Chapter 520 I Didn't Mean It

Nicole said, "Her dad called me. How can you, as a man, hit a woman no matter what?"

Gerald felt helpless, "Mom, didn't he tell you why I laid hands on his daughter? Of course, he wouldn't mention that."

"What?" Nicole asked, "There's no reason for you to hit a woman! I don't even know when you developed the ability to hit women!"

Gerald had to explain, "Mom, I didn't hit her. She suddenly came over and hugged me. Should I just stand there and let her hug me? So, I grabbed her wrist and threw her out."

"She hugged you? Why did she hug you? Are you messing around with her behind my back? Have you forgotten that you have a girlfriend?"

Gerald felt wronged, "Mom, am I that kind of person? Besides, if I were really messing around with her, would I avoid her when she hugged me?"

"That's true. So, she hugged you without your consent, and you pushed her away?"

"That's what happened," Gerald said. "Her dad doesn't know the situation, so how could he have the nerve to call you?"

Gerald decided to tell Nicole everything that happened today.

Finally, he said, "She even said that Kathy and I are not suitable, and that she is more suitable for me. What a joke! I don't even know her. Just because she likes me, does that mean I have to like her?"

Nicole frowned, "It seems I need to make things clear to their family. I thought they would understand after I talked to them about the matchmaking this morning."

Gerald was puzzled, "What matchmaking?"

Nicole said, "It's about Josephine..."

She didn't finish, suddenly remembering that Josephine had asked her to keep it a secret and not tell Gerald.

Gerald was even more puzzled, "Josephine? What does this have to do with Josephine?"

Nicole quickly tried to cover it up, "It's not that. Anyway, I'll call the West family later and handle this for you!"

Gerald wasn't so easily fooled. He asked, "Mom, tell me clearly, what does this have to do with Josephine? Elara is a spoiled person, and I don't want her to have any connection with Josephine."

Nicole didn't say anything.

Gerald continued, "Josephine is pregnant now. If anything goes wrong..."

"She wouldn't dare!" Nicole said, "If the West family dares to touch a hair on Josephine's head, I'll fight them to the end!"

"So, what's going on? How did Josephine find out about Elara and me?"

Nicole sighed, "I only found out after asking Josephine. She didn't want to tell me at first. It was... it was Kathy who approached her."

"Kathy?" Gerald was even more puzzled. "Kathy talked to Josephine about Elara?"

Gerald thought, could it be that Kathy suspected something about his relationship with Elara after their dinner meeting?

Nicole said, "Elara contacted Kathy."

"What!" Gerald immediately stood up. "When did this happen? Why didn't anyone tell me?"

Nicole looked at him, "Why are you reacting so strongly? It's not a big deal!"

Gerald said, "Mom, if you don't have anything else, I won't talk to you now. I'm going upstairs."

Nicole saw him leave and shouted after him, "Don't take out your anger on Josephine and Kathy. Get the facts straight first, okay?"

Gerald walked upstairs and replied, "Got it."

When he got to his room, he immediately called Josephine.

He wanted to find out what was going on.

Josephine didn't expect things to be exposed so quickly.

Kathy approached her because she didn't want Gerald to know, fearing it would affect his mood and waste his time.

Gerald asked directly, "Josephine, what's going on with Elara? Did she go to Kathy?"

Josephine said, "How did you know?"

"Mom told me, but she didn't explain clearly. So, don't hide it from me."

Josephine had no choice but to say, "She messaged Kathy and even called Kathy's workplace to get her fired! Gerald, how can she be like this?"

Gerald said, "When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me?"

Josephine said, "Kathy was afraid you were busy and worried, so she came to me."

"You guys are really..." Gerald sighed, "You're pregnant. Can you stop worrying about so many things? Just call me directly next time, okay?"

Josephine said, "But Kathy asked me to keep it a secret. She didn't want you to worry."

"Alright, I won't talk to you anymore."

After hanging up, Josephine quickly messaged Kathy: [Gerald has found out]

Kathy received Josephine's message and panicked.

She asked: [How does he find out?]

Josephine replied: [It's a long story. I think Gerald will contact you. Don't hide it from him.]

Kathy could only reply: [Okay, I got it.]

After ending the chat, Kathy sat there in a daze.

At first, she didn't want to go to Josephine, considering Josephine was pregnant and she didn't want to burden her.

But clearly, someone like Elara was too much for Kathy to handle alone.

Not to mention the shameless messages Elara sent her, Kathy didn't know how to deal with them.

She thought that everyone had self-respect, and if Josephine talked to Elara, she would understand.

But who knew, things had gotten so messy?

She didn't want Gerald to know, but he found out so quickly.

Kathy was lost in thought, not knowing how long had passed, when her phone rang.

She saw it was a message from Gerald.

Gerald: [Come downstairs.]

Kathy was startled and asked: [Are you downstairs at my place?]

She checked the time; it was almost ten o'clock.

Gerald replied: [Yes, it's cold outside, wear something warm.]

Kathy quickly put on a coat and ran downstairs.

As soon as she exited the building, she saw Gerald.

Gerald was standing in front of a black luxury car.

Kathy had never seen this car before.

He usually had a driver from work, and Kathy had never seen him drive his own car.

Now, Gerald stood there, tall and elegant, wearing a gray cashmere coat, looking noble and handsome.

Kathy quickly ran over. "Why are you here?"

She came down in a hurry, her breath uneven, the white mist from her mouth quickly dissipating in the air.

"Slow down." Gerald supported her arm briefly and then let go. "I have something to talk to you about, so I came over."

"It's so cold," Kathy said, "Should we go upstairs?"

Gerald said, "It's too late. I won't go up. Get in the car; I've turned on the heater."

They got in the car, and Kathy didn't dare to look at him.

Gerald brought it up, "Did Elara contact you?"

Kathy knew that Gerald was coming to her at this time must be because of Elara.

She had no choice but to say, "Yes, I didn't mean to hide it from you."
