Chapter 85 Don't Disdain
It was Robin.
Josephine didn't want to have any interaction with him. She kept walking, nodded slightly in acknowledgment, and was about to pass by.
"Wait a minute." Robin stopped her. He said, "I have something to ask you."
Josephine's face was expressionless. She replied impatiently, "What is it?"
Robin saw she was alone and asked curiously, "Where's Stuart? Isn't he with you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Stuart came out of the restaurant.
Seeing him, Stuart's face didn't look good either. He asked, "What are you doing here?"
Robin said, "I came to eat too. Didn't expect to see you here. So, did you two have another fight? It's so painful for people with incompatible personalities to be together. It's impossible to be happy."
"Shut up," Stuart said coldly, "If you're so idle, why don't you go sweep the streets?"
Josephine glanced at the two of them and was about to leave.
Robin called out to her.
Stuart looked at him coldly. He snapped, "Why are you calling her?"
Josephine didn't even turn her head.
Robin said, "Josephine is still so rude. She's leaving without even saying goodbye."
Stuart was already furious; hearing Robin's words made him even angrier.
Robin said, "I won't have a family-arranged marriage in the future."
Stuart glanced at him. He responded, "Really?"
That glance was icy.
Robin said, "Being with the one you love is so sweet. Think about it, if you were with... every day would be full of love. Can that feeling compare to being with Josephine?"
He paused, not saying the name, but both of them knew who he was talking about.
Stuart thought for a moment but found he couldn't imagine it.
When it came to sweet love, the face that came to his mind was Josephine's.
All he could think of were the moments they spent entwined in bed.
With a stern face, he walked towards the company, and Robin followed beside him. He remarked, "Stuart, you two were separated by a twist of fate. Now that you're divorced, it's a good thing, you..."
Stuart stopped and looked at him coldly. He asked, "Why are you following me?"
Robin said, "I have nothing to do, so I thought I'd go to the company and chat with you."
"I'm very busy," Stuart directly told him to leave, "You should go."
Robin said, "Wait, let me finish. Now that you're in charge of the Haustia family, anyone with a brain wouldn't want to leave you. If Josephine doesn't want to divorce you, you can use the Kalmien family to pressure her."
Stuart took a deep breath. He replied sarcastically, "Good advice, don't say it again next time."
After saying that, he ignored Robin and walked away with long strides.
Robin stood for a few seconds, smiled, and left as well.
The matter of Josephine's divorce wasn't settled; she was angry.
When she returned to the old house in the evening, she learned that Stuart had a social event tonight and didn't know when he would be back.
Thinking about the injury on his arm, Josephine wanted to send him a message telling him not to drink.
However, thinking about what he said today, Josephine felt he might as well drink himself to death.
Stuart didn't drink. He just found an excuse not to go home and face Josephine.
Robin said, a good marriage should be like what?
He hadn't thought about it.
Before this, all of Stuart's energy and thoughts were focused on expanding his business empire.
He was busy every day, working almost all thirty days of the month.
He had no extra time to think about other things.
But now, Josephine wanted a divorce.
Initially, Stuart did have thoughts of divorce.
But he didn't expect that the one to bring it up would be Josephine.
He was resting with his eyes closed when the door to the room was suddenly pushed open.
He became alert and opened his eyes, only to see Doris sneaking in with something in her arms.
"What are you doing here?" Stuart asked sternly.
Doris gasped; the things in her arms fell to the ground.
Her eyes were full of surprise and shock. She asked, "You, why are you here?"
"I should be asking you that." Stuart's gaze lost its usual warmth. He questioned her, "What are you doing here at this time?"
This was his room at the club. Given his status, no one had the chance to come in except for the cleaning staff.
Doris had been here a few times with Stuart, but she didn't have the right to enter this room alone.
Even Robin needed Stuart's permission to come in.
Doris was flustered and didn't say a word, quickly squatting down to pick up the fallen items.
Stuart frowned and saw that the ground was covered with decorative items like ribbons and balloons.
Stuart asked again, "Answer me, what are you doing here?"
Doris felt he was particularly cold today.
She raised her face, full of grievance, and said tearfully, "I, I thought your birthday was coming up, so I wanted to decorate the room and give you a surprise. I also prepared a gift for you."
Stuart was stunned.
His birthday was indeed coming up, but he had forgotten about it due to his recent argument with Josephine.
In previous years, he always celebrated with Robin and a group of friends, maybe having dinner with Andrew at the Haustia Manor before going out again.
He didn't expect Doris to remember.
Doris thought of what Robin had said.
He said, Stuart might seem cold and reserved, but he also needed care.
Do something that he would hear about from others or see with his own eyes, but don't let him feel you're doing it on purpose.
That way, the effect of touching him would be twice as good with half the effort.
Robin had told her that Stuart would be at the club tonight.
So Doris pretended not to know and came here.
Her cautious demeanor was just for Stuart to see.
Stuart pulled her up. He said, "That's thoughtful. But let others do these things."
Doris sniffled. She replied, "I wanted to do it myself and give you a different kind of birthday."
Stuart smiled. He said gently, "You even prepared a gift for me?"
Doris said, "I don't have much money, so don't dislike it."
Stuart asked, "What is it?"
Doris took out a dark gray scarf from her bag.
The scarf looked a bit simple.
No logo, no tag. Stuart was surprised. He asked her, "Did you make this yourself?"
Doris put her hands behind her back and nodded in confirmation. She replied, "Yes, I bought the best yarn and followed a video tutorial for a long time. I'm so clumsy that my fingers got hurt, but I finally finished it."
Stuart's thoughts went back to his middle school days.
Back then, many boys and girls in the class had crushes on each other.
A trend swept through the campus where girls would make scarves for the boys they liked.
Stuart had received one too.
He closed his eyes, hiding all the emotions in his gaze.
When he opened them again, he smiled. He said appreciatively, "Thank you, I really like it."
Doris's eyes turned red. She remarked, "You really don't dislike it? Even though the yarn is the best, it can't compare to the gifts others give you."
Another person's smiling face appeared in Stuart's mind.
He said, "No, this is the most precious gift."
