Chapter 231 The Secret Unveiled
Robin had definitely been up to a lot.
Back then, nobody really paid attention to what he had done.
Stuart realized how much Robin had interfered in his marriage to Josephine after piecing together all of Robin's actions and words.
Robin had often told Stuart that Josephine had a bad character and that they weren't a good match.
Looking back now, Stuart found it all pretty ironic.
At the time, he even thought Robin made some valid points.
Stuff like, "You can't spoil Josephine, or she'll get worse," "Josephine is very manipulative," and "Josephine is close with Liam."
Robin had said things like that over and over.
Stuart never really questioned Robin's dislike for Josephine.
Robin was his buddy, and Josephine was close to Liam, so it made sense they didn't get along.
But thinking about Jair, Vincent, and even other people around him, none of them ever said Josephine had a bad character, even if they weren't close to Liam and Josephine.
Not only that, Stuart had someone track down Doris and ask her a bunch of questions.
Turns out, a lot of what Doris did back then was under Robin's orders.
And Donna? Stuart never imagined that Donna and Robin weren't even related!
All the evidence pointed to one thing: Robin had some weird feelings for Josephine!
He was super sneaky about it and never told anyone how he felt.
But Stuart remembered the stuff Josephine went through and what she told him afterward.
At the time, he didn't believe her and thought she was just badmouthing Robin out of spite.
Now, looking back, he realized how dumb he was!
Robin, this sneaky, deceitful guy, was right there, stirring up trouble, and Stuart didn't see it at all!
Thinking about Robin's feelings for Josephine, Stuart suddenly felt a murderous rage!
When Robin got Stuart's call, he was wondering how far Stuart and Josephine had gotten.
Why would Stuart be driving Josephine around?
Logically, Josephine wouldn't let Stuart get close to her.
Just as Stuart called, Robin thought about probing him and went quickly.
When he got to the private room at the club they often visited, Robin saw Stuart and smiled. "Weren't you with Josephine earlier? Why'd you suddenly ask me out?"
"What do you think if I remarry her?" Stuart asked directly, with no expression.
Robin's face looked a bit off for a moment, then he smiled. "Have you thought it through?"
In the past, Stuart wouldn't have noticed this detail.
But now that he knew what kind of person Robin was, he caught every little expression on Robin's face.
Stuart cursed himself even more for being so blind before, not seeing Robin's true colors.
He spoke coldly, "I've thought it through. Five years ago, I didn't want to divorce. Now, I want to win her back. Do you have any good ideas?"
Robin felt something was off with Stuart today.
Stuart's gaze was cold and indifferent, like he was looking at a stranger.
Robin sighed and said, "Honestly, Stuart, I don't get why you're so hung up on her. Liking someone should make you happy. But with her, you're always angry or down. I've never seen you happy."
He had said similar things before.
Stuart stayed quiet, so Robin kept going, "I just don't think you two are a good match. Josephine's got a bad temper and doesn't respect you. If you go after her, she'll probably just get worse."
Stuart lit a cigarette, took a drag, and asked, "Shouldn't you be thinking about getting married too? What kind of person are you looking for?"
Robin, who was the same age as Stuart, was already feeling the pressure from his family to settle down.
Robin lit his own cigarette and said, "No rush. I don't want to end up like you, marrying someone for a family alliance without any real feelings. That's just asking for trouble. I'll wait until I find someone I actually like."
Stuart looked at him and asked, "What do you think of Josephine?"
Robin paused for a moment, then said, "Didn't I tell you? She doesn't have any good qualities."
Stuart clarified, "No, I mean, do you think Josephine is the kind of person you like?"
This time, Robin was genuinely stunned.
Stuart sneered.
If Robin really disliked Josephine, he would've immediately laughed it off and said, "What a joke."
But Robin's reaction clearly showed he was hiding something!
Robin couldn't help it; he never expected Stuart to ask that.
Realizing this, he quickly said, "What are you talking about? Are you crazy? What nonsense is this?"
"How is it nonsense?" Stuart's cold gaze fell on Robin's wrist. "Forgot how your hand got injured?"
Robin's heart skipped a beat, and he instinctively covered his wrist. "I told you, I don't blame her. At that time, it was William..."
Stuart's voice was cold, indifferent, and sharp. "Robin."
Robin sensed something was wrong. "Stuart."
"I'm giving you a chance." Stuart exhaled a smoke ring. "Tell me the truth. Considering our years of friendship, maybe I'll let you go."
Robin forced a laugh. "I don't understand what you mean."
Stuart asked, "You sowed discord between Josephine and me, encouraged me to divorce her. Why did you do all this?"
"I didn't," Robin hurriedly said, "Yes, I admit, I don't like her, but isn't it true that she has a bad temper? Isn't it true that she's too close to Liam? I..."
"Robin." Stuart stood up, bent down, and stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray. "I gave you a chance."
Robin instinctively stood up. "Don't misunderstand me. We're friends. After all these years, can't I speak my mind in front of you? Besides, I did it for your own good. You and Josephine..."
Before Robin could finish, Stuart punched him hard in the face.
Robin was caught off guard, but even if he wasn't, he was no match for Stuart.
Stuart's punch knocked him onto the sofa.
Stuart grabbed his collar and pulled him up.
Stuart was slightly taller than Robin, looking down at him.
Robin only felt his gaze was cold and sinister, making him fearful. "You misunderstood me."
Stuart said mockingly, "Liking her for so long must have been tough. Coveting my wife, doesn't it bother your conscience? Oh, I forgot, you don't have a conscience. If you were a man and admitted it openly, I'd respect you. But what have you done?"
Robin gritted his teeth to stop himself from trembling.
The secret he had hidden for so many years was suddenly exposed by Stuart.
His most hidden secret was revealed, and Robin even felt a bit dizzy.
