Chapter 7 The Frivolous Woman
Josephine, of course, had no idea what was going on.
Claudia continued, "There's a charity auction tonight. Would you like to come with me?"
Josephine asked, "Aren't we talking about Doris? How do we switch topics?"
Claudia mysteriously replied, "You'll see. But before the event, come to my place, and I'll have someone do your makeup."
Josephine didn't have surgery today, so she took an hour off in the afternoon and went to Claudia's house.
Once there, Claudia immediately pulled her to the dressing table and started doing her makeup.
The makeup artist was well-known and had worked with many celebrities.
She remarked, "Ms. Kalmien has such great skin. That's true beauty. And with your aura, it's a shame you're not in the entertainment industry."
Josephine said, "I don't know how to sing or act. I wouldn't be able to do anything in the entertainment industry."
As the makeup artist chatted with her, she applied a light makeup that suited Josephine's skin and aura.
Her outfit, makeup, and hairstyle were all done, and Josephine got up.
Claudia was thrilled.
"Today, Josie is going to surprise everyone! Let's go!"
Josephine thought Claudia was joking. It wasn't until she arrived at the auction that she understood why Claudia had her dress up.
Because Stuart was there with Doris.
Josephine ran into Liam first.
Liam saw her, looked her up and down, and then said with a smile, "Where did this beauty come from? If no one wants you, I'll take you home."
"Don't be ridiculous," Josephine said, giving him a playful slap. "What brings you here?"
"I'm here with my mom," Liam replied. "Did you come with Claudia? You should let Claudia help you dress up in the future."
"Yeah," Claudia chimed in, "I agree! Leave it to me in the future. I'll make you a beauty every day!"
Josephine helplessly said, "I'm a doctor. I go to the hospital every day to treat and save lives, not to participate in beauty contests."
Liam said, "Patients feel better and recover faster when they see a beautiful doctor."
Josephine glared at him. "Nonsense."
Liam immediately turned to Claudia. "Claudia, see, she's only bullying me."
The three of them had grown up together and had a good relationship. They gathered to chat, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
After chatting for a while, Claudia went to answer a call, leaving only Liam and Josephine.
"If there's anything you like later, tell me, and I'll buy it for you," Liam said. "You look so good today, consider it a reward."
"These are all jewelry. You know I don't like those," Josephine smiled. "You can give them to Claudia."
Although Claudia had achieved a certain level of success in the industry, her current life was not as affluent as before.
Stuart and Doris entered, and the first person Stuart saw was Josephine.
She was wearing a fishtail gown with a full skirt, and a thin veil covered her slender arms. The dress connected to a beaded bodice, with a black lining designed in a wave pattern that extended to the back. Her sexy body curves were on full display.
Finally, there was the satin, floor-length train with a great sway. As she moved, the dress shimmered, as if it were sprinkled with stars from the sky, making it impossible to look away.
Not only her figure, but her naturally flawless skin, enhanced by the black fabric, was also enviable.
Her slender wrists, elegant neck, and sexy waist were all on display.
On ordinary days, only Stuart could see these advantages.
But today, her great figure was displayed in front of everyone. She smiled so charmingly.
Stuart couldn't help but quicken his pace.
Doris exclaimed and almost fell due to his sudden movement.
Stuart then realized and stopped to wait for her.
Doris was wearing the same evening gown that Josephine had worn last time.
In Doris's eyes, she wasn't as good-looking as Josephine. After all, Josephine's face was flawless.
But Stuart didn't like her.
Josephine's beauty was useless.
Doris believed she looked younger than Josephine, and her figure and skin were no less appealing, though she was not as good-looking as Josephine.
Josephine may wear stylish clothes, but Doris was sure she would look even better in them.
Compared to Josephine, she was a better match for Stuart.
Indeed, when Doris put on that silver evening gown and did her makeup, she received many compliments.

That was why Claudia couldn't wait for Josephine to come and see Doris at this auction.
After making the call, she looked up and happened to see Stuart staring at Josephine.

Doris also saw Josephine.

Doris spoke softly, "Stuart, shall we go over and greet Dr. Kalmien? But I see she's having a great time chatting with the man next to her."
