Chapter 73 Unrestrained

An ambulance from the military base arrived quickly, and several soldiers carried William onto it.

Josephine went along too.

Stuart had a fierce look, as if he wanted to tear William apart.

Jair pulled him forcefully. He scolded, "Stuart, you put me in a tough spot. Bringing you to the military base wasn’t for you to start a fight!"

Stuart said nothing, just stared angrily at the departing vehicle.

Jair continued, "Josephine and he are just having normal interactions. Why are you so sensitive? Besides, in public, they wouldn't cross any lines. Why are you so impulsive?"

Stuart said, "To the hospital."

Hearing this, Jair couldn’t help but sigh. He said helplessly, "Did you listen to anything I said? Why are you going to the hospital, to apologize?"

Stuart said, "I’ll apologize if he’s still alive to accept it!"

"Stuart!" Jair was truly angry now. He pointed out, "What exactly do you want? The way you’re acting now is really not normal!"

This shout brought a moment of clarity to Stuart’s mind.

But jealousy made him lose all reason.

Fearing Stuart might do something behind his back, Jair had no choice but to take him to the hospital.

William had a fractured rib.

After the examination and diagnosis, William didn’t stay in the hospital long, and Josephine wanted to accompany him home.

Since the rib fracture didn’t damage any internal organs, it didn’t need special treatment, just bandaging and time to heal.

Seeing Josephine running around, taking care of William, Stuart’s face was extremely dark.

He said nothing, just stared at Josephine with a gloomy expression.

It wasn’t until Josephine was about to leave with William that Stuart stepped forward and grabbed her wrist.

Stuart asked, "Do you remember whose wife you are?"

Josephine looked at him coldly. She rebutted, "It’s because you injured William that I need to do these things."

"Don’t make excuses for your actions!" Stuart shouted angrily, "Before I came, weren’t you already getting close to him?"

Josephine found him utterly unreasonable and shook him off, intending to leave.

Stuart said, "Josephine, if you dare go, don’t ever come back to the Haustia family!"

Josephine looked back at him, her gaze resolute.

She didn’t say a word, turned around, and left.

Anger surged in Stuart, his chest felt tight.

Just as Jair was about to speak, Stuart let out a roar and punched the nearby white wall.

Jair was startled; Stuart’s hand was surely injured.

He quickly grabbed Stuart’s arm. He asked anxiously, "What are you doing!"

He pulled Stuart’s hand down, seeing spots of blood on the wall.

Looking at Stuart’s hand, the knuckles were bleeding.

It was clear how much force he had used.

Meanwhile, catching up with William, Josephine first said, "I’m sorry."

William, unable to sit up, lay in the ambulance from the military base.

He smiled. He calmly replied, "Josephine, this isn’t your fault. You don’t need to apologize to me."

Josephine said, "It’s because of me that Stuart attacked you."

William’s smile faded. He asked worriedly, "Josephine, he’s hot-tempered and unpredictable. Has he ever done anything to you?"

Josephine understood his concern and shook her head. She honestly answered, "He’s never hit me."

As for other private matters, Josephine certainly wouldn’t talk to William about them.

William said, "He may have a good family background and looks, but Josephine, I’ll be honest with you, don’t get mad. He doesn’t deserve you."

Josephine was determined to divorce and didn’t care about Stuart anymore.

However, she wouldn’t tell William about her divorce plans.

After all, William had once had feelings for her. If not for Stuart, she would have kept her distance from William.

Unexpectedly, Stuart injured him, and she had to come and comfort William.

She smiled. She simply remarked, "In today’s society, many couples have relationship issues. It’s quite normal."

Willian said, "But..."

"Mr. Campbell, let’s not talk about this," Josephine said, "Did you remember the doctor’s instructions?"

William said, "Even now, you still call me Mr. Campbell."

Josephine smiled apologetically but said nothing.

It was clear she didn’t want to get closer to William.

William looked down in sadness. He said pitifully, "I wasn’t feeling well earlier. I can’t quite remember what the doctor said."

Josephine said, "I’ll send you the instructions."

After sending him home, Josephine reminded him again.

As she was about to leave, William said, "If someone else had hurt me, I’d definitely take them to court."

Josephine was silent for a few seconds, then spoke, "If you want to sue, go ahead. If you need me as a witness or anything, just let me know."

William looked at her. He asked, "You won't try to dissuade me?"

Josephine said, "It was his fault. He attacked you without reason; he should be punished."

William said, "Alright."

After Josephine left William’s place, she received a call from Jair.

"Josephine," Jair said, "When are you coming back to the military base?"

Josephine had already sent the ambulance back and now had to take a cab alone. She replied, "I’m heading back now."

Jair said, "When you arrive, come to my office. We need to talk."

Even if Jair didn’t seek her out, Josephine would have gone to him.

Stuart’s sudden appearance was definitely related to Jair.

However, Josephine didn’t expect to find Stuart in Jair’s office.

She was still in her training camouflage uniform, with a white down jacket over it, the hood lined with fur; her chin nestled in the fluffy fur, making her look even more attractive.

Jair’s office was warm, and Josephine took off her jacket, ignoring Stuart.

She directly said, "Major, I hope you can give me an explanation."

She didn’t even address him as Mr. Cook.

Jair glanced at Stuart.

From the moment Josephine entered, Stuart’s eyes hadn’t left her.

But his gaze was fierce, not like looking at a wife, more like looking at an enemy.

Stuart spoke first, his voice cold, "What kind of explanation do you want? Besides an apology, do you want me in jail too?"

Josephine said, "So Mr. Haustia knows that assault can lead to jail time. I thought you were already acting with impunity."

Stuart said, "Josephine!"

Josephine looked at him fearlessly. "Did I say something wrong? Mr. Haustia thinks he can hit anyone he wants, disregarding human life?"

"Josephine, you misunderstand Stuart," Jair quickly interjected, "He acted out of concern for you."

"Then I should thank him." Josephine’s voice was laced with sarcasm. "He’s concerned about the Haustia family’s reputation, right? Besides, I didn’t do anything, and he wanted to beat William to death?"

Stuart shouted angrily, "That William is cunning and despicable. He’s skilled enough that he intentionally let me kick him, deliberately framing me, and you fell for it!"
