Chapter 423 Committing a Crime in Public

Nicole had observed for some time and found that Josephine actually had a very good temper, which made her worry whether Josephine would be wronged if she remarried Stuart.

However, she also discovered that while Josephine had a good temper, she had her limits.

Moreover, at Nicole's age, she was good at judging people. Stuart's feelings for Josephine were genuine.

More importantly, with the Clarence Family as her backing, Stuart probably wouldn't dare to bully Josephine.

Up to now, Nicole was completely satisfied with Stuart. As long as the two of them were fine and no more problems arose, she had already agreed to the marriage.

Of course, she wouldn't say this to Josephine. If Josephine told Stuart, and Stuart became arrogant, that wouldn't be good.

However, Josephine could also see that Nicole had no objections to Stuart. But Josephine still felt a bit guilty.

How is it that, after seeing a psychologist for so long, she still resists getting intimate with Stuart? Josephine decided to secretly talk to her psychologist, Casey West, again. She didn't want Stuart to know about her anxiety.

When she got to Casey's office, Casey also told her not to rush. The more she cared about it, the slower the recovery, which was also a characteristic of psychological issues.

Only when she truly didn't care about it would it be completely resolved.

If Josephine was still nervous now, it meant there were still some unresolved issues in her heart.

Josephine was a bit confused; she didn't even know what unresolved issues she had.

While she was talking to the doctor, her phone rang. It was Stuart calling.

She answered, and Stuart asked, "Are you at home?"

Josephine said, "No, I'm at Dr. West's office."

"Why did you go there by yourself?" Stuart asked anxiously, "Are you feeling unwell?"

Josephine quickly replied, "No, I was just passing by and decided to come up and talk to him."

"Alright. Wait for me there, I'll be there in ten minutes to pick you up."

"No need."

"I'll be there soon, wait for me."

Stuart hung up the phone.

Josephine had wanted to talk to Casey a bit longer. But now, it seemed she had to leave.

"Thank you, Dr. West," Josephine said sincerely, "Sorry for the trouble."

Casey, a man nearing sixty with a daughter about Josephine's age, smiled and said, "You and Mr. Haustia are both my VIP clients. It's my duty to serve you."

Though he said that, he was considered a top expert in psychological counseling in the country. He took good care of Josephine and escorted her downstairs.

Checking the time, Stuart should be arriving soon. Josephine said goodbye and waited in the parking lot.

Suddenly, Josephine felt something and quickly looked behind her.

A man in black clothes glanced at her casually. Josephine wasn't sure if she was being paranoid, but she felt his gaze was strange.

Ever since encountering a mentally ill person at the supermarket entrance, Josephine had been extra cautious.

She squeezed her bag, pretending to take out her phone, and reached for the pepper spray inside, while quickening her pace back towards the counseling office.

The man seemed to realize she wanted to escape and quickly chased after her.

One hand was hidden in his coat, while the other reached out.

His plan was to grab Josephine's hair with one hand and stab her with the knife in the other. But plans never keep up with changes. Before he could grab Josephine's hair, someone restrained him.

However, his other hand, following his brain's command, stabbed out. All this happened in an instant.

When Stuart saw this scene, his heart almost jumped out of his chest. He ran over desperately and intercepted the man before he could strike.

But the next second, Stuart saw a flash of the knife and felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. Looking down, he saw bright red blood flowing from the knife.

Josephine was stunned by the sudden change, holding Stuart and almost unable to speak.

Seeing his plan fail, the man turned to run but was pinned to the ground by Stuart's driver.

"Mr. Haustia!" The driver stepped on the man and quickly took out his phone to call for an ambulance.

"Stuart!" Josephine's vision blurred with tears filling her eyes. She was a doctor, but at that moment, she was so nervous she didn't know what to do. Her heart was tightly clenched, and she couldn't utter a word.

The commotion finally drew the attention of nearby people, including those in the counseling office.

Casey also came over and provided emergency treatment to Stuart. Soon, the ambulance arrived.

Stuart's wound needed stitching, and he was taken to the emergency room.

Josephine sat dazed outside, her heart pounding, her mind in chaos.

The last time, at the supermarket entrance, a mentally ill person had almost hurt her. Stuart had shielded her then. And now, it was Stuart again.

If it weren't for Stuart, that knife would have stabbed her.

How could someone be so bold as to commit a crime in broad daylight? What would happen to Stuart? Would his organs be damaged?

Josephine covered her face, unable to stop the tears from flowing.

Today, she truly understood what fear was. The fear of losing the most important thing made her feel incredibly fragile.

The driver contacted Ronald, who quickly arrived.

"I just asked another doctor. In this situation, there's no life-threatening danger," Ronald told Josephine. "Don't worry too much."

Josephine nodded absentmindedly, her eyes fixed on the emergency room door.

"Should we call Mr. Andrew Haustia? Or Mr. Elbert Haustia..."

Josephine finally felt a bit clearer in her mind. Andrew was old and couldn't handle the shock.

Elbert was in the lab and might not be reachable.

Josephine shook her head, "Let's wait a bit longer." She believed Stuart would be fine. She would wait until he came out of the emergency room to see how he was.

Waiting was always long and hard. Every minute and second was torturous.

The longer it took, the worse Stuart's condition might be. Josephine took several deep breaths but still felt like a heavy stone was pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the emergency room door opened, and a nurse came out.

Josephine quickly ran over, "Excuse me, how is the person with the external wound?"

"He can be moved to the observation room," the nurse said. "Are you family? You need to pay the fees and do a few more tests."

Josephine asked, "No internal organ damage, right?"

The nurse replied, "Fortunately, no."

Josephine let out a sigh of relief, her body going weak as she leaned against the wall.
