Chapter 242 You Have the Nerve to Say You Like Her?

Laura had always hated evil, especially after Stuart hurt her best friend.

Now that he was standing right in front of her, how could she not give him a piece of her mind?

After a solid ten-minute rant, Laura finally pursed her lips.

Stuart poured her some coffee, and Laura let out an angry laugh. "If you had this kind of awareness earlier, would you be in such a mess now?"

"Yeah," Stuart said, staying humble. "That's why I need your help."

"What do you want me to do?" Laura chuckled. "If you want my help, you better show some humility. And I don't work for free."

Stuart said, "I want to know more about Josephine—what she likes to do, what she likes to eat, her favorite color, her favorite things, her favorite sports. And also, what she dislikes."

"Hold up!" Laura made a stopping gesture. "Stuart, have you ever thought about why you two got divorced?"

Stuart replied, "I know you're mocking me. After being together for over three years, I didn't know anything about her."

"You realize that?" Laura sneered. "You say you like Josephine and want to win her back. What do you like about her? You don't even know what she likes to eat or what she dislikes, but you have the nerve to say you like her?"

"That's why I want to make amends," Stuart said. "As long as you're willing to help me, I'll agree to any condition."

Laura asked, "Are you serious? If I ask for shares in the Haustia Family's company, will you give them to me?"

Stuart said, "My grandfather is still around, so I might not be able to give you shares that would affect the company's stability. But I can give you what I have that won't affect the company."

Laura looked at him in shock. "You'd really give them to me?"

Stuart said, "As long as you can help me, I can take you to sign the transfer agreement right now."

"You're nuts!" Laura looked at him. "Do you know how much one percent of your family's shares is worth?"

Stuart nodded calmly. "I know."

Laura thought he was crazy.

In other words, if she nodded now, she could immediately become truly wealthy, worth billions of dollars.

Laura clutched her chest and glared at him. "You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Testing my friendship with Josephine! You're so despicable!"

"No, I'm sincerely asking for help," Stuart said. "I hope you can help me."

"Dream on!" Laura stood up abruptly. "Trying to tempt me with money to trample on my friendship with Josephine, I'm telling you, it's not going to happen!"

After saying that, she grabbed her bag and left.

Steven was waiting for her in the car. When he saw her get in, he reached out to take her bag.

But the next second, Laura burrowed into his arms.

Steven was taken aback. "Laura, what's wrong?"

"Drive!" Laura waved her hand, and Steven quickly told the driver to start the car.

As the car started, Laura sat up, clinging to the window, looking outside eagerly.

"What happened?" Steven asked.

Laura sniffled. "I just missed out on billions of dollars! If I hadn't left quickly, I might have made a mistake."

Steven was puzzled. "Weren't you meeting with Stuart? I said I would go with you, but you didn't let me. How did you miss out on billions of dollars? What do you mean?"

"Don't ask." Laura looked pained. "I've sacrificed too much."

Steven pulled her over and held her in his arms. "Talk to me properly."

Laura glared at him. "Shut up! You can't give me billions of dollars anyway!"

Steven asked, "What do you need that much money for?"

"I don't want to talk." Laura lay in his arms. "I'm just an ordinary person. Just thinking about what I missed makes me miserable. I need to find Josephine!"

"She's probably at work now," Steven said. "I'll take you to eat first, and you can contact her later."

Josephine had no idea what Laura had gone through. She just thought it was good that Stuart had given up. As for what Laura said about Emily and Angela, she didn't take it to heart.

But in the afternoon, she got a call from Laura. When she found out what Stuart had done, Josephine was completely stunned.

'Has he gone mad? I already told him I had a boyfriend and a son, yet he still hasn't given up? Does he really need Roy and Jeffery to come back and see them together for him to believe it?' Josephine thought.

Laura said, "I missed out on billions of dollars, how are you going to compensate me?"

Josephine laughed. "I don't have that much money, how about I marry you?"

"Your beauty is useless to me!" Laura said. "How about this, when Jeffery comes back, let him stay with me."

Josephine knew that Laura was just worried about her being busy, so she used this tone to say such things. Laura actually wanted to help her.

Josephine felt a warmth in her heart. She said, "Alright, I'll just give Jeffery to you."

"Sounds good!" Laura said. "I'm just afraid you won't be willing."

"Stop joking," Josephine said. "When Jeffery comes back, if I go to Celestia Springs, I'll let him stay with you. And about you and Steven..."

"Stop!" Laura said. "Why do you have to bring up something so disappointing at such a happy moment?"

Josephine said, "If you're not interested in him, just tell him. You're with him now but not giving him a title, what are you after?"

"I'm after his height, his looks, his strength," Laura said. "I'm not like you, you have no desires, but I have physical needs."

Josephine was speechless. "You're really bad in a clear way."

"If a woman isn't bad, she's giving men a chance to deceive her," Laura said. "I'm protecting myself, you don't understand."

Josephine had to get back to work, so she hung up after a few words.

Laura's foot was on Steven's thigh. "Hey, what are you doing? My mouth is dry!"

Steven reached out and put a grape in her mouth, then said, "You're after my strength?"

Laura said, "I was just speaking off the cuff. I give you face in front of others, do you really think you have so many merits?"

Steven was silent. After a few seconds, he said, "If I were a bit more introverted, I'd definitely feel inferior!"

Laura ate a few more pieces of fruit, then sat in his lap and said, "Let me tell you, my godson Jeffery is coming back. When the time comes, you better behave well, got it?"

"Of course," Steven said. "I'll make sure to take good care of him as his godfather."

"Who said you're his godfather?" Laura said. "How did you give yourself a title?"

Steven asked, "If you're his godmother and I'm not his godfather, what am I?"

Laura thought for a moment and replied, "God-grandfather?"

Steven gritted his teeth and kissed her on her lovable yet infuriating mouth.

At this moment, Josephine had already communicated with Roy. Soon, Roy would be bringing Jeffery back.
