Chapter 446 Not Letting You In
Later, Josephine called Laura, but Laura couldn't be bothered to talk about it.
She then called Steven, who said, "Forget it, she really doesn't care about these things."
Josephine asked, "What about you? Are you just giving up? No proposal?"
Steven said, "I don't dare to propose. Anyway, she agreed to have the wedding. What if I propose and she really says no?"
Josephine didn't know how to comfort him.
Later, when she talked to Stuart about it, Stuart said, "You can't say Laura is wrong. Everyone has different preferences. Just because Claudia likes these things doesn't mean Laura does."
Josephine said, "That's true. I just think Steven might be unhappy. Can you comfort him?"
Stuart said, "Why would he be unhappy? He and Laura are so close every day. I'm the one who needs comforting, okay?"
Josephine laughed, "Alright, alright, I'll comfort you. What do you want? I'll buy it for you."
"I want you," Stuart said. "Josephine, I miss you."
Josephine rested her chin on the table and blinked at him, "I miss you too. But hang in there, it's just a few dozen days, it'll pass quickly."
"I want to come see you."
"No," Josephine said. "Last time you came, you stayed for just one night and left. It was too exhausting."
"It's nothing. I slept well on the plane both ways."
"Be good," Josephine said. "Save up your longing, and I'll come back when the time is right."
"I've already saved up enough," Stuart said. "It's been full and overflowing for a long time."
Josephine laughed, "Alright, I know. But isn't this way, we see each other every day?"
"It's not enough. I want to hold you, kiss you," Stuart said, staring at her without blinking. "What about you? Don't you miss me?"
"Of course I do. But when work gets busy, there's no room in my head for anything else. You should do more work, read more documents, and it'll be fine."
"No, I still miss you," Stuart said, feeling wronged. "It seems you don't miss me. When you work, you forget about me."
Josephine smiled helplessly, "What else can I do? If I only think about you and don't work, when will the work get done? If it's not done, I can't come back. Is that what you want?"
"No!" Stuart quickly said. "Then don't think about me, hurry up and work! That way, won't your efficiency be much higher? Finish early and come home early."
"I know," Josephine said. "I'll try to finish early, so don't come, okay?"
"What if I come, will you be mad?"
Josephine kept a straight face, "Yes."
Stuart hung his head, "Got it."
Josephine said, "Not just mad, but also worried. You have to fly for thirty or forty hours round trip, and there's risk involved. I'm really worried."
Josephine didn't expect that after saying all this, she saw Stuart again after work the next day.
This time she knew clearly that the Stuart in front of her was not an illusion.
She suppressed her inner joy and excitement, looking at him expressionlessly.
Stuart looked at her a bit cautiously and called out, "Josephine."
Just as Josephine was about to say something, Stuart spoke first, "I came this time not just to see you! I have work!"
Afraid Josephine wouldn't believe him, he even took out some documents. "Look! I have a project with the local partners."
Josephine looked and it was true. But it was a charity project. Simply put, it was just about putting money into it. Then the company could gain a good reputation. It was obvious that this investment wasn't a small amount.
"I really didn't..."
"Alright," Josephine held his hand. "I know. So when are you leaving?"
Stuart said, "The contract is signed, and others will follow up on the rest. I'm leaving tomorrow."
Josephine didn't want to expose him. He came all this way just to give money? Too much money to spend, huh?
No need to ask, Stuart deliberately found such an excuse. What could Josephine do? Besides, she missed him too.
Missing someone was really a wonderful thing.
Sometimes when you were busy, you really didn't think about it. But once you start, it was everywhere, following you like a shadow.
Back at Josephine's place, Stuart didn't know if she would be mad. He wanted to kiss her but didn't dare to make the first move.
As soon as they got inside, Josephine hugged him, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his lips.
Stuart was stunned for a moment, then became proactive the next second.
The passionate kiss made the air feel much warmer.
Stuart didn't know how much effort it took to stop and calm his breathing, "You haven't eaten yet."
Josephine said, "Didn't you come to feed me?"
Stuart, who had just forced himself to calm down, couldn't stay calm after hearing that.
Josephine kissed him again.
This time, Stuart couldn't hold back. He lifted her, her legs wrapped around his waist. They kissed their way to the bedroom.
After some tossing around, Josephine was really hungry.
Fortunately, Stuart had already had food delivered.
It was all in thermal containers, so it was hot whenever they ate.
He fed Josephine, and they lay in bed talking for a while. As they talked, some things naturally happened again.
The torment of missing each other turned into the joy of physical and emotional connection at that moment.
Stuart spoke cautiously, not wanting to make Josephine angry. But when it came to action, he was very proactive.
Josephine didn't even have the strength to scold him. She could only beg for mercy.
Stuart knew his own nature, so he started to pamper her in every way after they were done. Anyway, he made Josephine feel very comfortable.
Although this didn't hide the fact that he had been quite rough with her earlier, Stuart knew that no matter what, he couldn't delay Josephine's work the next day. After all, he was still waiting for Josephine to finish early and come home.
Since Stuart had traveled back and forth, Josephine couldn't bear to say anything to him.
But before he left, Josephine said, "If you don't listen and sneak over again next time, don't blame me for not letting you in."
Seeing that Josephine was serious, Stuart had to say, "Then I'll come to pick you up when you finish, is that okay?"
Josephine said, "That's fine."
Stuart hurried back to the States.
But at the airport, it suddenly started raining heavily, and Stuart got soaked. He didn't expect his body to be so weak this time.
He got a fever as soon as he got back. Or rather, he was already sick on the plane.
Of course, he didn't dare tell Josephine about this.
Laura called him and asked if he was free tomorrow.
Stuart had just taken some medicine and was half-asleep, so he asked her, "What's up?"
