Chapter 460 What Does It Have to Do with Marriage Materials

Nicole quickly replied to Josephine's message.

Nicole: [Getting the marriage certificate so early? Not waiting until after the wedding?]

Josephine: [We'll have to get it sooner or later, and we happen to be free tomorrow.]

Nicole replied: [lright, then let's have dinner with both families tomorrow night to celebrate.]

Seeing Nicole's response, Stuart finally felt relieved.

Josephine laughed and said, "What are you worried about? My mom has already agreed to our wedding, so getting the marriage certificate won't be a problem."

Stuart explained, "Didn't I mention before that if I had a daughter and she was treated like this, raising a child alone, I'd want to kill the guy! Thinking about it, I really understand Nicole and Gerald."

"But your feelings for me now are genuine," Josephine said. "I can tell."

"That's true, but if our daughter ever faced this situation, I think I'd be very controlling. Just thinking about it makes me angry!"

"Forget it," Josephine said. "If you're like this, I don't want to have a daughter."

"Why?" Stuart immediately got anxious. "Didn't you say you wanted a daughter?"

"She isn't even born yet, and you're already like this. If we really had a daughter, how spoiled would she be?"

"That won't happen," Stuart said. "I have my limits; I won't spoil her unconditionally."

"Remember what you said today."

"I swear!"

Later, when they actually had a daughter, Josephine realized that Stuart's promises couldn't be trusted.

Of course, that was a story for another time. For now, Josephine couldn't imagine how far someone could go in spoiling a child. But seeing how he treated Jeffery, although he was very loving, he still maintained his principles, which reassured her.

Knowing that Josephine genuinely wanted to have another child, Stuart was certainly happy. He couldn't wait to share the good news with Andrew.

For someone Andrew's age, nothing was more joyful than a growing family. Stuart reconciling with Josephine had already made Andrew very happy, and Josephine even brought Jeffery to him. Now they were planning to have another child. Andrew felt that even if he only lived until tomorrow, he would be content.

He told Stuart, "You should cherish what you've regained. Look at your parents; so much time was wasted."

"Yes, I know, Grandpa," Stuart said. "Don't worry, I'll cherish her for a lifetime."

The next day, after dropping Jeffery off at preschool, they walked home hand in hand instead of driving. It was less than a ten-minute walk, and though they didn't talk much, just holding hands was enough to satisfy them.

At the door of The Clarence Family, Stuart glanced at Josephine.

Josephine smiled and said, "Aren't you coming in with me?"

"Yes," Stuart said. "I should go in and say hello to Nicole and Gerald."

At this time, only Nicole and Gerald were home.

Although Ulysses' college was in Celestia Springs, he didn't come home often. Sometimes he worked on weekends.

"Nicole, Gerald," Stuart greeted.

Gerald knew they were getting their marriage certificate today and said, "At this point, you still haven't changed how you address us?"

Stuart was stunned.

Josephine smiled at him.

Stuart then realized and quickly called, "Mom..."

Nicole also smiled. "Good, but I didn't expect you today, so I don't have a gift for you. I'll give it to you next time."

"No need," Stuart quickly said. "Mom, Gerald, thank you. Don't worry, I'll take good care of Josephine and won't let her suffer."

"That's good," Nicole said. "Our families live close by, so I hope you can come back often. Now that Ulysses is at school, it's just Gerald and me at home, and it's very quiet."

"Sure, Josephine and I will bring Jeffery back often. Just don't get tired of us."

"How could I? Josephine is my only daughter, and she's getting married just after coming back." Nicole's eyes turned red as she said this.

Josephine walked over and hugged her. "Mom, I'm getting married, not leaving forever."

Josephine's words made Nicole laugh again.

The two of them eventually departed with their documents. At the city hall, there was no line since it wasn't a special day, so they completed their task quickly.

Looking at the marriage certificate in his hand, Stuart still felt a bit unreal.

They each held a copy, but after a while, Stuart took Josephine's copy too.

Josephine was puzzled. "What are you doing?"

"I'm taking a picture."

Josephine thought he would return it after taking the picture, but Stuart put it away directly.

"Shouldn't I keep mine?" she asked.

Stuart said, "I'll keep it. Besides, what use do you have for it?"

Josephine didn't expect that when he said he would keep it, he went straight upstairs after they got home.

Curious about what he was doing, Josephine followed him.

Stuart's study was rarely entered by others, and inside the study was a small room where important documents and materials were kept.

She saw him take the marriage certificates to the innermost part, squat down, open a door, and start entering a password.

That was where the safe was. Josephine knew, and Stuart had told her, that it contained very important things. It required several layers of passwords to open, and the security was very high. After opening it, Stuart carefully placed both marriage certificates inside.

Was he afraid someone would steal them? Josephine couldn't help but ask, "Is it necessary to put these in the safe?"

Stuart glanced at her. "Of course, it is. Wait, you know the password. Should I change it?"

Josephine was surprised. "Are you guarding against me?"

"If you can't get the marriage certificates, you can't back out." Stuart said this seriously and then instructed her, "Turn around; I'm changing the password."

Josephine said, "You don't need to change it. I didn't even remember the password you told me."

"That's good," Stuart said, then thought for a moment. "No, what if you're lying? I should change it to be safe."

Josephine was speechless. She walked over and pulled Stuart up. "We just got our marriage certificates and haven't even celebrated, and you're talking like this. What should I say to you?"

Stuart said, "I just want to be fully prepared!"

"What if you want a divorce?"

"Impossible!" Stuart frowned and thought for a moment. "Or, should we burn the marriage certificates? Wouldn't that be safer?"

Josephine said, "What are you talking about? If someone wants a divorce, they'll find a way, whether they have the marriage certificates or not!"
