed to be filled with little stars, sparkling.

After Gerald returned, it was naturally impossible for him to stay at the Haustia Mansion.

With the New Year approaching, although Andrew tried hard to persuade him to stay, because the Clarence Family was expecting guests and Nicole saw that Josephine was fine and Stuart was taking good care of her, they went back.

When Gerald got home, he saw that the scarf had already been returned by Ulysses.

Gerald knew he wouldn't wear it, but somehow, when he heard his son say he took the scarf, he felt a bit uncomfortable.

He felt it was a matter of respect for Kathy.

After all, it was a gift from someone else, and it wasn't appropriate for him to give it to Ulysses.

He closed the wardrobe, and just then his phone rang.

He picked it up and saw that Kathy had sent him another message.

It seemed like she didn't expect Gerald to reply. Gerald himself felt that Kathy was more like keeping a diary.

Just like now, she said: [Today I'm feeling a bit unwell, lying in bed not wanting to get up, but I have work to do, so I have to get up!]

Gerald's lips curved into a smile.

It was as if he could see a girl reluctantly getting out of bed, looking pitiful.

He belatedly realized that he still remembered what Kathy looked like.

Actually, Gerald had a good memory. When he was in school, he had good grades.

He was also good at remembering people; basically, once he met someone, he wouldn't forget them.

But in his eyes, there was no distinction between men and women.

When he thought of someone, he would think of their position, as most of the people he dealt with were staff members.

But when he thought of Kathy, he didn't know when it started, but she was no longer just a "person involved."

Gerald remembered Josephine saying that Kathy studied physics and her current work was very meaningful.

Such an excellent girl, although in the eyes of ordinary people, she was in her thirties and might be considered a bit old.

But to Gerald, compared to himself, she was still young.

He was already forty-five, more than ten years older than her.

Gerald looked at the scarf again, thinking he should find an opportunity to tell Josephine.

Tell Kathy not to waste her time on him anymore.

However, Gerald didn't expect that the scarf incident wouldn't over.

Josephine asked once, and Nicole was still thinking about it.

"Tell me, who exactly gave you that scarf?" Nicole asked, "Or, tell me, do I have any hope of seeing you have an another wife in this lifetime?"

Gerald was quite helpless. "Mom, I think instead of focusing on me, you should look forward to what your granddaughter-in-law will be like."

Ulysses was already on vacation and was surprised to hear this, "Dad, you can't do that, what did I do to deserve you shifting the topic to me?"

He then looked at Nicole, "Grandma, I'm not in a relationship."

Nicole said, "Now that you're in college, you can start dating. If you like a girl, go after her, understand?"

Ulysses mumbled, "Last year you told me not to date, and now you're encouraging it? You adults are really..."

Gerald glanced at him, "Of course it's different, you were still a minor last year."

Nicole brought the topic back, "I'm not worried about my grandson; it's your personal issue that you need to pay attention to."
