Chapter 35 How Far Have You Developed
Josephine avoided his gaze. "You don't have to worry about it. I've never asked you who you liked either."
Stuart suddenly gripped her chin. "Is it Liam? If it's him, why do you agree to the engagement? You could have married him."
Josephine's chin hurt from his grip. "Stuart, you're hurting me. Let go!"
Stuart was oblivious to how much force he was using; all his attention was on the possibility of Liam.
Just the thought of Josephine possibly marrying Liam was enough to drive Stuart crazy, even if it was just his own speculation.
Josephine was in tears, and she forcefully pulled his hand away. "You're an insane!"
Her skin was smooth, and Stuart could easily leave marks on her body with his kisses.
At this moment, there was a clear thumbprint on Josephine's chin, with a hint of bruising.
Stuart averted his gaze, trying to suppress the inexplicable worry welling up inside him.
"Is it really Liam?" His face darkened.
At the same time, Stuart thought of the last time he fought with Liam.
Stuart believed he shouldn't have held back; he should have hit Liam harder.
"Are you out of your mind?" Josephine was speechless. "Liam is just a friend."
They never liked playing with each other since they were young, but Stuart's hostility towards Liam was particularly strong.
However, there would inevitably be some business dealings between their families. Although they didn't like each other, they weren't as hostile as when they were young.
But as soon as Stuart and Liam met, they would immediately start accusing each other, so others thought they harbored an intense animosity towards each other.
Josephine just didn't expect that Stuart would have such a misunderstanding about her.
"A friend?" Stuart almost laughed in anger. "Is he a friend you can hug and kiss? Josephine, if you openly admit it, I can still have some respect for you."
Josephine was already angry. "What are you talking about? I've already told you we're just friends. You're the one with a twisted mind, so you think everyone is like you. That's your problem."
"Is that so?" Stuart handed her the phone. "It seems you won't admit your mistake until the last moment. When you were fooling around in the car back then, you didn't expect to be photographed, did you?"
After Stuart finished speaking, he placed the phone in front of Josephine. "Take a look at this! Do you have anything else to say?"
Josephine was already very angry, but when she glanced over, she was instantly stunned.
"What is this?" She reached out to grab the phone, wanting to see more clearly.
Stuart simply pushed the phone closer to her eyes. "Take a good look."
After Josephine saw the details on it, she said directly, "This is fake! How could I do such a thing?"
"You still won't admit it? I've had someone authenticate it, and this photo is the original without any traces of manipulation."
Looking at the date on it, Josephine thought for a moment. Liam did indeed drive her home that day.
She fell asleep in the car.
She looked up at Stuart. "So, do you suspect that Liam and I have an improper relationship?"
"Why would I still need to suspect you? The fact is right here. Josephine, what about your moral bottom line? You were so smug when you mocked me, right?"
"Stuart, there's no need for you to be sarcastic," Josephine said. "I am innocent. If I had any improper relationship with Liam, as you said, I would have married him long ago. Why would I endure this with you?"
"Of course, it's because the Clement family is not as well off as the Haustia family!"
"So, in your eyes, I'm the kind of person who can put my own feelings aside for the sake of my interests. Oh, and besides cheating and fooling around with my friends, what else do I have to be accused of? You can say it all."
"Don't pretend to be an innocent victim," Stuart retorted angrily.
"The photos are right here. The evidence is already sufficient, so why don't you admit it?"
"Have you ever considered that the photo might have been taken out of context?" Josephine took a deep breath before speaking. "I've always considered Liam as a friend as family. That day, he was just helping me with my seatbelt because I had fallen asleep in the car."
"Is that so?" Stuart sneered. "So, if you ended up in bed, you'd tell me you were just having a chat under the covers, right?"
"Stuart!" Josephine shouted, her anger palpable.
Stuart was furious too. "Do I say anything wrong?"
He blamed himself for not developing the photos and throwing them away.
But as Stuart's mind caught up, he realized he had already smashed his phone.
Josephine trembled in fear.
"Josephine, I do treat Doris well, but I act according to propriety, but what about you? You say you and Liam are friends. You are so desperate that you even seduce your friends. Haven’t I not satisfied …"
Stuart's words were cut off.
Suddenly, a loud slap echoed.
The room fell silent.
Josephine looked at her trembling hand in disbelief.
She couldn't believe she had actually slapped Stuart.
Stuart's cheek turned to the side, his mouth slightly open, his tongue touching the inside of his face.
Josephine was in a wheelchair, so her strength was limited.
It didn't cause much physical harm to Stuart, but it was a great insult.
Stuart had never been slapped in his life.
He rubbed the corner of his mouth with his thumb and suddenly smiled.
Josephine nervously swallowed.
Although they had never liked Stuart, they had only expressed it through words at most.
Even the few fights were just between boys.
Josephine's mind was in chaos. 'Stuart won't hit a woman, right?'
'He just had an accident and has a concussion, so would my slap injured him? It wouldn't reach that point.'
Stuart lowered his head to look at her.
Josephine's eyes were confused, her mind in a daze, staring blankly at her own hand, as if she was in a daze.
Stuart couldn't help but grab her chin again, forcing her to look at him.
"Josephine, I'll ask you again. What is your relationship with Liam? Did you sleep together?" Stuart's face was full of anger, his tone icy.
"You better tell me the truth. Otherwise, the entire Kalmien family won't be enough to calm me down."
"Stuart!" Josephine's eyes were teary. She had come to her senses and looked at him with determination.
"You do have the power to do anything to the Kalmien family, but does that give you the right to insult people at will?"
"Then how do you prove that you and Liam are just friends?"
"I am innocent, but you don't believe whatever I say, so why bother asking me?"
"Won't you tell me?" Stuart sneered.
"I'll go ask Liam. He dares to sleep with my wife. I will kill him."
"You!" Josephine was shocked. "Stuart, how dare you?"
Josephine was afraid that Stuart would really do something to Liam.
Secondly, if Stuart went to ask Liam about this, how could Josephine face Liam in the future?
